Rainbow Party leader Wynter Kabimba has charged that President Edgar Lungu has struggled in his first six months at State House because he is governing without a plan.
And Mr Kabimba has claimed that President Lungu intends to call for an early general election with the intention of catching the opposition unprepared.
Mr Kabimba said the numerous inconsistencies in the Lungu administration is confirmation that he went into State House without a clear plan on how to run the country.
He said President Lungu is running a Chipantepante government which has lamentably failed the Zambians.
In his key note address to delegates at the Rainbow Party first ever national congress in Lusaka on Saturday, Mr Kabimba said President Lungu is failing to deliver on his numerous campaign promises because he lacks an ideological standing.
He also observed that the Patriotic Front is now similar to all the many political parties due to failure to distinctively distinguish itself.
‘These political parties seem to speak the same language. They are not any different? Why don’t they just come together so that we defeat them properly?’ Mr Kabimba questioned as the delegates cheered him on.
He added, ‘If you listened to the campaigns, they all said they will reduce the price of mealie meal. If they all wanted to reduce the price of mealie meal, why didn’t they just come together because they had similar messages. It is six months now and we have not seen the price of mealie meal reducing.’
Mr Kabimba said the Rainbow Party is the only political party that will restore people’s hope and bring about fundamental changes in the manner government is administered.
‘We are not a reformist political party, we are a revolutionary party that is going to fundamentally and principally transform the country. We are not going to do that by simply changing the band aid, we are going to cut off the arm,’ he stated.
Mr Kabimba claimed that President Lungu is preoccupied with staying in State House and has since launched campaigns for re-election.
‘If they call for early election as they intend to do, let them find that the voter has a clear understanding of what the Rainbow Party intends to do to transform the nation. No amount of voter bribery can hoodwink an enlightened voter,’ Mr Kabimba said.
‘Let them make a mistake of calling an early election, they will be shocked. They think an early election will shock us, they will shock themselves, looking at the number of delegates here, it means we are ready for an election.’

Not telling Zambians what Rainbow would have said if it were part of the campaign. Only one party was elected into government and you can not hold the opposition responsible for failure of the party in government to lower the cost of mealie meal.

And please, put only enough in your mouth so that you are able to chew, dealing with the part in government is a challenge in itself; do not add and take on the opposition as well. You are temporarily on the same side.

I was also informed that some of scrupulous adviser of President Lungu has advised him to call for an early election so that he can win.
He was advised that if he doesn’t do that, then he will be defeated by HH. Latest survey indicates that 65.8% of Civil Servants are sad with Edgar Lungu for not fulfilling his campaign promises of having 55 as the retirement age. The poor Lungu campaigned on having 55 as the retirement age but changed colors immediately after elections.

UPND/HH supporters fail to see the bigger picture. Most Zambians do not relate to HH. B y virtue of my job, where I manage operations of my company in the Northern region of Zambia comprising the following provinces, i.e. CB, NW, NP MP & LP, I travel through all these areas. Apart from NWP, all the other areas have small pockets of HH supporters. It is a psychological factor that most ordinary citizens do not relate with HH. They see him as a rich man with a dream of being president who barely understands their needs. This image plus the cumbersome UPND image of being a party for southern province are still very big factors in UPND and HH’s presidential ambitions.
There is great need to dismantle both images and I could easily help the UPND with this especially in Muchinga and Northern.
