MINISTER of Information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili has castigated United Party for National Development (UPND) and Rainbow Party leaders for misleading the nation that President Lungu is to blame for the depreciation of the Kwacha and the power deficit the country is experiencing.

Mr Kambwili, who is chief Government spokesperson, said at a rally in Kitwe yesterday that the depreciation of the Kwacha has been caused by global economic challenges that have affected even South African and Chinese currencies.

He said UPND should find other things to tell the Zambians which the Patriotic Front (PF) has not done rather than blaming the depreciation of the Kwacha and power deficit on President Lungu and the ruling party.

He said the load-shedding being experienced was purely because of the poor rainfall that was experienced last year. “President Lungu does not bring rains or control the dollar. People should not be cheated that President Lungu is to blame for the load-shedding and depreciation of the Kwacha. South Africa and China are also going through the same problem with their currencies,” said Mr Kambwili.

He said people like Rainbow Party leader Wynter Kabimba should not be taken seriously.

He also banned the wearing of berets and introduced PF-branded hats, saying some opposition political parties have been using berets to attack people to paint a picture that such acts were being committed by members of the PF.

PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri urged Zambians to continue rejecting opposition leaders who caused misery on Copperbelt residents through their role in the privatisation of mines.

Ms Phiri said the voting pattern in Southern Province should show citizens from other provinces to avoid voting on tribal lines.

She also cautioned new members against causing confusion in constituencies by fighting incumbent members of Parliament in their quest to be adopted ahead of the 2016 elections.

She also urged the Copperbelt PF leadership to remain focused.

Deputy Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development Richard Musukwa said President Lungu will not allow the closure of mines because of the drastic fall of copper prices on the international market.

Mr Musukwa said PF is a party for the poor Zambians and that it will continue implementing policies aimed at bettering their social and economic welfare through the provision of farming inputs on time, construction of health, education and road infrastructure. PF chairman Stephen Kainga said the PF on the Copperbelt was still strong.

  1. So if the kwacha appreciated and the economy was doing fine due to global effects would these people say that its because of the Global economy is dong fine or they will hero worship themselves.

    Anyway Zambians are docile………….

  2. EACH TIME ANY OF THE PF LEADERS OPEN THEIR MOUTH THEY VOMIT NONSENSE, INCLUDING THEIR PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT LUNGU IS TO BLAME FOR THE MESS THE COUNTRY IS IN BECAUSE HE HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY LEADERSHIP TO STEER THE COUNTRY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THIS FACT IS NOT DISPUTABLE. THE WAY FORWARD FOR ZAMBIA IS GET RID OF THESE GOOD FOR NOTHING SO CALLED LEADERS AND REPLACE THEM WITH CAPABLE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT IN SHORT SUPPLY IN ZAMBIA.
MUMBI PHIRI’S TRIBALISM WILL TAKE PF NOWHERE. SHE SHOULD KNOW THAT SOUTHERN PROVINCE IS PART OF ZAMBIA AND THE PEOPLE THERE ARE ZAMBIANS WHO HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE AS THEY WISH JUST LIKE THE PEOPLE WHERE MUMBI COMES FROM HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE AS THEY WISH. WHAT IS ACTUALLY IMPORTANT IN A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY LIKE OURS IS TO VOTE FOR CAPABLE PEOPLE WHO…

  3. I always wonder and question kambwili’s education backyard, this man cant realise that lungu is in the driving seat whilst opposition parties are their for checks and balance for party in power and advise where they have failed, this man has no proper education, pf admit you have failed you’re in power but you’ve failed to stabilise kwacha, load shedding, all you know is cabinet in its last sitting has approved this much US$?loan frm?this is how you accept that lungu is running the affairs of govt well, kuya 2016,we ready for war if anything might be done to manipulate the election results, you baboons

  4. Actually am happy that younglady Mushota has come to senses that tribal voting and hate shall not take us any where, same to Mumbi Phiri, i’ve accepted why the Cobra(MCS) discarded you off pf but ba lungu due to yo tribal hate & politics brought you in pf,u’re becoming like kapita whom you thought shall add sense to pf but thank God for him to leave upnd which has seen Gbm bringing northerners into upnd, now we’re waitng for the lubansenshi outcome which panicking pf u’re busy buying voters the money you were supposed to pay retirees their leave terminal benefits

  5. OK. I’ll bite. So the currency’s performance has nothing to do with you guys. So why exactly has our kwacha performed worse than any other currency in existence? Why are our problems so much worse than any other country on the planet? What is the back up plan? At the moment we could win best performance if the category was Deflection with Smoke and Mirrors…

  6. My dog barking has more intelligent things to say than this M0R0N!

Kambwili, just view yourself on ZNBC and see what an arsehole you look like. Even a mirror might help!

How is it possible that a heap of excrement like this is appointed a MINISTER!???????

Pathetic Government. Zambia deserves better than this rubbish.

  7. As much as I hate Wynter, I would love it if five of his MPs got some seats in Parliament as those MPs in there are too comfortable and not doing anything for the country in terms of keeping these crooks accountable.

  8. Good and solid infrastructure is one of those conditions which function as an enabler of economic development to enhance the living conditions of citizens. In the Zambian context, we are talking of roads, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, telecommunications, hospitals, schools, and colleges. In my view, this latest crisis in electricity generation is a culmination of decades of poor planning, mismanagement and insufficient investment into electricity generation infrastructure by successive governments. This latest power deficit has nothing to do with President Lungu. Those of you interested in decent and honest politics should ask HH this question; when was the last time he rode on a scheduled and comfortable train ride from Livingstone to Lusaka vice-versa. This…

  9. Those of you interested in decent and honest politics should ask HH this question; when was the last time he rode on a scheduled and comfortable train ride from Livingstone to Lusaka vice-versa. This does not happen because Zambia as a country has not bothered to invest in railways. HH will never give you a costed plan of infrastructural development because he wants to lie to you

  10. Open Letter to my President
Zambia is currently going through a difficult time, it has been hit left, right and centre. The question is
what has gone so wrong? This is a problem for every Zambian regardless of where you are either in
Zambia or in diaspora, we are all in this together. Believe you me that this problem will not just
disappear in thin air until we all come together and find a solution. Here are some of what I think
should be solutions to resolve some of the current problems:
Urgent Actions to Improve Government Revenue Collection.
Computerising all government revenue collection centres in Zambia is critical and must be addressed
without any delays at all. Mr President this is not rocket science, computerising these institutions…

  11. To blame Edgar Lungu for the inflation and power mess Zambia is facing is clearly unreasonable. The problems of blackouts is long-term and cannot be heaped on someone who has been president for less than a year. Even if he was to start building more power stations immediately after ascending to power on his swearing day, somewhere after February 20, 2015, he wouldn’t have managed to cover up the 650MW power deficit.

We could blame him for the inflation, but the Kwacha was already fragile during the presidential elections, coupled with the scare tactics from the opposition. So to say, the inflation cannot be the sole cause of Edgar’s poor management, other factors, some sinister, are actually contributing. If you scare away the investors, don’t expect the Kwacha to stabilize…

  12. Sometimes its important understand Global economies in perspective and see what can succeed for Zambia economic diversification You see you can sing about the kwacha but if trades and assets are not well diversified in Zambia it shall always be Look at the growth per sector for instance its not long-term

What is the way forward is not also to sing diversification rather THE CREATIVITY AND INNOVATIVENESS of the citizens behind that diversifications because without it GOES BACK TO THE same old scenario of mining to sell for those not so rich in resources to INNOVATIVELY PRODUCE add value and send at a cost to Zambia Look at countries like Switzerland in…

  13. in chocolate yet GHANA and Ivory Coast produce Cocoa Countries like Japan and Korea in steel yet Australia and Africa produce the ore Botswana does the diamonds yet India in surat dominates Thailand and Indonesia including Malaysia yet China and Japan Cook the rubber

Its diversification but with INNOVATION CREATIVITY in capital amongst the citizens that will make it work not one single person also

  14. You will also need to see the effect further in the FEDs on the rate hike in the emerging markets category
You will need to know when emerging markets have performed well from such measures in the expansionary or other in the global sense and ensure you respond accordingly as inflows and outflows change course in response
Know the outcomes in restrictive and expansive policy formation by China Europe Asia and the Americas and see the effect to Zambia and the reason why creativity and innovation is now better than ever before no following the wind

  15. Yu will need to know the monetary policy direction in the global correlated super economies and know the intended effect on the Zambian economy in particular When its a stringent or stance in monitory policy and know the behaviour in tactical allocation by your investors ZAMBIA as they rebalance their portfolios in restrictive and expansive trying to position themselves accordingly in these periods leaving others better or worse-off as they change investing decisions either in commodities or equities or other its a business decisions and notice that the kwacha always gets caught up and those managing the kwacha must then be equal to the task
Its good to observe also that Rates have…

  16. always been restrictive slightly higher in times than they have been a few in expansive in this case the FEDs Its good to also relate that emerging markets like Zambia have behaved well in restrictive times than expansive because of the commodity inclination and its something to see generally Investors will look to developing markets in restrictive times in search of that alpha but others though still remain conservative

Its therefore important to devise good rescue plans and creativity in Zambia to ensure that the companies act in business rescue provisions are refined to ensure current to these challenges of business risk management expanding the financing methods and attracting…

  17. attracting venture capitals and other rescue funds appropriately as opposed to winding or placing companies on recess The economy should not be too small to fail that is why its a cycle self insulating and sustaining One straight thinking is always a cause of many solvable solutions and not held at ransom

Stop with this copy and paste. There is only ONE central issue in collapse of Zambian economy.
Do you know which one financial 1mbecile?
Its CONFIDENCE, not CONFIDENCE TRICKSTER. Just old fashioned confidence.
If there is no CONFIDENCE, all the rest its just embroidery.
Now go and learn to use brain instead of copy and paste.

  19. The government was given a lot of money to rehabilitate kariba, ofcourse the president is answerable for all that so we will keep blaming him; Where are the millions of dollars gone and all the euro bonds?

  20. RB managed to hold the economy together in 2009 global recession. PF are total failures and whoever supported PF is equally a failure. kwacha started loosing grip long before the global problems, to me edger kachasu lungu is to blame for all these problems. the way forward is forward with HH. don’t vote to please the dead(sata), but vote to secure the future of your children and children children……………….. please let the dead bury themselves.

  21. Comment: Hon Kambwili, its not that the opposition don’t known the world economical challenges but they are playing on peoples ignorance coupled with there desperation. Hh is an economist. That’s why we call him a liar because he wants to enter state house at any cost. Nowadays most Zambians are educated and can read between the line.

  22. I see so you when you analyse the comments above and see the statements made by kambwili you do not see further into the KWACHA economics No matter what you propose will have to be in resources You will need to take the INNOVATIVES APPROACH and tame your insults that shows the level of KWACHA

If you are challenged its time you thought and invested in Education also May be you can sit on the wall street like me and discuss on one to one with reasoning people

I know the limitation of the minister but will not agree with your cheap reasoning I can give you my email and my number may be I can help shape your thinking and avoid speculative…

  23. conversations
At least I can confidently say I know the Zambian economic environment Policy framework and see the Global Policies from FED to EURO to Shanghai and see the effect first HAND

I know the direction the KWACHA will take and We just need to be responsible and support the small things that are cushioning the effects

Professionally will not comment further but if you asked I Can show you the PATH of the KWACHA and other aggregates and you will confirm and aggree within reasonable confidence

I need to prove to you okay Come we discuss
