Mongu DC disappointed with Youth Empowerment Fund recovery rate

Share

Mongu District Commissioner is saddened by the low recovery rate for 2013 and 2014 Youth Empowerment Funds in Mongu District of Western Province.

Speaking to ZANIS in a walk in interview at his office yesterday, Susiku Kamona said the district collected only about 2% of the loan grants for the 2013 and 2014 Youths budgetary allocated to the province.

Mr. Kamona said he was disturbed with the escalating mismanagement of the public funds given to youths in the district and asked them to use the money for the intended purposes.

Mr. Kamona noted that the monetary fund given to youths by the government is meant to empower them and other youths in the district.

He has since appealed to youths in the district to venture into viable businesses that would help them generate income and plough back the profit to the government treasury.

The Mongu District Commissioner has since called for prudent utilisation of the One million five hundred and twenty thousand kwacha funds released for 2015 and 2016 youths empowerment through the Ministry of Youths and Sports.

Mr Kamona has since called on youths to submit their workable business proposals to the district administration in order to access the funds.

  1. Why is the District Commisioner pretending to be surprised and disappointed at the recovery of loans? We all know what happens with the free money govt dishes out in form of loans without proper recovery plans.

  2. Nivaboma, nivatu mentality by the ruling party cadres, who may undoubtedly have been the majority beneficiaries! 2% recovery sure, which is not even enough to recover the administration costs for advancing such loans. Also too much political interference and apeasement.

  3. Mr Kamona, how do you expect youths who have not gone far with their education to submit workable business proposals? Of course they will go to some “consultant,” who will get a 20% cut when the said youths manage to access the funds and part of the remainder will be spent on cell phones, bling etc and some merchandise to be sold from a kantemba at a market somewhere!
