Opposition political parties are suspicious of the intention by government to introduce the Political Parties Act.

MMD Spokesperson Raphael Nakachinda says such legislation would be a way of silencing the opposition political parties.Mr. Nakachinda told QFM News that it is wrong to regulate political parties which are not financed by the government.

He challenged the government to give full details of the same Act so that political parties understand its intention fully.

And UPND Acting Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba says the PF are on record saying they want the country to revert to a one party state and that such a law would be the first step towards reverting to a one party state.

Mr. Simusamba said political parties are already regulated by the Registrar of Societies and wondered the motive behind such a law.

Meanwhile, Green Party President Peter Sinkamba says there is need for all political parties to have an input before the Act is tabled before Parliament for possible enactment.

Mr. Sinkamba has however, stated that the country ought to be cautious on how some political parties mobilize resources from abroad so as not to put the security of the nation at risk.

  1. PF want to legalize the one party state thing. Davies Chama, the thug has been talking about this ever since, they are now testing public opinion. Fix the economy first! Clueless PF! Cimbwi no plan

    • CHIMBWI NO PLAN INDEED! AND WHAT TRIBE IS THIS MORON CALLED DAVIES CHAMA? HOW CAN ZAMBIA SINK SO LOW TO HAVE SUCH IMBECILES LIKE CHAMA LEADING A COUNTRY WHICH HAS A LOT OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE? COULD IT BE THAT THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY IS EQUALLY INEPT?

  2. DRACONIAN RULES, DRACONIAN ACTS! LATE PRESIDENT CHILUBA ONCE SAID ‘I DIDN’T KNOW THAT POWER WAS SWEET!’ EDGAR CHAKOLWA LUNGU AND HIS MINIONS HAVE TASTED THE SWEETNESS OF POWER AND HENCE WANT TO IMPOSE LAWS WHICH WILL IMPACT NEGATIVELY ON THE LIVES OF OUR PEOPLE, INCLUDING THEY THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE IN POWER FOR EVER! SAY NO TO SUCH DRACONIAN LAWS AND REGULATIONS. ABASH DICTATORSHIP. LUNGU AND HIS MINIONS ARE A CURSED BUNCH OF ZAMBIAN POLITICIANS AND WE DON’T WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CURSE!

    • Why do you write using capital letters through and through? Do you think your message will be read better or what? Write the normal way we might just learn something from your contributions.

  3. Ruth, you’re making a valid point here except it’s always such hardwork to read completely capitalised passages. Please capitalise we engage for the good of Zambia.

  4. Rather de-capitalise. How on earth would I encourage you with the habit I find detastable. I meant “Please de-capitalise,” dear.

  5. Truth
Typical of a nigger. KK thought he would rule forever and failed to give us a pipo driven constitution. The same constitution was abused by FTJ’S who even imprisoned him.FTJ equally failed and when out of power Levy set a task force on him. Come RB he also failed and he ended up suffering under Sata ‘ s exessive presidential powers.PF is now persuing legislation which will disadvantage the opposition thinking that they will rule forever. So typical of a nigger. They can’t see beyond their nose. The same legislation will be used against them.Sadly you will find that they abandon their PF and craw to the party that will win. That is why I am inclined to vote for UPND as the jumping from tree to tree like monkeys may be stopped and we laugh at these *****s who can’t see beyond their…

    • You will be surprised at just how African Jesus was. He was hid in Africa as a child for a reason. Blending in. Africa was great until we got presidents like Kaunda and Mabuto. Eons before our people invented writing and education.

      Viva President Nawakwi.

  6. I do not support this. But wait ! When so called small parties started mushrooming, the MMD was accused of creating and sponsoring these parties so as to confuse the “big” opposition parties. Those who care to recall will confirm this.

  7. The Act should provide for state financing of political parties with MPs and Councilors in proportion.

  8. I would like to look at the draft bill. The idea of regulating the political playing field in itself is not bad. The devil is definitely in the details…

  9. Infact Chama’s daughter has a Tonga boyfriend! Of course the father is not aware because he has sown seeds of hatred in his children about Tonga people. May I ask Chama what thing did Tongas do to you? The nshima you eat. the maize to make mealie meal was grown by Tongas or do you forget when you go to the toilet? Learn to co exist with other tribes, if you remember your civics, there are 73 tribes in Zambia!

  10. Political parties ALSO need a RULE BOOK. in zed u r proud to ve foreigners spossor yo party. Chiluba was sporsored by the apathied govt, we all saw how SA companies took over o companies after he won. in USA they refuse foreign donations bcoz they know it comes with terms & conditions. Only in Zed do pipo even applaud. But then they act surprised once a new Govt just opens doors to foreign companies once they win. What a country. U ve no sense of protecting yo own. U r just an “open” country, like a b*t*ch. And u wonder why the country looks like a war zone. Chiluba, HH, EL, Sata o sponsored by foreigners & u think they wil save yo interests? Is that not why they o speak of “foreign investors” and not Zambian investors. Dream on!
