THE Patriotic Front (PF) central committee yesterday unanimously affirmed its decision to adopt President Lungu as its presidential candidate in the 2016 Presidential elections.

Party secretary general Davis Chama said the decision is because the party does not want a repeat of what happened last year after the demise of late President Sata.

“The central committee, which met this morning, has affirmed the decision interpreting our party constitution that we already have our presidential candidate for 2016 in the name of President Lungu.

“This is according to our party,” he said.

Mr Chama was addressing journalists at State House yesterday after a PF central committee meeting.

He said the party convention which was held last year after the death of President Sata gave President Lungu a five-year mandate.
“We are just affirming the decision which was made last year when we adopted President Lungu at the convention,” he said.

Mr Chama has since advised members with presidential ambitions to wait for the next party convention in 2019.

“We held our convention last year, where we gave the mandate to President Lungu, so those with presidential ambitions should wait until 2019,” Mr Chama said.

Meanwhile, the PF has named its three candidates for Lubanseshi, Solwezi West and Kasama Central parliamentary by-elections.

The three are Kelvin Sampa for Kasama central, George Mwamba Penda, a former Luwingu District Commissioner, for Lubansenshi and Martin Mbaya, a former MMD member and local businessman, for Solwezi West.

Mr Sampa said that although the declaration of the Kasama Central seat as vacant is being contested in court, the PF would like to have a candidate ready.

Meanwhile, Mr Chama said it is unfortunate that some people who masquerade as leaders are duping farmers of their maize.

He said government will remain committed to addressing concerns of every Zambian, including farmers.

Mr Chama has advised farmers against selling their maize to unrealistic people.

Meanwhile, the PF in Isoka has implored the electorate to rally behind the leadership of President Lungu, who has a passion to develop the country.

PF Isoka district information and publicity secretary Elijah Sinkolongwe said in an interview recently that government has done a lot of development projects which have brought about a new face to the district.

“For the first time since independence we are seeing massive road constructions, street lighting and constructions of health centres and schools. Our President is truly taking development to all parts of the country,” he said.

He said come 2016 elections, the people will vote for President Lungu so that he continues his works.

  1. I have read this before his excellency, He is asleep in deep sleep. ZZZZ Prepare Tomato juice please for the morning.

    Thanks

  2. Here we go again, these communist PF?
Why are they scared of conversion, what is Miles Sampa and the Simusaa to say over these closed do elections of a PF president? I am afraid the parliament may elect the republican president.

  3. Democracy at work according to one-party state. Shame that appointed “democratic” tribalist Chama and his appointing authority are afraid of asking party members for their opinion.

  4. The opposition seem to be afraid of EL as they know very well that PF has done its home work already. They are praying to see confusions in PF……unfortunately the ruling party seem to be solid a big united force to reckon with.

  5. President Lungu has brought sanity and decency to Zambian politics.Unfortunately the Cartel and the two so called friends are now panicking trying to look for imaginary faults.PF in many people’s view still remains the favourite going by what they have done in a short period of time.

  6. If pf think they are popular, let there be fair elections in 2016. Everyone to vote from 0600 to 18oo, no rigging, no crookedness, not the way the jan ’15 election was handled.

  7. @mboo
You are in for a rude shock again in 2016 because political analysts predict that PF will do kolopa.com again going by their impressive performance so far.Even farmers are now well taken care of……. For some of you just remain in the opposition and continue offering checks and balances.

  8. It is far better to sale my maize even at k50 and get cash upon delivery than supply and get paid after 6 mths when the currency is weakening at an alarming rate.

  9. Nostradamus, “Here we go again, these communist PF?

Nostradamus when was the last time UpDn held a convention(sorry a management meeting)? More than 10 years ago. Why don’t you ask HH to hold a convention. Does UpDn even have a central committee (sorry a management team)? Who is in the management team and who elected them to those positions in the team? My guess is that all of them were appointed by HH to the team. What I know is that UpDn is HH and HH is UpDn.

  10. Then there is no democracy in PF , why not allow other people to run who are interested to run
Sampa, open your eyes, join other party, it’s not wealth a party to fight for. If Chagwa wins, he is going to through all sata’s people. Ifintu tafilibwino mu PF , abena chenda Bali quiet, scott

  11. @John Kabengele

You are a cadre for up and down…….PF is now much stronger than before and you seem to be very worried in your camp.Sampa is 100% PF and he knows that one day God will give him the opportunity. He is not like fatty Joe who is in a hurry and has messed up his future politically.

  12. Sakwiba Sikota may have been a better Presido for up and down.Due to tribal politics,HH has failed lamentably and i can foresee him calling it a day after 2016 to concentrate on milking his animals. We shall see where the new friend will go because i don’t think the 100% up and down will allow him to lead the party.

  13. Comment:let’s unite as one. In the eyes of God we are all one. Let’s love one another.LOVE covers multitude of sins. One zambia one nation
