PRESIDENT Lungu has ordered the evacuation of Archbishop of Lusaka Telesphore Mpundu to South Africa for specialist treatment, special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda has said.

Mr Chanda said in an interview yesterday that Archbishop Mpundu has since arrived in South Africa.

“His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has ordered the evacuation of Archbishop of Lusaka Telesphore Mpundu to South Africa for specialist treatment and His Grace has since arrived in South Africa,” Mr Chanda said.

Archbishop Mpundu was admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and was discharged last Wednesday.

  1. What is wrong with this country? All politicians fail to make our hospitals fit for specialist treatment. We must be cursed as country. When will UTH or another hospital in Zambia be upgraded to treat the VIPs?

It’s a shame especially when the president if the one quick to run to facilities outside the country. It just shows how our leaders have no sense of ownership in developing this country. I can imagine what would happen to hear David Cameron has gone to France for specialist medical treatment.

    • What is the procedure for sending patients out for treatment abroad and does it have to take the president to order for it? Is there a barometer for whose life is more valuable? there are thousands of people on the queue many die waiting.

    • Has UTH stopped functioning or is it that, may be all hospitals are closed beyond belief?

Obviously the last months before visionless PF bandits destroying the country, will be cumbersome.

Not so good that a country is even failing to treat a headache or toothache. Also RB back into KAMWENDO mujila, whilst the Zambian electorates are facing the harshest consequence of voting for visionless Lungu & PF.

This time the archbishop should have been retreating well at UTH, but alas, PF bandits obnoxiously care about confusion, corruption, hypocrisy & violence only. Bandit Nsanda too was rushed, Lungu has been a tourist show case in South Africa.
UTH is Painfully Failing~PF~ as the fled rapist Kanene beats the wife viciously. Nyele!

    • Excuse me. I thought the Catholics have the best hospitals in the world. Tell me again why the Zambian government is involved in this?

    • God is very busy destroying the cartel and it’s alliance partners. Isn’t this the bishop who campaigned with might for the evil and tribal regime of Michael Sata when he knew the evil this regime would bring upon Zambia? This man has been quiet since Sata, his in law, became president and sees no wrong with the PF regime’s brutality and corruption. Bishop Mpundu needs to seek God’s face and forgiveness, otherwise…………

    • Did he pay for this or will he meet the medical expenses for Mr Mpundu? Pres. Zuma was treated locally. Why Lungu treated outside?? The amount of money spent can be used to buy equipment for UTH wake up!!

  4. The budget of the Vatican dwarfs that of Zambia by far. Why doesn’t the Vatican arrange for the treatment of their own flock?

ka Lungu is just one big idiót..

    • That’s why dual citizenship will flop because other people can go and insult in Zambia knowing they have another life somewhere. There is no Zambian based in Zambia who can leash out such insults at the head of state. Not because of fear of expression but conscious wouldn’t just allow you.

  5. The other year it was RB having his knee being checked in South Africa. The other month it was Edgar Lungu who was having his throat checked in South Africa. Now it is the Archbishop. All this is done without shame! Who attends to the poor and their medical complications? And the same poor keep voting for such leaders? There is something wrong with Zambians. What a country!

  6. This utterly dull lazy bum Edgar and his silly directives why cant the Vatican send him? They have large investments with the Rothschilds of Britain, France and America, with the Hambros Bank, with the Credit Suisse in London and Zurich. In the US they have large investments with the Morgan Bank, the Chase-Manhattan Bank, the First National Bank of New York, the Bankers Trust Company, and others. The Vatican has billions of shares in the most powerful international corporations such as Gulf Oil, Shell, General Motors, Bethlehem Steel, GE, International Business Machines, T.W.A., etc. At a conservative estimate, these vampires have an amount to more than $500 million in just the U.S. alone.

Why can they not send their bishop whom is helping them brainwash docile Africans!!

  7. @The Real Olivia Pope (1.4),
ka Lungu is being played for a fóol. As usual.

The Vatican has the means to fly this guy on a private jet to the best medical facilities in Europe or wherever. But ka Lungu’s mind is too foggy from years and years of too much booze.

There are thousand of poor children dying in Zambia for lack of proper medical attention. Children who do not have the backing of a global juggernaut like the Catholic church.
