Several activities have been lined up ahead of the celebration of the World AIDS day in Kawambwa district which falls on the 1st December.

This is according to a programme prepared by the district HIV/AIDS taskforce (DATF) and released to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Kawambwa today.

The programme indicates that the candle light vigil services will be conducted at Light House International church opposite the airstrip and at the united church of Zambia (UCZ) in Matelo of Chief Munkanta’s area.

According to the programme, those to attend the candle light vigil at Light House International church will have to match from the Public Square while those who will attend at the UCZ of Matelo will match from Saint St Mary’s junction road in the evening of the 30th November 2015
.
The programme states that the actual World AIDS day will be celebrated at the Public Square on the 1st December, 2015.

The programme also reveals that on the actual World AIDS commemoration, there will be a bicycle race, entertainment, drama, poems and traditional dances.

Others are traditional dances, testimonies from people living with HIV and a football match between the special forces of the 48 Marine soldiers of Kala base in the area and Kawambwa football rangers.

The theme for this year’s world AIDS day is ‘’Zambia’s future: Getting to New Zero HIV infection’’.

And District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa yesterday urged all heads of government departments to encourage their subordinates not to shun this year’s World AIDS day commemoration.
