U-23 face Botswana in Rio Olympics quest

Share

Zambia on Friday evening begins the campaign for a place at the 2015 CAF Under-23 Cup tournament with a second round match against Botwana away in Gabon.

The CAF Under-23 Cup tournament to be held in Senegal will serve as the qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Olympic Fooball competition.

Zambia and Botswana on Friday evening clash in the first leg tie of the second round at Lobatse Sports Complex prior to the 29th May return match in Lusaka.

Fighton Simukonda’s Under-23 squad trots into Lobatse wounded after their recent elimination from the All Africa Games qualifiers at the hands of Nigeria.

Zambia were on bye from the first round where Botswana saw off Kenya to advance.

Left winger Kelvin Mubanga says Zambia’s prime target is to qualify for Olympic Games.

“We have no option but to qualify for the Olympic Games,” Mubanga said.

Winner between Zambia and Botswana will advance to the final round in July to face Cote d’Ivoire.
