UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says his party will not fold its arms and watch the PF continue attacking them with impunity.

Mr Mweetwa lamented that the violence being perpetrated by the PF was unprecedented and that the opposition will no longer wait for protection from the enforcers of the law because they have the right to defend themselves.

He said while PF are going about breaking the law with impunity other political parties are being told to go and negotiate with the police command to enjoy their rights and freedoms.

“No body must expect us to remain law abiding when those who are suppose to mirror the face of democracy in the ruling party are breaking the law with impunity. When you have a ruling party that can send trucks and trucks to go and beat Miles Sampa, when you have a ruling party sending trucks and trucks of its cadres to go and demolish the UPND Secretariat in Kitwe, the law is only applied when it cadres from the opposition who are in action.

“The people who are supposed to show what democracy is all about, who must show by example are those in the government the same people acting with impunity and you live them and only talk about the rule of law when it is UPND cadres involved. We are not going to be idle and continue to be saying no let’s talk about peace,” he said.

He said people should not hid in the cacoon of being a peaceful nation when it is the people who are supposed to be protecting the peace who are sending their cadres to beat up the opposition.

He said time has come for the opposition to defend their rights because under PF it is not the law that dictates your enjoyment of your rights but the people in government.

He said when people are oppressed they always find a way of circumventing the oppressors hence the need for those who are charged with the responsibilities to maintain law and order must apply the law fairly so as to maintain the peace of the nation.

  1. Tone down starting a civil was is very easy but stopping it is very hard. The only solution is for the people to vote out EL and PF for i am 101% sure that PF will die when they lose the coming elections for EL has no leadership qualities or looks or organisation skills to keep a party running, That is why i think people should give credit to HH for being in opposition for such a long time and yet he still manages to keep the party together for it is not easy being in opposition in African politics. Look at MMD, Just a year out of power and they are no more.
So fellow country men and women let us vote wisely and get rid of EL and his thugs.

    • Quite true. PF strategy is to allow violence to be widespread so that they can call off the august election citing high levels of violence in order to buy some time before they go to prison for corruption.

    • …..iwe Cornelius, both PF and UPND are violent parties and there’s need for both parties to sit down their cadres and bring an end to this violence before it gets out of hand.

    • Indeed PF wouldn’t last six months in opposition under Chagwa, I think not even a month, he is simply clueless in man management, just look at how he has let Kabwili get away with wild pronouncements! HH is a great leader otherwise had Sakwiba taken over after the demise of Mazoka, UPND would have been no more by today….he would have long auctioned it to the party in power, truly. Give credit to HH, not only has he seen the party survive endless attacks from fellow politicians and the media, his personal business has too remained afloat which is a helll of a job knowing African politics. Zambians, give a chance to this great son of the land, vote UPND!! It’s this year or never, otherwise this nation will never recover economically should the chipatepate PF get another madete!

    • It doesnt matter what comes out of these nonenties.

Here is the thjing- All this pipe dreams will end in tears.

HH and PF- will be disaapointed, they wont know what hit them.

      The Orange Alliance is REAL.
IN M Sampa, they have a tenacity Gentleman who will not stop until he sees change before hsi eyes.

Miles has appeal of Obama, intelligence of Abraham Lincoln, Longevity of Kaunda and respect of mandela.

Do you want more jobs?, Mor money in your pockets, run Comapanies, not be bullied in your own countries? – well what are you waiting for?

      Vote Orange Alliance

      Thanks
      BB2014

    • YES, IF WORSE GOES TO WORST, THEN WHY NOT? QUIETNESS DOES NOT MEAN FOOLISHNESS. PF HAS TREATED US LIKE CRIMINALS IN OUR OWN LAND, YET IT IS THEM WHO ARE THE UNWANTED CRIMINALS. WE CHERISH THE PEACE THAT OUR FATHERS FOUGHT FOR IN OUR COUNTRY, BUT DON’T TAKE THE PEACEFUL ZAMBIANS TO MEAN FOOLISHNESS. PF IS A PARTY FOR CRIMINALS, PEOPLE WHO ARE PLANING EVIL DAY AND NIGHT.LET US ALL JOIN HANDS AND REMOVE THESE BANDITS FROM POWER ON AUGUST 11. VIVA UPND VIVA. VIVA HH VIVA.

    • @snake bite
Walasa! Very competent comment there. I only wish most (or just half) of the comments on this site were well thought out.

    • in the history of this nation, its only UPND which has been known as a violent party in opposition. Mapatizya, Mufumbwe and Choma violence. What more violence shall we experience once you given an opportunity to govern???

    • iwe ka mweetwa mwaice wandi.
this is the exact comment or threat you made to mmd when your upnd was in alliance with the pf.
infact just before the “mapatizya formula”.
you think we have short memories like you and yours….
do not, i repeat, do not start a war you cannot finish….
do not say you were not warned.

    • Don’t be scared! Hit passion with passion, is the only solution. Elections, how do you know they will be free and fair, not like the January by-election when they were announcing results before other constituencies voted?

    • All will be well when UPND start protecting itself against the PF police and PF cadres. Those talking about a civil war because UPND wants to protect itself are naive and know thing about Zambian politics.

Under UNIP we had vigilantees who terrorised people with KK s blessing . But when people rose up against the regime all vigilantees melted away and hid in their holes. Did we have a civil war ? No.

If rule of law is NOT fairly applied by government then rule of the jungle takes over automatically. No one needs to tell the people that enogh is enough and they should react. PF is lucky because Mweetwa has warned it.

Now we are waiting for campaign periods to start officially then we will defy the PF police .

If the yellow alliance want to have a chance of forming a…

    • That tribal nonsense is now water under the bridge. tonga or whatever, Uyo wine ewo tulefwaya!! What makes Nawakwi better? Her tribe? HH2016!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Never again will i vote for a Government of Mmembe for Mmembe and by Mmembe. UPND will never rule Zambia. It is even worse that HH has partnered with the Cartel. Continue Dreaming. Come August 11 2016, ECL will still be in State House.

    • ninshi imwe ba pushi ifintu nafimiwamina na PF. Uko bonse tuli mubwafya no buteko bu, cilemoneka mulesekelamo. Bamambala kuya bebele, teti mule cita ifyo mulefwaya ukulenga abantu ukucula. Ifintu tafili bwino bane!

    • 1. Your child, cousin, sister, nephew is not been paid meal allowance and brutalized by police at UNZA or CBU
      2. You can’t shower in the morning because of load shedding
      3. Your uncle has been laid of the job because production at a farm has reduced cos of power cuts
      4. Inflation is at 21.8%
And you continue …infintu ni Lungu….how will the country develop with such mediocrity??

    • Chalo ni bantu, you Bemba is outrageous. Please don’t bastardise my language in the hope of portraying yourself as a Bemba. A real umuBemba would never write like this and I quote, ” Uko bonse tuli mubwafya no buteko bu, cilemoneka mulesekelamo”. The correct statement muchi Bemba would be, ‘Apo bonse tuli mubwafya nobu buteko, chilemoneka imwe namusekelamo”.
Stop using colloquial Bemba in the hope of convincing Bembas that other Bembas are in UPND. We the Bemba are extremely scared of the plans by the Tonga UPND to come and make sure we are suppressed and never get close to the corridors of power again as suggested by most UPND supporters. We have great fear that this lovely, peaceful and united country will be torn apart by politics of vengence under UPND. So, the coming elections…

    • Hahaha, please can you convince me and other miliion of voters why we should vote pf back?
Our Children were first starved then beaten and now sent back home. Some were about to graduate.
Stop yapping like umuntu ukwete ingulu.
If your pf was caring ,they should have paid the students allowances.
LIKE IT OR NOT pf KUYA BEBELE

  3. THAT TIME WE HAD OF ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION AND THAT LEADER IS KENNETH KAUNDA WAMUYAYA WAMUYAYA. WE WERE UNDER DICTATORSHIP AND THIS IS WHAT PF IS FORGETTING NO SAY NO NGWI DURING THAT TIME. TODAY IF I AM UNDER ATTACK, I WILL REACT WITH THE PROTECTION OF MANY AND THAT IS WHY YOU SEE PEOPLE REACTION ON POLICE FORCE THEY CALL PF. LET THIS POOR FAMILY POOR FARMERS CONTINUE SABOTAGING US WHILE WE ARE SEEING THEIR VIOLENCE.
WHAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN IS THAT POLICE ARE OUR RELATIVES AND THEY CAN NEVER FIGHT US WHEN WERE REACT

  4. Both you and the PF will end up at the Hague/ICC. You have been advised to use non violent Martin Luther King Advocacy and pressure but it looks like you want to fall into the trap of violence.

  5. PF WILL IS THE WORST IN LEADERSHIP. DID YOU KNOW THAT COME THE CLOSE OF PARLIAMENT THEY WILL KILLING EACH OTHER? MMD CAREFUL AND IF YOU GUYS WANT TO SURVIVE JOIN THE WINNING PARTIES BECAUSE NO ONE IS FIT IN PF TO BE EITHER RUNNING MATE OR PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL IN PF. WE HAVE GREAT MEN IN MMD AND A FEW IN PF WHO ARE SILENT AND ARE WAITING TO COME OUT AFTER THEY TAKE UP THEIR GRATUITIES.

  6. Elders (bloggers) of our land, something urgent must be done to this government before we leave to regret. The gods and our ancestral spirits are very annoyed with this government and its blind supporters. A hunter who has only one arrow does not shoot with careless aim. we only have one arrow on 11 August, 2016…..

  7. The panga family (PF) & their police force (PF) have set the dynamite in place, just waiting for the slightest spark & it will be boom boom.
Why is Kadansa so hell bent on destroying this country? Anything to do with his Malawian roots? Just wondering.

  8. UPND is just as violent. So the leadership of both parties should make every effort to stop their cadres from being violent.

  9. PF leadership always show a FIST as sign for “Amaka”. Is it amaka to fight others or amaka to develop the economy of Zambia? Just wondering.
We serious need a Professional non-partisan Police Service to maintain law and order in the country. If the Police are allowing some cadres to commit violence with impunity, and arresting others on even smaller charges, we are sitting on a time bomb. There are already signs of people fighting our men in uniform, it might get worse as we approach elections.

    • @Kuzanga

The PF symbol & PF name are not even originally theirs. There is nothing Sata did that was originally his. Everything to him was copycutting. He would just use others’ ideas & initiatives to project himself as “Man Of Action”. That’s why Kaunda & Chiluba were right to state he was not Presidential material. His little achievements in roadworks u saw were mere copycuts from MMD. Sincerely RB had set the speed pace of road construction but time was not on his side. Sata just continued & fortunately found $750m Eurobond already negotiated by RB. Anyone cud hav built roads with such money.

PF – copied from ZANU_PF & RPF (Rwanda Patriotic Front)
Symbol – copied from ZANU_PF & esp ANC (remember Mandela coming out of Prison walking hand in hand with Winnie with raised fist)…

    • Sata was just saved by death otherwise even the economic problems ECL has wud also hav been there had he not died. He hid under the leadership of Kaunda & Chiluba to project himself as a performer. Yet when given the mantle he led the country on poverty gauntlet which unfortunately ECL inherited only that ECL can’t state it till he wins his second if at all he can!

    • The fist is an internationally /PanAfricanist symbol for black power. Not necessarily for violence or by violence.

    • The Punching Fist (PF) is not only Pan-Africanist but even the Black Panther movement in USA (remember Mike Tabor?) had the same fist as a visual symbol. Unfortunately PF uses it as a symbol of intimidation and not for struggle against domination.

  10. How can you have a president who condemns violence selectively. This man really annoys. Anyway MMD formula is back. How do you expect a party that invites Bowan Lusambo to win elections? Is this really a party you can trust?

  11. PF must go, UPND supporters just unit on 11 August to go in numbers and shoot your arrows at PatheticFailers, no holding back it Forward zambia UPND

  12. If the police acted professionally the violence that we see in the political arena wouldn’t be there. The buck starts and ends with the police.it is their duty to defend those who live, eat, talk and walk politics and us the outside the ring spectators. To me the ?anganja team should work professionally and desperate lamentations such as these coming from the Mr Mweetwa and many others will will not hit our ears.

  13. its not being peaceful to let someone walk all over you its stupidity. so fighting for your right is a solution when necessary like now

    • That’s just primitive. We are talking about a Democracy and the rights of people via the ballot box. Not declaring war!

  14. There goes the non violent communiques that was issued by the opposition. Just like the social contract its all useless

  15. As for me and my household, we will vote for the tonga man. Things are really bad in this country. Its only a full who cant see.

  16. Calling for anarchy is the greatest blunder any leader can make. Urge your supporters to arm themselves with votes but do not call for massacre and bloodshed, unless you want to join Cote’ d ivoire’s Gbagbo in the ICC, Hague. Let us first weigh the impact of our utterances before subjecting the country into irreparable damages. The public, being victims of circumstances, are the greatest losers,

  17. HH told everyone he was a winner – just like some sports stars do before a big match. So how do braggadocios winners deal with losing?

  18. The most obvious recent example is mixed martial arts star Ronda Rousey, who openly insulted her underdog opponent Holly Holm ahead of their championship match-up.

“That fake sweet act, I see right through it,” Rousey told Holm after a near-scuffle at their weigh-in. “I’m going to show you on Sunday why I’m the champ.”

But Holm humiliated Rousey out with a knock-out kick to the head, and it seemed the whole of the sports world wanted to toast Rousey’s downfall, even in our political setup let us be carefull do not say you are popular

  19. What are these all these allegations of violence about? Your statement that you will not sit with crossed arms as the gov’t attack you is worrying. Clearly the gov’t is in power, it’s the gov’t NOT PF, and they have the authority to defuse violence and troublemakers.

UPND seems to be leaning to violence instead of the ballot box. You provoke time and again. You can’t rule Zambia through violence.

  20. How can you fold arms when you have none. At least now the UPND are sobering up and seem to know that the unwarranted insults at the Republican President are not the answer to the so called economic problems the country experiencing. Disagreement is one of the cornerstones of our Young democracy, but petty name calling only reflects a lack of class and intellect.
There are still a few bloggers who think are elevated when they hail the worst insults like was done by self proclaimed messiah in the editorial comment of The Post October 8, 2015. You can see the bitterness in this article. Now the same writer” forced” an apology from the UPND leadership so he can only write good things only on them as if they were perfect through and through.

  21. Any decent parent wil get up and say to his fighting kids look, next time I hear there’s a fight in my house I will thump the culprits to pulp! Trust me that would be end of story.

Now in above statement replace parent with president. Kids with parties. House with country.

You will realize that the problem is we have no decent what?

    Thank you!

  22. When Upnd can not fight, they always cry being victims. Go to Mazabuka and suddenly a ‘docile’ Mweetwa spring into action and is the one chasing PF supporters with bricks.

  23. PF and UPND are birds of the same feather. When it comes to violence, they both speak the same language. It’s in their DNA.

  24. The picture tells the whole story. One is a beast the other is a human being. If you havent looked at the photo please look again and you will see what i mean.

  25. Ulya Palya Ngu Devil Upnx I Cant And I Will Never Vote For This Ruthless Hon Hyna Reason The Way They Treated Sata Till Death Very Very Inhuman No Wonder Yo Area Has No Rains. Wait More Panishment Is Waiting For U.
U Will Soon Know Jesus As Yo Saviour. No Blood Hands Shud Touch Zed In Jesus’name.

  26. Iwe Mweetwa tonga man keep quiet!!its your tonga party UPND which is very violent and tribal!!YOU WILL NEVER GET OUR VOTES!!WE SHALL USE NEGA NEGA FORMULA IN FAVOUR OF PF ON 11/08/2016!! GO PF GO!!

  27. PF was not violent in opposition it has just been infiltrated by violent ex MMD cadres and they are the ones making trouble, true PF cadres are not violent, but UPND has a history of Violence like in Mapatizya and Mufumbwe. They always used to fight with MMD now they have taken their fights to PF so who can mweetwa dupe on violence.

  28. Ala mwebantu ifintu ni HH pantu abena chipata nabafilwa , RB alifililwe pakonka ba lungu natwesheko abatonga kuti mwalalilako mabisi nga fyashupa

  29. Now we see where HH apology to Mmembe came from. Last week Mmembe issued an editorial proposing exactly the same thing that Mweetwa is saying. Mmembe proposed that the opposition must embrace violence as a way to counter PF perceived violence. Obviously violence must be natural to UPND otherwise one cannot understand how they could immediately respond to !membe and not even disguised at all. Sorry guys Zambia is a peaceful country and you will not get a single vote outside southern if you go to bed with Mmembe. Wait August 11 and see.
