Chisamba Lungu says the radical changes made to the Zambia national team over the last eleven months have not helped the team.
Zambia has won just one competitive match from twelve games alone in 2015 both under Honour Janza and his successor George Lwandamina.
That game was a consolation Cosafa Cup Plate semifinal win over Ghana that Zambia won 3-0 with the other three victories recorded in friendlies.
“We have not been doing well I think coming to the FAZ executive and coaches they have to use players who are suppose to play,” Chisamba said.
“They have to mix experience and skill but if you have only skill in the team without experience then you can play 100 games, people will say that guy can dribble but without experience you can’t go anywhere.
“What we are lacking now is experience. These guys who are coming in now have to learn from people that have experience but now it is the opposite, those who have experience it’s like they are learning from those who are coming now which is in football we won’t go anywhere, , they are few experienced players in the team.”
Meanwhile, Chisamba also revealed that he was not happy to play a part role in the team.
The midfielder who is a starter at his russian club FC Ural where he shares the captaincy role but has been a benchwarmer for Zambia since a purge under Janza was executed following the team’s 2-1 away loss to Cape verde in a 2015 Africa Cup qualifier.
“It is not easy to be captain of a side and to be in the first eleven , so I am on my best, but when I come here its something else but I respect that,” Chisamba said.
“That is why I said every coach has his plan, so if you are not in the game plan better they don’t call you.”
If well mannered players like Chisamba express little sentiments… then for real the Chipolopolo is done. Totally agree, Zambia needs:
– Mweene
– Mbesuma
– Jacob
– Fwayo
– Kola
– Chisamba
– Kalaba
– Chansa
– Chamanga
– Chivuta
– Macheke
– Joseph
None above is even 35 years old.
But the Janza’s are preparing for FUTURE.
Boss, you list only contains one defender.
Iwe, kaChisamba, many thanks and respect for winning the Afcon. But after that, the team became MYSTERIOUSLY useless overnight… Can you explain that, please? Champions exiting at group stage? Did you know that you actually broke a record of champions exiting at humiliation stage? The team was finished, period. And that makes you uncomfortable to grace the bench? That entire team deserved to be benched, in exception of may be only 4 players. Normally coaches hang on to a team until fired. But did you know that your coaches then started volunteering to leave the team? Janza was brave enough to start purging the team; only Zambians are too much in a hurry for results. Rebuilding and patience are key right now, if you ask me.
Chisamba, after winning 2012 AFCON, why did you not use your experience to win 2013 edition? Your experience resulted in 1st round elimination. Thanks to experience….!!
If only you could take some time to analyse what you have said!!!? Crazy reasoning my good sir/lady!
Foreign players should be monitored to avoid a situation where those who warm benches at their clubs are made as first choice when it comes to playing for the nation team. Zambia’s performance has been bad of late because most of the so called professionals who are either bench warmers or merely feature in practice games at their clubs.
Having Chisamba on the bench does not make sense at all.
THERE IS TOO MUCH FINGERS FROM FAZ OUR THE SELECTION OF PLAYERS. IF FAZ IS FAILING TO GET A COACH THEN WE ARE DOOMED
Indeed there is a lot of kulyamo from these useless Local Coaches
Our Line up should be
1. Kennedy Mween
2. Joseph Nkausu
3. Joseph Musonda / Emmanuel Mbola
4. Kondwani Mtonga
5. Stopilla Sunzu
6. Nathan Sinkala
7. Chisamba Lungu / Felix Katongo
8. Isaac Chansa / Mukuka Mulenga
9. Colins Mbesuma/ Jacob Mulenga/ Sate Sate Kampamba
10. Christopher Katongo – Captain or Fwayo Tembo
11. Rainford Kalaba
Not these Gonga Players
I have a different view over the loss in the first round in 2013. The issue is that as much as I agree that we were defending champions, the group in which we were was very tough. Remember 2 of the reams me again in the finals.
Excuses xcuses xcuses xcuses xscuses xcuses xcuses
We should also rethink the league set up. Clearly it is not working. We have been miserable in the Continental competitions and the reason is tied to league football. May be we can adapt the conference style of the US or Brazil’s system. This 16 team super league format with four demotions has not helped us in any way. The reserve league or an under 16 league should be started. Ba FAZ what are you doing?
true chisamba so true. It’s like our coaches do not know where to use these players. C.lungu pa bench b.musakanya inside mwebantu sure twapapata. Let us not say bonse ama old players nabapwa some of them can contribute so well. Like chisamba. Uyu muntu emoachili watch him ku ural n see if you will say the same imiponto yu r saying. chisamba wilaisako mwandi it’s very embarrassing to compare yu naba under age players.
