Police yesterday morning picked up an unknown woman near Lusaka Silverest Gardens who was attacked by unknown people.
The victim was discovered yesterday morning at the junction of Great East and Chongwe Road leading to Silverest Gardens.
A check by a ZANIS crew at the scene found the woman mumbling although what she was saying was not clear.
The woman, who was also bleeding heavily from her nose, had her lower garments stripped off by the suspected unknown attackers.
But Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the police had not yet received a formal report on the matter by press time.
‘Good Samaritans’ got the wounded woman from the scene and took her to an unknown hospital for medical attention.
And Police in Nchelenge district has opened a file of inquiry for the suspected murder of an unidentified man in his 20s.
Luapula Province Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila said an unidentified body of a man was discovered floating on Mweru Lake near Isabi Fisheries investment yesterday.
Mr Namachila said the body was discovered and reported by a 19-year-old man of Kapepa village in Kambwali Chiefdom who was on a swimming expedition at around 14: 00 hours.
Mr Namachila said the officers that rushed to the scene found the body had been retrieved by the members of the general public.
He however said a physical check on the body revealed a deep cut on the head which made the police suspect foul play and that in the light of the ensuing evidence a file of inquiry for murder has been opened.
“The physical check on the body revealed a very deep cut on the head and we suspect that the victim could have been murdered and thrown into the water to destroy evidence,” he said.
The Luapula Provincial Police chief said the corpse is lying at Saint Paul’s Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and urged members of the general public that may be missing a male relative to contact health authorities.

Thanks LT. Your reporting is super. You could win a prize for this kind of reporting.
1. too many unknowns in the story. My English teacher would give you a 0% in English
2. There is no such thing as junction of Great East Road and Chongwe road. Chongwe is on Great East Road
A strong appeal to the Ministry of Home Affairs can we have a specialist dept that handles serious crimes, CID is a joke. We need a dept that operates on its own, similar to RATSA. Such attacks on women are now becoming to common please lets do something about this..such reports make my blood boil.
So many unknowns will bring unknown report.
