President Edgar Lungu has declared Tuesday, October 20, 2015 as a day of national mourning in honour of the late former Secretary to the Cabinet Joshua Kanganja who dies on Thursday last week.

Dr. Kanganja died at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka after an illness and will be buried tomorrow at Leopard’s Hill Memorial Park.

His burial will be preceded by a valedictory service at Supreme Court and Church Service which will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska announced in a press statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka that the period of national mourning will start at 06:00 hours and end at 18:00 hours.

Dr. Msiska said all flags will fly at half-mast while activities of entertainment nature will be postponed or cancelled during the period of national mourning.

The late former Secretary to the Cabinet was a Law graduate from the University of Zambia and served in various portfolios in all the five governments except during President Lungu’s tenure.

The funeral of the late Dr. Kanganja is being held at his farm house in Kabangwe area off Great North Road near St. Eugene DMI University.

  1. MHSRIP. Two late good workers in the picture. LT your Quote under the picture is newly printed. Surely you cant have forgotten that its His late Excellency George Kunda.

  2. MHSRIP. Its only in Zambia where days of National Mourning are just declared with no thought for the living. Then again we have a lazy bum in State House who doesn’t know what a hard days work is!

  3. LT, seriously this is the most appropriate picture of Kanganja you could find or record? Him with an ex President, deceased VP and a convict? I would not want to be remembered in such light. That said, the most uplifting piece of information for me from this article is that he died in UTH…and not at Morningside, or Milpark hospital in JHB. No malice intended.

  4. To die in UTH is not a problem let us improve our hospitals and lead our leaders to Christ so that even if one dies in Zambia or abroad must have enternal life with Christ. How many of our late leaders are with Christ? its warring .Romans 10:9-10. Life without Christ is nothing.for Christ came that we may have life in full. John 10:10.
