MMD President Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba has warned the Patriotic Front (PF) against actions likely to threaten the peace and stability that Zambians have enjoyed for 50 years.

In a stern statement released to the media on the reported scuffles involving PF cadres who attempted to attack the United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema, causing injuries to members of his entourage in Kitwe, Dr. Mumba cautioned the PF political leadership to do everything to bring their cadres under control and steer away from the culture of political violence that has been associated with the ruling party since its inception.

“It is very unfortunate that at a time when Zambians were beginning to breathe a sigh of relief that perhaps the extreme violence they experienced just prior to and after the 2011 elections was now over, political violence is once again rearing its ugly head. Zambians do not want to be reminded of the period that was characterized by unprovoked political clashes, land grabbing by cadres, frequent unwarranted arrests and harassment of opposition leaders, the creation of a general state of violence,
uncertainty which in some instances resulted in loss of precious lives.

“Just when the usually peaceful Zambians sincerely want to give the PF and its new President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu a fair chance to sort out the horrendous mess that this government has plunged this nation into, it appears the PF is incapable of changing itself as violence seems to be embedded in its DNA,” he said.

The MMD Presidential hopeful said the PF should never forget that Zambians are a peace-loving people and what has been happening in the recent past and beginning to happen again now just a few months
before the 2016 General Election cannot be tolerated as this could plunge the nation into chaos similar to what is currently happening in some countries on the continent.

He said it is obvious that the PF intends to begin instilling fear in the population using desperate violent means in the hope of remaining in power even when everyone has observed that they have no capacity whatsoever of managing the affairs of this nation and have inflicted untold suffering on the people.

He lamented that they have disastrously failed on every front of governance and have recklessly destroyed the prosperous country that was built by the Chiluba and Mwanawasa regimes and peacefully handed to them in 2011.

“The PF regime must be restrained and made aware that the welfare and safety of the people of Zambia is more important than their selfish personal political ambitions and their culture of violence must stop forthwith,” Dr. Mumba said.

  1. NM; stop wasting our time, we have heard that you are earmarked for an appointment by the failed party.

    • Zambians do not want to be reminded of the period that was characterized by unprovoked political clashes, land grabbing by cadres, frequent unwarranted arrests and harassment of opposition leaders, the creation of a general state of violence, uncertainty which in some instances resulted in loss of precious lives.

Very true Nevers we don’t want to be reminded about the thuggery that was in your MMD under the stewarship of one William Tekere ”the Malawian Thug” Banda. How easily you forget ba Nevers how a.sses were sliced in Chongwe by your MMD cadres atase! Uko!

    • The PF f00Ls will never accept sense! Nevers has spoken unity and One Zambia One Nation. Now these PF F00LS will always jump on with their useless insults. We shall get nowhere with such type behavior as a nation. You must be assured that ECL will still be in power in 2016 not that he is a good leader…..Hell No!!! It is because the intelligent people have been out numbered by the cadres…..It is really sad………Please can you now start your insults!

    • Good observation from Mr Mumba. This Govt is too harpharzard. I really don’t know what they stand for-their ideology/philosophy.

This govt is a real sham. They have messed the economy big time.

And their supporters can’t see all this. I think deep down they know, they are just scared and embarrassed to come out honest.

      Typical of zambian mentality.

    • @ 1.6 TRUE ZAMBIAN

      My compliments.
True to TRUE ZAMBIAN, but unfortunately today rule of the hungry mob can lead to rule of terror.
Scary prospect if we consider last 6-9 months.

  2. Tell these PF guys that their not the only ones with balls we can also fight back. When that happens Zambia will be an Governable.

    • @ Baboyi..

      All b-l-s and no brains.

What a prosperous and peaceful prospect for the benefit of this Nation driven by an cadre which cannot spell “ungovernable”.

A real bright future to be proud!!!

And you want any person with brain to be scared of your lot, from all side of divide, because if you do not win, Zambia will be “an Governable”?

I do believe that you do have “b-l-s”, as to the “thinking” power, sorry but is at same level as your brain, absolute vacuum.

  3. Nevers Mumba tell HH also to control his tribal party cadres whom he encouraged yesturday to fight with PF youths!!ITS A PITY THAT IN ZAMBIA TODAY ALL YOU POLITICIANS ARE JUST POLITICKING DAILY!!YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO.YOU’RE MAKING DEMOCRACY LOOK BAD IN OUR EYES.YOU CANT WAIT FOR AN ELECTION YEAR!PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU WON IN 2015,SO ALL U OTHER LUNATICS MUST WAIT FOR 2016 TO TRY YOUR LUCK!!WE ARE TIRED MWEE ATASE!!!

    • Yes I agree with you eddy that ECL will be in power in 2016 because there are more F00Ls like you now in Zambia than the WISE. eddy are you not tired of suffering……?Did God create you for suffering? Did God give you senses to choose right or wrong? Do you really think you will have a future with this type of leadership? I have no doubt that you are always drunk but one day you shall wake up from your slumber and see the levels of suffering in Kalikiliki, Kanyama, Bauleni, Zambia compound even your Chawama! Do you still buy the “more money in your pocket Slogan?” I am sure for you what is important is “Ifintu ni Lungu”

    • Now if ECL says “Wako ni Wako”, is this not a tribal sentiment? Tribalists are quick to see a spark in their friends’ eyes than seeing a LOG in their eyes. Actually I should have said that dull people always fall onto tribal arguments when they have nothing to use to defend their weak point.

  4. It is really sad that Nevers is the one to say this. MMD cadres where worse than what these PF cadres are doing. As Zambians we easily forget.

    • No they are not worse than the PF cadres and you know this. The violence under PF has never happened in this country before, maybe under UNIP with the vigilantes. In PF we have been introduced to :
      i. Land grabbing by cadres – Never happened in MMD
ii. Attacking people wearing opposition Tee-shirts – Never happened in MMD
iii. Cadres storming government offices and locking out officials – never happened in MMD.
iv. People being shot by cadres – never happened in MMD
      v. Cadres hacking people and each other with Pangas – never happened under MMD
vi. Storming into radio stations and attacking journalists – never happened under MMD
The list is endless so say something else boyi.

  5. Nevers is right. Without security, the nation cannot forge ahead. Security should be given top priority for any tangible development to be achieved.

  6. This is the language which leaders should always peddle. I have seen that simple minds have already swayed the message towards someboy else. Nevers, please continue preaching this message, it does build.

  7. I strongly agree with you Dr. Mumba and thank you for finally speaking out was beginning to get worried as in why you were quite to all this damage being cause by the PF govt. Lets repair the watch and prepare it for 2016. paNkolocko

  8. @Man Kenya-sometimes you sound sensible like this one!Mumba is very correct on this one,PF has really failed in all aspects of human development.Only eddy,Chisenga.Dalitso & other PF sycophants are failing to be realistic & radical.Adults are believed to be critical, proactive, rational & having a helicopter view on social & economical national development issues! However, this shows how PF cronies are, ever anathema to good governance fundamentals as if were born from one parent-very dull in all simple matters be it simple literature in any article! Can not comprehend anything good-no common sense in all issues of national development!

  9. He has woken up after a lengthy slumber! Nevers Mumba has been very quiet. I really thought that he had left the country. He has rightly spoken against the violence being perpetuated against political opponents. PF needs to stop the violence!

    • The purpose of PF violence is one: to nip in the bud any form of mature issue based political discourse amongst citizenry to hold those accountable for

      bankrupting the country
plunging the nation into greek-style unpayable debt
      unprecedented levels of corruption
intolerance to diversity and driving country to a one party state
clamping press freedom and freedom of associaton
      power cuts
increase in prices of fuel, mealie meal, bus fares and cost of living

  10. @ TRUE ZAMBIAN,

Is it the duty of the Government to manage each and everyone simply because its Government? This kind of thinking is a failed Socialism in Russia! Our people need to be very serious with their lives and also be innovative.

Such belief that everything is given to everyone free of charge by Government has lamentably failed worldwide. I would rather tell my children to be more competitive and stop being sorry for themselves unnecessarily.

Hard work, commitment, focus and determination is what takes people out of poverty and not Government. Government can only provide opportunities which I believe PF is seriously doing. Those who priotize bars and night clubs will reap the fruits of such and those who are serious with school will definitely excel. It has happened to…

  11. BA NEVERS THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING UP. YOU ARE A GENTLEMAN AND EVERYTIME YOU SPEAK, YOU MAKE SENSE. ALABI, DORA AND MUTATI ARE THE ONES WHO SPOILED YOUR CHANCES.

DO NOT DESPAIR. EVERY GENUINE ZAMBIAN CAN SEE NOW THAT THE ONLY HOPE ZAMBIA HAS IS THE RETURN OF THE MMD UNDER YOU. ALABI IS A NATIONAL DISGRACE. PLEASE REGROUP, GOD HAS REMOVED THE HORRIBLE SMELLY EGGS FOR YOU. PF CANNOT GO FOR ANOTHER TERM. I WAS WORRIED WHEN I HEARD THAT YOU WERE BEING ENTICED BY THEM TO JOIN THEM. THANK YOU THAT YOU STILL HAVE THE ‘DON’T KUTINA” SPIRIT. ZAMBIA NEEDS YOU OTHER WISE WE WILL BE CRYING THE WAY THE CONGOLESE AND BURUNDI ARE CRYING AND RUNNIG AWAY FROM THEIR COUNTRIES. THAT BURUNDI PRESIDENT IS THE SAME LIKE ALABI, REFUSING TO ACCEPT WHEN HIS TIME IS OVER.

    LET US GUARD OUR PEACE.

  12. This is what we call political maturity. Thank’s Dr Mumba. PF thugs think they are above the law. This ***** of a president can’t differentiate between what is wrong and what is right. All he knows is dose while on duty.
    Mugwileni uyo azagwa chagwa!
    Economy yagwa!
    Security yagwa!
    Freedom of movement yagwa!
    Malaiti yagwa!
    Njala yagwa!
the list goes on and on.
    Zambians will decide in 2016.

  13. @TRUE ZAMBIAN:its you who is suffering my dear!i never depend on Govt for my living!!Govt gave me higher education from a european university and am self employed doing very fine!!SO ITS U WHO DEPEND ON YOUR god HH WHO IS SUFFERING!!THERE NO GOVT HERE IN ZAMBIA WHICH WILL MAKE EVERYONE RICH OR DELIVER FOOD ON YOUR TABLE!!NOT EVEN YOUR FELLOW TONGA HH WILL DO THAT!!So stop cheating people and just work hard my dear!!YES PF WILL RETAIN POWER IN 2016 AND EASILY SO BCOZ THERE IS NO STRONG OPPOSITION IN ZAMBIA.HOW CAN YOUR HH MAKE GBM HIS VICE PRESIDENT AND HOPE TO WIN BEMBA VOTES?GBM HAS NO SUPPORT.KASAMA CENTRAL BY ELECTION WILL BE WON BY ANY PF CANDIDATE AND IN 2016 EDGAR LUNGU WILL WIN IN NORTHERN-MARK MY WORDS!!YOUR HH IS NEVER AN OPTION TO US!!

    • @Eddy

Which govt gave you a european education?

And since you claim to have a european education, why did you miss out on the role of the oppositon and diversity in the political landscape?

You are not suffering perhaps you are amongst the few who are rich and fortunate ( I am very rich for your information and was schooled using private resources in the UK, USA, France, Australia and in Belgium). But that is to miss the point. Your individual comfort is absolutely useless compared to the many poor and suffering zambians in chamboli, kamitonte, singulupo, malata, libuyu, zambia compound, chigomeke etc.

Lower your pride and consider the bulk of this population who have absoutely no hope as long as this government continues with its disastrous social and economic policies.
