Ruling PF Deputy General Secretary Mumbi Phiri has issued a stern warning to those pushing for renewed calls to have a convention to choose a candidate for the 2016 general elections.
Mrs Phiri said the party will deal ruthlessly with those that are behind so calls because President Edgar Lungu has a five year mandate which he was given at the last convention in Kabwe.
‘You know, in our Bemba language there is a saying that when greedy people sell fish, they don’t look beyond their noses, you know when President Sata died, some of us tried to talk to our fellow members led by Hon. Guy Scott who were calling for a convention at Mulungushi Conference Centre that let us go to the Central Committee which is the largest decision making body, they refused,’ Mrs Phiri said.
‘The Guy Scott group paid for the venue of the Convention which was in Kabwe and we went there and elected a President through a congress as by our constitution and President Edgar Lungu had a clear win and since he was elected by the congress, it means he has a five year mandate,’ she said.
She added, ‘Those who were not seeing beyond their noses didn’t realise that we had given President Edgar Lungu a five year mandate and what are they now talking about?
‘Let me warm them, we are not going to tolerate any useless means of trying to divide the party, what we went through last year when our President died was not easy and for me, i call it that it was God who was trying to cleanse the bad elements we had with bad intentions in our party,’ she said.
Mrs Phiri continued, ‘Let me tell them, we are not going to allow them and we know some of those people want to form a political party, me as a founder of the Patriotic Front we are here to defend our party and our constitution.
I say let all those seeking the highest position in Zambia go for a convention, not just PF.
Is this the lady who is ashamed that her children go by the surname of Phiri? Well she should as well be ashamed of her her part is infighting.
……and now voices of some decadent losers from the January 20th calculus will be chasing hot air in worse off state of weakness and irrelevance against a ruling party machinery with a incumbent party, and republican President in an African state where such utopia does not thrive. Take the medicine, because the academic call for a convention is classic case of “Dead on arrival (DOA) or Brought in Dead (BiD) if not subnormal political activism pretending ignorance that ECL has a mandate of leading the PF party upto 2021.
It will be practically hard to realize a scheme of reviving anarchy that would plunge Zambia into despondence.

LUNGU WILL INSTEAD OPT TO BE ADOPTED BY THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE AND THATS WHY HE IS LOADING THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE WITH HIS LOYALISTS. THERE IS NO WAY EDGAR CAN WIN AGAINST SAMPA. NO WAY NEVER. BE IT AS IT MAY SAMPA IS THE FUTURE OF PF. EDGAR LUNGU HAS SPENT ALL HIS GOODWILL. VIVA MILES SAMPA. LUNGU WILL IMPOSE HIS CANDIDACY BECAUSE HE HAS NO RESPECT FOR DEMOCRACY.
A convention for what when we have HH as presidential candidate come 2016 . those political parties that have money to throw around can go for conventions. Please no more Jokers we are suffering so much.

I cannot believe the ignorance being expressed by some bloggers. Have they forgotten that the PF had a convention less than a year ago? According to the PF constitution, Lungu was given a five year term of office as party President after being unanimously elected. Those calling for a convention have either not read the PF constitution or belong to the Guy Scott camp that organized a parallel but illegal convention that anointed Miles Sampa as party president. Have you wondered why Sampa has become so big headed. He basks in the illusion that he is the legitimate President of the PF!
Mumbi is wrong. What you had last year is an extraordinary convention. What Rachel Chileshe is calling for is an ordinary convention which according to your constitution is supposed to be held every fifth year. This body elects all central committee members (not only the president) to lead the party for a five year mandate. ECL doesn’t want this because he knows all his cronies will never be elected at a proper convention.
although i dont support Mumbi, i think on this one i behind her. when we said the way ECL was voted for at the convention, these same people who are today calling for a convention were busy defending the indefensible. now the chickens or ducks have come home to roost. please just because you’re denied a job doesnt mean you should call for a fresh convention. actually you never know, last time you voted using legs and hands, maybe now Kaizer will come with 200 guns to use when voting. kikikikikiki. Anyway,let lungu rules for the next 5Years.Sampa is our future PF leader.He is a gud organizer that ba Chakolwa ba mudala has failed. We’ll vote Lungu if the kwacha start appreciating otherwise people now are losing jobs.Shops are now closing at a fast rate.Things are expensive and inflation is high.I have never seen an inflation to double within 15 days only with the country facing sanctions or war.And the reason is that BOZ governor has failed the people of Zambia.Nevertheless coz of love of ba Sata, our plans is to make sure Sampa in 2021 takes the leadership of PF.We are telling him not to leave the party coz we love Sampa.We supported Lungu last year coz we thought he is humble unfortunately he doesn’t want to reconcile with others.The president has disappointed us.Lungu knows well…
