Mwata Kazembe tips clubs on talent identification

Share

Paramount Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Luapula is urging FAZ Super Division clubs to start visiting rural districts with the aim of tapping talent.

The Mwata noted that big clubs such as Mufulira Wanderers and Nkana are no longer trekking to rural areas to poach players.

The traditional leader said rural areas have talented players who can compete favourably in the topflight league.

“Teams like Mufulira Wanderer that used to visit Luapula to get players are no longer coming like they used to do in the past. We are asking Mufulira Wanderers, Nkana, Power Dynamos and Zanaco to come here and get players,” the Mwata said.

“There is talent here and these teams must come to get young players and take them to the towns, “he told Radio Icengelo News in Mwansabombwe.

He said teams must learn to groom their own players as opposed to buying established players.

“Clubs must have necessaries as opposed to poaching players from each other. Today you see a good player at Nkana tomorrow Kabwe Warriors comes to get him. That’s not good football.”

    • @Lucy,
Don’t ever never insult our Luapula chiefs, we don’t behave like other provinces. Even where you are we can bewitch you with stroke in an instant!

  1. @ Lucy, MyZambia and Muteteka Chapi, Mwata Kazembe’s title is Mwata and no other title but Mwata as Mwata has no synonym in the vernacular it was originated it simply is Mwata! Ask the Mwata’s council of elders or whatever they are called if the title Mwata can be substituted with another prefix other than Mwata! Why always dance to colonial mentality trying to put titles to traditions that never existed! So when visited by or visiting with non-Zambians references to our traditional rulers no matter what language is being used when one gets to referencing these royals their prefixes rule. Thus the Chitimukulu is Chitimukulu, the Litunga is Litunga and so as the others as titled by fore fathers! Where did the sub-chief, senior chief and, paramount chief come from? In whose interests?…

  2. contd…. Therefore…..niba Mwata Kazembe, ki bo Chitimukulu, c’est Litunga, this is Chitimukulu, mbaba Mwata, others….. mbaba Mwami not Senior Chief so and so or Junior Chief……..it reduces sweat!

  3. “There is talent here and these teams must come to get young players and take them to the towns, “he told Radio Icengelo News in Mwansabombwe.”
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH WHAT MWATA HAS SAID BUT THE ABOVE. INSTEAD OF TAKING THEM TO TOWN, OR DOES HE MEAN TO THE CITIES? THE MWATA SHOULD ADVOCATE FOR THE BIG LEAGUE TEAMS TO DECENTRALISE INTO RURAL AREAS WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY FIGHTING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF MODERN STADIA IN RURAL AREAS AS THE IDEA WOULD STIMULATE THE YOUTH. AND THE NATIONAL TEAM WOULD HAVE A BROAD BASE WHERE TO PICK AND CONSTRUCT THE NATIONAL TEAM FROM.
