President Lungu must stop photocoying RB’s legacy because he may photocopy his downfall too

There is no amount of politics that can hide the fact that we are facing a serious economic debacle as a country. What makes it worse however, is how the head of state is responding to challenges we face as a country.

Firstly the president seems to have shut his ears to sound advice the way RB did and that cost him an election. It is evident from his appointments that the head of state is determined to push ahead with his wishes despite a divergent public perception. It is clear that many Zambians do not support the appointment of Dora Siliya and Bishop Chomba as Minister and permanent Secretary respectively,to the most sensitive ministry this year. But the head of state is determined to push foward anyway.

Secondly, the president seems to be more concerned about politics, than he is about development, he seems to be doing more party work than government work. The PF government seems to be in full throttle campaign mode at the expense of governments responsibility.

Further, the president seems to have sidelined original founder PF members, like Miles Sampa, who supposedly carried with them, the vision of the patriotic front and has chosen to surround himself with a lot of individuals Zambians have rejected. It is the same way RB chose to do away with Mwanawasa’s MMD, and he faced the consequences.

Today, every single person in Zambia is complaining about commodity prices, but the head of state hasn’t taken any decisive action or given a roadmap on how the government intends to arrest the situation. There are problems every where you look, but all we hear is politicking.

As a former Secretary General of the Copperbelt institutions team, it saddens me to note, what has become of a party we struggled so hard to put in power under the leadership of The late Michael Sata. We hope the head of state takes some time to listen to us the ordinary citizens, because we have suffered alot. He is doing the exact same things that cost RB an election, and if he does not change course, the same fate awaits him.

  1. @Niza Phiri, did RB have a bloated cabinet? I don’t even think there is photocopying here as things weren’t as bad then as they are now. You can’t compare the two. To start with their names are different, one is Bwezani and the other is Chagwa.

One is absolutely clueless and I won’t mention which of the two.

    • Imwe ba Niza.Sata was not the best thing that ever happened to Zambia. He was a divisive, vengeful and wasteful figure. He is the genesis of all the economic malaise Zambia is experiencing and Zambians would do well to get rid of his PF remnants.

    • President Lungu and his PF have completely killed the Kwacha which is now trading at above K14 (ZMK14, 000) to a dollar. Surely what is he doing in the position other than appointing people from morning to evening? Where the PF supporter to explain how this party is borrowing away the poverty from the country. recall the reality is yet to set in when the repayments installments starts to get due, starting next year. What a shame to have people who can destroy a country within a period of four years.

  2. If awisi Tasila was to photocopy RB’s tenure then Zambians would be much better off than they are now. How much was a bag of mealie meal and what was the value of the Kwacha when RB was President? Zambians are now suffering because they listened to Membe’s propaganda against RB. The same man who was calling RB corrupt whilst not paying taxes to ZRA and refusing to pay back the monies he dubiously obtained from DBZ.

  3. How can miles sampa be sidelined when he was ecl rival or competitor if you like. Those so called original pf played a wrong card and lost and people who made ecl win are not even true pf. On this one I support ecl because the same people who madehim win wwill do it again. Forget about the true pf for. They are but true pompwes who want to come and kolopa the entire coffers.

  4. I believe this President cannot take any decisive action regarding the running of the country and its economy because neither he nor his incompetent ministers have any idea of what it takes to do that. Economics is a very specialized field and what specialized economic advisers has Lungu appointed to strategic ministeries? The only thing that is important to this useless mob is to stay in power so that they can enjoy the benefits that go with being in government hence all the concentration on politics rather than national development. It is very sad to see our mothers smashing rocks on the roadside to earn money for food for the children while this President spends huge $’s to hire a plane. For a man who claims to be so humble, you should be ashamed of yourself.

    • I agree with you 100%.Egdar is clueless and too proud and pompous to ask for help. Simply the worst president we have had.

  5. This clueless clown cannot even operate a PHOTOCOPIER!

If he could, the Kwacha would be worth TWICE as much as it is worth now!

And we would have Zesco electricity! And the price of mealie meal would be K35 a bag. And and and…..

He is rushing around looking for the INSTRUCTION MANUAL for the photocopier because he has finally realised that being President is not just being a World Tourist with his friends while Zambias economy collapses.

He should have read the MANUAL before he started waving pangas around in Kabwe. Then he would have realised he does not have the required skills. And gone for help at Alcoholics Anonymous.

  6. I agree with Pretty, the author must realize that RB left a very resilient economy & the Kwacha was doing very well. Then came MC, with his crooked ways & re-based the currency. RB left some good money in Reserves & it was easy to plan your business activities as we knew the exchange rates where very stable. Some people, still thing EL can be changed into a good leader. That is a total fallacy & it will never happen in this lifetime.

  7. RB was better off because he rode on what Levy Patrick Mwanawasa had built on whilst ECL is worse off because he is riding on what Micheal Charles Katongo Mwango Chilufya Sata had destroyed. By the way its interesting to note that the RB and ECL have one or two but more things in common-the notable one is to fill in the void.

    • It was RB who stabilised the economy when there was a credit crunch in 2008. Even if he was building on what Mwanawasa started, he still left a vibrant economy when he left office 3 years later. Mwanawasa died in 2008 and the economy was still vibrant in 2011. In three years , PF have ruined the Zambian economy but that is what the Zambians wanted so let them enjoy. RB’s achievement are there for all to see.

  8. This time Zambian have been given another opportunity to vote properly. May God almighty guide the Zambian people to vote properly and ensure that credible leadership is ushered into office.

….Because PF is a failed project.
