Patriotic Front (PF) Media and Publicity Committee Vice Chairperson, Sunday Chanda has lashed out at the critics of President Edgar Lungu on court case on deferring 2016 elections and the accommodation of the former first lady Dr Christine Kaseba.

In a statement released to the media, Mr Chanda said the deferring of the 2016 elections is not a PF project and the issue has been disowned by PF. Mr Chanda further dismissed assertions that the former first Lady is being mistreated because he was a political opponent to President Lungu

ATTACKS AGAINST PRESIDENT LUNGU MALICIOUS – STATEMENT BY SUNDAY CHANDA, VICE CHAIRPERSON, PF MEDIA AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE

Lusaka, Zambia, 28th June 2015 – We have noted that Political Flukes such as FDD Leader Ms. Edith Nawakwi derive the greatest pleasure in distorting and misrepresenting objectivity and reasonableness.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we repeat for Ms. Nawakwi and her sponsor’s ears that the petition before the Courts is not and will not be a project of the Patriotic Front (PF) whichever way they want to look at it. PF has its own legal team and if and when need arises to bring any matters before the Courts, we will not seek the services of a lawyer who also happens to be Mr. Wynter Kabimba’s friend, Mr. Malipenga.

We are not desperate for representation in the context of the said application before the Courts. Suffice to state that Mr. Malipenga is an officer of the Court and how the Courts determine his matter on behalf of those he is representing, is none of PF’s business or interest. It is shameful and wishful thinking for Ms. Nawakwi to allege that no such application would go to the Courts without the President’s express authority.

President Lungu does not toy with the Courts of law and neither does he play ping-pong with the Legislature. Besides being the Republican President, President Lungu is an officer of the Court with great appreciation for the separation of powers.

This is one domain Ms. Nawakwi does not appreciate going by her sentiments, seemingly she was used to Presidents who kept Courts in their pockets. On that score we say to her that “zozi are zozi, Lungu is anaza”! Unless in their own imagination, there exists another PF apart from the ruling party, it does not make sense that they still insist on a matter we have disowned as a Party.

PF also finds the Post Editorial of June 28, 2015 full of distortions and malice. President Lungu does not view the former First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba as his political opponent as the editorial alleges.

PF has made it crystal clear that whatever happened following the passing on of our Patriarch and founding President Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata (MHSRIP) was part of the party’s intra-party democracy and no one has victimized the former First Lady for having exercised her right in that regard.

As part of his inaugural address on 25th January 2015, President Lungu promised to take care of the former First Lady and this position has never changed to this day. No sane person can doubt the fact that President Lungu has always held late President Sata in highest regard and that is not even a matter subject of any debate.

There are people whom claim to have loved the late President who never even spared a moment to pay their last respects to one of the country’s greatest sons of the soil. The Zambian people know who these are by name and we shall not venture into that debate because by their conduct the public will continue to judge them.

Lastly, PF is aware that accommodation acceptable to the former First Lady has been found and the statement from the Secretary to Cabinet put this fruitless debate to a close.

We ask that the media and their mouthpieces will respect the former First Lady’s and that of the Sata family’s privacy in this regard.

  1. People don’t learn…. were is former Ukwa’s spokesman?

Time is ticking Chanda… you are going to wish you are not insulting people on your way down. We have watched this movie before.

    • Amazing what a mess in PF, lets call for early elections so we can delete that party.
Why is Sunday Chanda now speaking on behalf of a republican president? Does that malnutrition Sunday Chanda knows that it was Edgar who told us about his friend Malipenga? Where is Amos, Kambwili to issue more sensible statements?
And who is Sunday Chanda to be publishing stuff on behalf of Sata’s family?

    • Iwe ka Sunday we are not vipuba. Lungu would have thrown those guys in jail (like he did to Pilato) for tarnishing his name if he wasn’t behind the move to postpone the elections

    • Now even Greece laughing at Zambia’s PF…….

Ex-Greek Prime Minister and current leader of the opposition New Democracy party Antonis Samaras lashed out at prime minister Alexis Tsipras.

Calling for a pro-European alliance to form amongst like-minded Greeks and public demonstrations, he said “We won’t let anyone turn Greece into Zambia.”

(go ahead and google and see for yourself)

  2. RUBBISH, ARE YOU NOT ASHAMED THAT MAMA KASEBA WAS EVICTED AND YOU CLAIM THAT YOU PAID THE SAID LODGE UP TO 30Th JUNE 2015. WHO IS LYING HERE? IS IT THE LODGE OWNER OR PF GOVERNMENT.

  3. Voters ask yourselves ” SINCE THE PF CAME TO POWER HAS LIFE IMPROVED FOR YOU OR ONLY FOR THE PRESIDENT AND HIS FRIENDS?”
    ZAMBIA VOTE WISE!!!!

    • @Aluta contos

You are correct. There are some whose lives had improved a million fold….from bankruptcy to oligarch livelihood. But these theives and looters are amassing their new found wealth in small groups relative to the masses out there.

I drive through Chawama and notice the amount of desperation of women, youths, men, elderly, lame etc fighting to eke out a living late in the evenings along the bypass road leadin to the lush suburbs of Sunningdale etc. Has life for these people an their down trodden in Kanyama, Kalikiliki improved like you, Aluta contos?

That these people live in squalor and abject poverty whilst our streets and roads in the already rich neigbourhoods are being cobbled and drains concreted is nothing but a sin to God!!

    • It has definitely improved a great deal for every PF member and PF sympathisers. As for the rest suffering is their portion.

  4. MAMA KASEBA WAS TREATED THIS WAY BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE WANT HER PUNISHED FOR NOT SUPPORTING LUNGU ENOUGH FOR THE PRESIDENCY IN JANUARY! SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TARGET. BA PF NO LUSE TABAKWATA. BANDA AND SILIYA ARE GIVEN BETTER TREATMENT THAN LATE SATAS WIDOW? WE ALL KNOW WHY!!!!!! SORRY MAMA KASEBA…

  5. As long as you a very vindictive president there is no way he can Change is colour. Lungu anabwera is a chameleon and will remain like this. He will remain a chief who abused his client ‘s money and as such he wil always associate himself with crooks and the corrupt. Teti upyane umunobe elyo walaba abana nabamukamfwilwa’ the Sata said and Pilato sung about Lungu and whatsoever Pilato said is happening what a shanks and Lungu will regret. Mulenga Sata is evil and short sighted

  6. Sunday, you would have been better off with any other name but not a day of the week – do you really think that people are daft????

  7. The question should be:

1.What was the cost of ubunga when PF came into power?
2.What was the $1 to the Kwacha?
3.How many youths where in employment ?
4.Do the people have more money in their pockets now?
    5. Has the people driven constitution been delivered or not?
    6. Any improvement in the care people receive in hospitals now?
    7. Are our schools performing any batter under PF?
    8. Can you afford three proper meals per day on your salary?
    9. What is the cost of fuel per litre now and then?

If the answer to the above are positive then vote PF but if not the think very carefully before you cast your vote.

    • Fellas, unfortunately the people on the ground (living in Zambia) see things differently.
The majority of them see nothing wrong with the state of affairs in their own backyard and that’s why we have a mediocre President like Vodka Lungu.
He is so scared to front the media to talk about the state of the Nation because he has no clue about inflation and worse still doesn’t even understand GDP.

  9. Sunday Chanda busy eyeing Brian Hapunda’s position, remember it is still vacant. That’s politics, remember you have to say something, no matter how senseless

  10. What is this dude’s level of education? A four year can write better English than this guy! Zambia is in a messy with these so called leaders!

  11. This statement is largely irrelevant. This guy is only good at name calling and that has run its course. Talk about real issues, things that affect the nation. On behalf of the president explain to us how you intend to solve the power crisis. Oh wait didnt u use the eurobond for that? And look were we are.

  12. Chanda you are right and I support you. Let them leave our president alone. Chanda is doing PF a great work and I wonder why he is not the spokesperson for the party or atleast deputy spokesperson

  13. Leadership is mystery.
People with big brains graduate as scientists but fail to run their own homes
Accountants and others have higher brains than businessmen
    who runs countries?
you the answer. they are even the ones who are the bosses of scientists
this is life. you may die of depression.

  14. Chanda’s flawed english is a rough draft and unrefined as PF’s own headless, unco’ordinated, ill equiped and unfocused governance.

Bwana Chanda and PF, its foolhardy to have strong faith on a weak branch than sitting on a strong branch on weak faith.

  15. ati “zoza zozi”??? In an official PF statement do we need to have a direct reference to a BEER advertisement for Rhino Lager??? The mind simply boggles, what kind of people have taken over the country?

  16. katwishi mayo……lusaka is doing very well in terms of voting..but copperbelt. awe sure! always behind in tribalism like buttocks.

  17. Some men agree to be used as “yes men” or rather lapdogs by other people. What a shame.

  18. Sunday Chanda I don’t unusually insult but I felt like doing so! Why are you fighting EL’s battles for him? TU chawa. Look at you! Why are you and Mumbi Phiri such yappers?
EL should caution his staff from speaking on his behalf!
