Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a rag-tag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance
- Great visual effects and imagery
- The action scenes were done to perfection
- If you have never watched any of the previous Star Wars movies you will not know some of the characters and their significance to the plot , as they are not properly introduced to the audience .
- Not much back story was given about the “bad guys” , the First Order. Also the “good guys” ,the resistance , we were not told what they were fighting for .
Rey: There are stories about what happened.
Han Solo: It’s true. All of it. The Dark Side, the Jedi. They’re real.
Finn: We’ll figure it out, we’ll use the Force!
Han Solo: That’s not how the Force works!
There was massive hype surrounding the release of the latest installment in the Star Wars saga , The Force Awakens . Unfortunately , what seems to have been a trend this year , the movie did not live up to the hype . Don’t get me wrong , it was a very good movie , it just didn’t blow my mind as i thought it would .
The movie had a heavy reliance on nostalgia , such that if you have never watched any Star Wars movie you will be left in the dark about some of the characters and their relationships with each other and some major elements that pertain to the plot . That was my main gripe with the movie .
What i did like about the movie was the new characters , Daisy Ridley( Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) the former Storm Trooper . John Boyega , in particular, had a great performance ,perfectly delivering a wide range of emotions . The action scenes were splendid, especially the fight scenes with the light-sabers . Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) put up an excellent performance as the the primary antagonist.
