UPND's Hakainde Hichilema
UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema

The Patriotic Front (PF) has embarked on a programme to rig the 2016 general elections, United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has disclosed.

But PF secretary general Davis Chama said Mr Hichilema was facing a phobia of losing the general elections which would ultimately invalidate his ambitions of ever becoming president of the country.

Mr Hichilema maintained that he won the January presidential election by a small margin and that was why the ruling party allegedly managed to manipulate the votes in favour of President Edgar Lungu.

Speaking at a media briefing at the UPND secretariat yesterday, Mr Hichilema told party members that the only way to guard against rigging was for the UPND to win the 2016 general elections with a landslide. Mr Hichilema revealed that he was personally organizing youths across the country to register as voters and that he would ensure that by the end of the registration exercise, more than 1000 new voters would have been captured through his efforts.

Mr Hichilema claimed that the PF had failed to govern the country and that Zambians were seeing the UPND as the hope and alternative to take over the governance of the country.

He said he was going to ensure that the UPND was going to sensitise its members and sympathizers to counter electoral fraud because he was certain that the opposition political party was destined for victory next year.

The UPND leader said only voting in large numbers and a landslide victory for the UPND was the surest way of protecting the votes and urged the supporters to continue with their vigorous campaign of recruiting new members.

“The UPND family has been growing exponentially and we are the only remaining political party that is giving hope to Zambians. We won the presidential election in January but because our victory was with a small margin, our vote was stolen. The only secure way of protecting our vote and victory next year is to win by a landslide because only then will it be difficult for the PF to rig the elections. As a personal commitment to our victory, I will make sure that more than 1000 voters are registered through my efforts and it is my expectation that the general membership should do the same,” Mr Hichilema said.

But Mr Chama said Mr Hichilema had lost hope of ever wining the elections in his political career and was inventing reasons to sooth his impending defeat.
Mr Chama said Mr Hichilema would be forced to go into political retirement after losing the general elections next year because the UPND would eventually be taken over by his vice-president for administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.

Mr Chama said it was impossible for elections to be rigged in Zambia because the electoral system was fool-proof.

He explained that the electoral system in Zambia was so transparent that even the ballot boxes were transparent while all political parties participating in the elections were free to have their agents in all the gazetted polling stations.

“Mr Hichilema knows he is going to lose the elections next year and he is inventing reasons to sooth this impending defeat. He will be retired next year and that is why as the PF we sent an ambassador to the UPND in the name of Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba to take over from Mr Hichilema. So rigging elections is not as easy as Mr Hichilema is imagining and the MMD would still be in Government because they had the powers but could not rig the elections,” Mr Chama said.

  1. I think leaders must learn to move away from griping past the concession speech. Why is it so common for African political players to always hurl up conspiracy and innuendo after an electoral defeat? Prepare for 2016 and address any shortfalls regardless of how small that may have contributed to either a genuine loss or a ‘rigged’ electoral defeat. Maturity is about coming back with a new strategy and not preparing a launch pad for whimpering and tantrums. It is almost as if you are preparing ground for protest even before you know whether you will be beat up or not…

    • Ba H H naimwe – who told you that you won the 2015 presidential by-election? You think Bembas, Ngonis, Chewas, Tumbukas, Mambwe/Namwangas, Bisas and other non-Tongas can vote for you!?

It will take a long, long time for a Tonga to rule Zambia – that is the “sad” reality of Zambian politics. Sorry mate – as we say in Australia.

  2. HH Loser keep on imaging things. You sold the mines at an under valued amounts, you want to authorise the movement of cattle in town centre, you want to authorise tribal politics as evidenced by the voting pattern of January 2015 were only 90% of your votes came from the bantu stan of southern province, you nder pay your workers, you have not mentioned how you accrued your wealth, you donot joke with people you are a freemanson a move which you have not disputed

  3. HH prepare to cry again. People of Zambia know what the PF government has done for them.PF is a party across the country. HH you shunned players because you are a freemanson which is witchcraft, there has never been a convention in UPND since the death of our gallant leader Underson Mazoka were Muntinta Mazoka said UPND can only be led by a Tonga dispute this if am lying,Sakwiba Sikota should have taken over UPND but you forcibly chased him from the party a move which he can attest to if called upon.Look at the number of MPS you have in parliament even you had won in January we were to impeach you because of 2/3 majority our pf MPS.

  6. HH is right. Lungu needs to be white washed in 2016 so that he can go back to Chawama and his Jemason. Lungu is making all the classic mistakes of incompetents and eroding his kaponya Bemba base.

    • It is true but sorry history doesn’t repeat itself so closely and moreover the parameters that led to MMDs defeat by by mighty PF are very different all together. PF and Mr Sata were so powerful and popular that even the blind could see it. Your Under 5 has is not liked by the majority Zambians because of his tribalism and pompous nature. He desrepects everyone but himself and don’t forget that people are still very hate with the way you people voted in January 2015. Just wait for 2016 and you will know what we mean. PF is for the majority poor and it’s fulfilling it’s developmental promise campaigns. What more can we ask for?

    • This exactly what sata would have been saying had he been in HH position. Every credible political analyst would agree to this point. The only thing working against HH is his birth place and tribe. Zambians a tribal in nature. They hate Tonga’s no one knows quite why. Sata never had a convention yet he stood for an election an won. HH came through a convention, yes it was nasty but so was the kabwe PF convention. People where hacked with panga’s etc, but because there was no Tonga there , it was said to be a great success yet people where elected by show of hands. Zambia Must Change Zambia must embrace all, Zambia must not despise this man because of his tribe it is not a positive attitude to have to very bad and unacceptabe. To even think a nation fasted and prayed for reconciliation…

  9. There you again HH and your UPND insulting and disrespecting all of us from the compounds (Chawama). Honestly, is it a sin to stay in Kanyama, Matero, Mandevu, Kalingalinga, Mtendere, Bauleni, Chamboli, Mikomfwa, Luansobe, Kamuchanga or any other ghetto? Well, this is not the first time HH is insulting and belittling us. It’s now very clear that HH does not recognise President Lungu because he comes from one of our compounds.
Brothers and sisters, mothers and father’s, marketeers, bashing maini you have heard it again for yourselves. Simply because we come from these neighbourhoods to HH and UPND nothing good can come from there.
President Lungu, have our massive votes come 2016 and God bless you and continue developing Zambia.

    • iwe, you think its normal to stay in chawama olo kalingalinga, in ghettos and what not? man is not meant to live in such conditions. the point is, we should transform our compounds into uptown villas worthy of human habitation. thats the problem you have, you have lived in misery too long that you think its normal to live like that. well, it not. its not belittling you to want you to have a better life style. dont get used to medicrity in living conditions, leaders etc. aspire for better.

  11. To be honesty there was no rigging at all just because of succession wrangles in PF, HH managed to be that close, mind you HH campaigned for 90 days while ECL only 19 days. so these two factors were at play for HH to be that close. The true election test for HH is 2016, let’s see how far close he comes this time around then we will know whether his claims are so. Moreover Guy Scot could not have allowed that, every one knows the position Guy Scot took. So i doubt that rigging hypothesis.

    • Looming massive defeat of HH and UPND is very evident. Despite the global and natural challenges our country has faced, it is very evidently clear that President Lungu is the President for the next jubilee going by the determination, focus and hard work of President Lungu.
Our neighbouring countries are now coming to learn from Zambia from the positive developmental achievements Zambia is recording. All projects left by our late father Michael Sata are either completed or being worked on vigorously by President Lungu. This has elated many Zambians who feared the massive projects would be aburndoned. This is the thing which has made HH to start panicking and accusing the PF of starting to rig the elections.
To all PF members let’s unite and embark of serious massive recruitment of new…

  13. chama is a lunatic,at it is impossible to rig in zambia, mazoka won in 2001 and i caught some pipo in matero,i took the culprits to matero police with evidence ,and electoral commission but their police did nothing and the electoral commission told me that it alter the final results.
my suggestion is to give body cameras to monitors, and avoid entrusting ma soldier ferrying those ballot boxes .rigging happens mostly when those casted votes are being ferried to the main center,i discovered that some polling stations will have their materials pick but another driver will pass at that some location to pick up what they term, reminders(rigged ).what HH and team need to do is to work with ex op staffs.

    • That was 2001 iwe man naiwe, another Tonga as usual. Things have changed and please move on, Mazoka Mazoka, who was he kanshi? Let President Lungu work, what’s wrong with you people? HH is an invalid politically and I font know why certain people even waste their time.

    • To every well meaning patriotic Zambian who is tired and embarrassed at the missmangment, mediocracy non accountability of our leaders as exhibited by kambwili et Al,
We can help by phoning home to influence voting patterns starting with family. Let’s help our Zambia by getting rid of these theives.

The pipo can see your stealing and missmangment to enrich your selves while the majority suffer, all the while blaming everything else from the weather, the Chinese to the global economy.

  16. Who are HH’s advisers? Who are his strategists? Does he have any? Maybe he just has groupies hanging around?

Can this man put money where his mouth is an tell us by how much he won! Otherwise he’s nothing but a sore and bitter loser!

Is UPND so dependant and reliant on this chap that they can’t get rid of him?

  17. HH you are lying. You never won the elections. You will prove that your advisers told you lies. 2016 will take you out of politics for the following reasons:
1 We learnt how to vote from the Tongas- HH 8000 EL 2
2 You failed to attend prayers- You are a freemasonist
3 You are bitter- Still cannot accept that EL is president

Can he analyze the voter turn out from his strongholds against the rest.

  19. One thing I salute you for HH is your involvement to mobilise people to register and vote while these lazy “bankums’ in PF are still building their hopes on past glory of old voters who may never vote. Sata won the similar way by mobilising people to register as voters and encouraged them to vote and protect their vote. We have seen the new numbers of registered voters and those could be the game changers and going by apathy in registration and voting in PF strongholds, the PF could be headed for a very very surprising and heavy defeat!! Instead of mobilising voters, the PF leadership is always busy talking about winning elections and insulting the opposition on public speach- every one is party spokes persons! Who then mobilises voters so they can register to vote for them and win??
