THE Patriotic Front (PF) says Zambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali’s sudden change of heart on the K14 million Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) loan and the tribunal constituted to investigate suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito is not a coincidence but allegedly a scheme to sway the public from the allegations levelled against Mr Nchito.

PF vice-chairperson, media and publicity committee Sunday Chanda said Mr Tayali’s attacks on Mr Justices Annel Silungwe, Matthew Ngulube and Ernest Sakala are allegedly calculated and aimed at blackmailing the courts.

“Mr Tayali fought hard to be joined to the DBZ K14 million loan scandal in which High Court judge Nigel Mutuna ruled that Mr Nchito, his business partner Fred M’membe and Mr Nchima Nchito had obtained the loan by fraudulent misrepresentation.

“It is easy to construe that each time he (Mr Tayali) opens his mouth to speak, there is an invisible hand dictating to him what to say,” Mr Chanda said.

He said Mr Tayali should be reminded that Zambians will not rest until justice is done.
“Mr Tayali can, therefore, do some soul-searching because without sounding prophetic, a time is coming when Mr Tayali will reject his actions,” he said.

And the International Institute of Democracy and Conflicts Resolution (IIDCR) has challenged Mr Tayali to swear an affidavit and prove allegations that former President Rupiah Banda is corrupt.

IIDCR president Tresford Chomba said it is unfair for Mr Tayali to defame people without providing evidence before relevant law enforcement agencies.

Mr Chomba said this in a letter dated May 27, 2015 addressed to Mr Tayali and availed to the Daily Mail yesterday.

“The IIDCR has taken keen interest in your recent revelations and continued insistence that former President Rupiah Banda is corrupt and a selfish man and that you are ready to prove the aforesaid allegations before the courts of law.

“Further, you have alleged that Mr Mutembo Nchito’s tribunal outcome was known and was merely set to fix our embattled Director of Public Prosecutions. You have also gone ahead to enjoin Richard Sakala, the proprietor of Daily Nation newspaper, as being behind the crafting of the aforesaid tribunal to fix the learned lawyer as the latter prosecuted him.

“You have also called for the recusal of justices Ngulube and Sakala for what you have termed to be bias,” the letter reads in part.

Mr Chomba said Mr Tayali should prove his allegations to enable the public to make informed decisions.

He said it is wrong for Mr Tayali to issue blatant statements in the media without substantiating his allegations.

  1. tayali said he is ready to prove that chi banda is a thief, but before he could answer a veru hungry stomach is defending him,let chi banda answer

    • Sunday Chanda is paid K6000 by PF as his salary per month. He has to talk to earn a promotion and get about K8000 which Mumbi Phiri is earning. So when this Sunday talks, just put things into perspective

  2. So Chomba, it seems you read what Tayali wrote but you didn’t comprehend, he can not provide that information to you because you are not a court of law. It’s simple, he has said he will provide evidence in court & to prove his seriousness he challenged Mtembo to take the matter to court. As for Chanda don’t confuse yourself the tribunal & DBZ are 2 different matters. Your pay master is wasting his resources by asking you to do the bidding or his behalf. You must ask RB what interest he had in shutting down Zambian Airways. Perhaps you can show us some economic development from the contracted loans of $5.5B in 3 years. The Pf are the ones who should be preparing to account for the mess they have created and we shall make sure they are prosecuted by the same Mtembo

  3. RB doesn’t inspire anybody, anyway- the litany of immoral goings-on while he was at statehouse simply puts one off!

  4. You know that there is no smoke without fire. Why is ECL & the PF so jittery? First Chanda tells us ECL is not involved, despite all the evidence to the contrary. For e.g. Newton Nguni, the one who sued Guy Scott for Acting as President on behalf of ECL suddenly finds the authority to drag a sitting DPP to Chongwe with full Police escort! Where was he getting his authority from? Then the I.G. rings and, and after consulting with her superior, tells a sitting DPP that the Police “are not going to obey a High Court Order”! Who is her superior whom she consulted? Who can give her authority to disobey a High Court order? Newton Nguni? The questions abound! And now Tayali has things to say, but in COURT! Why is PF jittery? And by the way, can we have AN OPEN TRANSPARENT TRIBUNAL!

  5. Don’t forget that the Judge Chikopa Tribunal was instigated by Mutmbo and the Post in order to fix some judges. As usual this failed as not all judges agreed with this. And the world keeps on going round and round.

  6. Let Lungu sleep by letting Banda rule by default and bringing RB loyalist’s to PF, he shouldn’t be shocked if Banda turns around & want’s to stand on Pf ticket in 2016. With so many structures of PF being taken over slowly there will be no one to stop him. Just ask Nevers Mumba.

  7. This country is cursed.we have no principled people.its like one can only work where it benefits him whether right or wrong.look at fr bwalya, mwanajiti, sunday chanda, tayali, dora and many more others.surely when are we going to have sanity in our political dispensation ?

  8. Chanda is correct. Someone here writes that Chanda is on a K6000 salary from PF. Wrong. Chanda is not paid by PF at all and I write as someone from the secretariat. We are however proud of the work and dedication he brings to the PF and national debate. As a matter of fact, the day he begins getting paid, k6000 would be too too little. Tayali is a cr00k

    • If Tayali is a crook, then you would have no problems with him giving evidence in court? So, why go out of your way to stop him by calling him all sorts of names!
The same with Mutembo. If ECL has nothing to hide, then why insist on a secret tribunal?

  9. What Tayali is saying today should not be dismissed all because he was speaking through the belly last year. He is not the only one to say Rupiah Banda is a shameless thief. I have said on so many occasions that Rupiah Banda is a thief and a shameless old man without hidding behind a mask!

  10. The fact is Tayali is Guilty of Tombaling without permission!! What he is looking for now is sympathy from the public who may be duped to think that he is being persecuted by the PF. Just man-up man, waliumfwa bwino so pay the price!!

    • When the devil tells the truth, it does not make the truth false. You might question his motives, but the truth is independent of who tells it. Tayali may have his faults, but if he is telling the truth, then we have a responsibility to accept it. That is why we test what he says in the courts of law. Those who resort to insults only prove that they have been defeated by the truth and are failing to reason and argue accordingly. Besides, whatever a man is accused of or has done, even killing someone, he is innocent until proved guilty by a court of law.

  11. Lets wait until Tayali hopefully takes stand in court over the tribunal. Iam sure Tayali has a lot to say as he confessed that he was eating with RB. What he says about Ngulube is interesting and I hope Ngulube will be called to testify in court. Then anyone who has anything to say will go to court and say something under oath. This is a tribunal indeed. About RB we all know who he is. Iam personally extremely dissappointed with ECL after giving him a vote in January

  12. When it all started the idea was to strip Mutembo naked, when it ends (if it ever does) we will probably have a handful of old men walking naked on our streets. Any bemba saying for this? Someone please.

  13. It has already been confirmed that there is some truth in what tayali has said. I am inclined to believing him because he has been close to these people he is talking about.
