United Party for National Development President Hakainde Hichilema has told hundreds of Choma residents who gathered at Choma Sports Club that the UPND’s target is to eradicate poverty.

Mr Hichilema says it is unfortunate that the PF is directing Zambia Police to harass innocent individuals who want to listen to messages of how together we can build a better Zambia.

In reference to the brutal beatings and shootings by the Police on Choma residents who had gathered to receive him and his team, Hichilema said that only a party that is losing elections would resort to instilling fear in the people.

Meanwhile, the UPND President has called on the people of Choma and across the country to remain peaceful despite the economic challenges they were going through.

Meanwhile, UPND Vice-President for Administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says it is clear that only a President like Hakainde Hichilema would save Zambia’s economy.

And his counterpart, Dr Canisius Banda adds that Zambia is a unitary State and that people must reject PF as it is perpetuating divisions.

The UPND President and his team have since left for Lusaka, after meeting it’s supporters and aspiring candidates in Southern Province.

The UPND leadership was in Choma as part of the countrywide party mobilisation meetings aimed at harmonising aspirants and insuring unity and peaceful elections ahead of 2016.

  1. Viva UPND, these are the solutions we want, as a farmer we can trust you because you have made it. We cant trust Lungu, he keeps changing statements day in day out.

  2. Benefited from privatisation….
Its a pity Zambians are short sighted and easily forget. If it was in America people can’t vote for hh .
You sell companies with Chiluba at a song and today you stand and says ours is to reduce poverty when you are the same person that was doing sale sale …Shame

    • JUST SAY U CANT VOTE FOR HIM. DO SPEAK FOR OTHERS. EVERY ZAMBIAN WILL BE GIVEN CHANCE TO CAST A VOTE. HH WAS CHAIR WHO RECIEVED TOR FROM THE THEN GOVT TO PRESIDE OVER DISPOSING DEFUNCT PARASTATALS.

    • Sorry boss, those are mere unsubstantiated allegations. You really think this vindictive government that could summon VJ on Bowman Lusambo’s insinuations would have left any stone unturned in bringing HH to book at the hint of any act of criminal nature or innuendo? For your own information, I also benefited! I was sold my current house cheaply by FTJ.

    • I pity u sir. You are too ignorant to know what is beyond ur nose. Hh was just there to advise. He wasn’t in government but ur late sata and chiluba sold out then today you say he privatised! !!! What kind of thinking is this. That’s why you are poor

    • @Gees
For your information, you and your type , can say anything against HH now upto 10,07,this year but most of us have decided we TRY SOMEONE NEW ALL TOGETHER. YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE!

    • They thought the way you are thinking but they realized it was a mistake and now they have changed their minds. Only blind ones will continue with their minds on privatization issue. That was a complex program which was done by the government and HH as the consultant in evaluations with proceeds going to the government. You always say i cant get paid a commission, but HH was paid the same commission and today you say he sold your companies, please wake up!!!

  3. Ba Gees, if HH had a carse to answer sata investigated but found him clean, a consultant is not a seller say things you know!!!!
That is the president with a vision. Viva UPND

    • I appreciate your reasoning. A chairperson is given Terms of Reference(ToR) to execute, who was H H to privatize govt assets, if he had a curse to answer ,this country has a judicial process, why talk about things people do not even understand. We need people who think positively. how can a person collapse the economy in full view of able people ……………….we need change for better.

  4. My Bro the observer let’s keep educating these chaps. Iskull very important. There are a lot of Jim n jacks that keep pouring their ignorance here instead of educating people.

  5. …….can someone explain why he all of a sudden become stinking rich after few months of privatisation? This even shocked sata during presidential assets declarations in 2006. The only reason he has not been persued is corruption because big boys in the nation benefited too. To single out HH and leave others would be unfair. The only way to deal with hh is simply deny him state house but allow him to be featured as presidential candidate so that he gives back what he store from the zambians.

    • Why not arrest all the so called “big boys”. You another example of numbskull individual. Too much ignorance from people who claim to be educated.

  6. Why is it difficult for HH to condemn violence? He is practically encouraging his supporter to be riotous by blaming the police. What UNPD should know is that it takes two to tangle and the police could not have used teargas from without. HH don’t think you will lose votes by condemning the people that are causing trouble.

    • Why don’t you ask the same question to ECL with all heinous violent acts of PF carders all over this county eg in Sinda, Ndola Airport, Kitwe, Lusaka, Sesheke shooting etc

  7. ka lucy just go to the kitchen where you belong , who are u to talk when men are talking issues

    • @Unhappy @lucy is just a grade above yours and that why you can not intellectually engage with her, not the nonsense you are uttering.

    • @Unhappy People Never Develop, you have picked a very good pseudonym that accurately reflects in your posting. Enough said.

    • @Unhappy go back to your cave this isn’t the stone age. I hope you don’t tell your mama the sane whenever she speaks. It’s primates like you who give us real men a bad name . Do you have size issues for you to bully a lady. I pity your wife. Smh

  8. @Marc ulichipuba you be reading “the UPND President has called on the people of Choma and across the country to remain peaceful despite the economic challenges they were going through”.

    • Ba Mpande or whatever your real name is, you are quite provocative. You are insulting when your friends are talking sense. Typical of the UPND nganakuponona ati ba PF balubuli.

  9. @mpande even you are stupid did ichilema condemn the violence?no but he told them to remain peaceful & blamed the police as usual

  10. Get real in your urguments…HH was in his early 30’s when privatisation took place and he was an employee then, one of the many employees. How could he have single handedly ‘privatised’ Zambia’s assets and pocket the proceeds?

It doesn’t help talking about issues that are non-issues. Rather learn from HH how he grew his business empire instead of cheap talk. Aim high in your lives

    • Mr. Fly – Just a question – Is it true that one of HH’s house was a Lima Bank house? Or, that he sits on the Boards of companies he helped privatize? Ever heard of Conflict of Interest?

    • @observer,
do not bather arguing or better still educate these upnd guys.
just read through all the postings on LT and you will see that they all come from three or four people using different pseudos so as to look like they are many and popular.
lets just wait for 11 august and then we will see who will cry again.
mind you, this time around, all the registered voters will vote unlike the last elections.

  11. THE STRONG WIND OF CHANGE IS SWEEPING ACROSS ZAMBIA> CHANGE IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE THIRSTY FOR> POLICE BRUTALITY WILL NOT ALTER THE RESOLVE! LUNGU AND HIS MINIONS, THE LOOTERS OF OUR WEALTH HAVE TO BE EJECTED FROM THE SYSTEM. AUGUST 11 WE ARE VOTING FOR HH AND UPND. THE HH TEAM IS READY TO STIMULATE DEVELOPMENT IN OUR COUNTRY. THEY ARE READY TO REFORM OUR NATION TO A BETTER AND PROSPEROUS NATION. LET ALL ZAMBIANS JOIN HANDS AND VOTE FOR CHANGE. REMOVE THE THIEVES FROM POWER.

  12. sold our companies and came out clean. His party is violend but always comes out smart. Managed to to keep two pipo when he will only pick one or even dump both of them. Thank God his tricks will not make him president becoz voters know the meaning of his plastick smiles

  13. Observer@ we use circumstancial evdence to accuse your god that he stole our money after selling our companies. Elyo stealing is not about being cot or not.

    • Why hasn’t the Anti-Corruption Commission taken-up the matter to prosecute him if indeed your allegation has any basis to it?

    • Considering the prosecutions against Chiluba and his gang of thugs in recent history, and those more recently against Rupiah Banda, both Chiluba and Banda having had already gained eminence by the time their prosecutions started, do you mean to imply that the ACC are scared of HH or what?

    • I remember a certain president investigated and cane up with legitimate bank statements on TV. The same was number 3 in power when the same parastatals. Barking up the wrong tree buddy. Ps I haven’t mentioned names

  14. most of tu ma upnd bloggers are naive i was just playing on your minds what i told ka lucy is what your hh told nawakwi so thank you for the description you have given me which also suits hh’s thinking about women

  15. Zambians are dull, look at your comments against HH, silly people invade the air port and no tear gas is fired and it is OK, the cost of living is high and all we can do is wait for the world economy to improve and hold national days of prayer and its OK this government has been in power for 5 years and things do not look promising and its OK, the country’s debt is going up and it is OK they are doing a good job. All that someone can say is that HH can not be president because of how he smiles, what a joke. Sata was in government when companies were sold. He was part of the decision makers HH was a consultant. Do thinkas an opposition leader the government would have left him for any under hand dealings he had. Any way some comments here are just made to provoke and make others upset…

  16. Observer, you are right HH could be sitting on boards of companies his former employers evaluated and privatised. That doesn’t cause any conflict of interest. He was an employee then, not a partner.

It is ironic to think of a 32 year old graduate employee, employed to evaluate an entity for his employers and later accuse him of collusion. There were auditors, government technocrats and boards that approved these transactions. It would be helpful if people familiarised themselves how liquidation works. Its NEVER a one man show, never. These things are bound to happen again.

    Thanks Observer.

  17. Circumstancial evidence should lead to prosecution there after, but of the sirt happened. Conflict of interest also does not apply because it is stock option that plays a part in this kind of situation, that is why and how he was able to buy a house originally owned by Lima Bank. Sata was a beneficiary also as he bought three houses in Avondale through privatisation.
But how big and influential was this young Zambian man to have pushed around the likes of chiluba and stubborn sata to do give him all the money from privatisation. Landeni ko fimbi not this issue it will improve your everyday dwindling support.
