Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema says a lot of serving PF and MMD Members of Parliament will join the opposition UPND when parliament is dissolved.

The UPND Leader boasts that a lot of serving PF and MMD MPs have seen that the UPND is the only progressive party in the country.

Mr. Hichilema boasts that a lot of them are just waiting to get their gratuity and that when parliament is dissolved; there is no doubt that they will join him.

Meanwhile, the UPND Leader has called on president Lungu to emulate late Republican President Levy Mwanawasa who never tolerated violence in the country.

He says when Dr. Mwanawasa came into office he found violence but that he managed to stamp it out.

And Former Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati says Zambia’s economy has continued to limp because of lack of implementation skills on the part of government.

Mr. Mutati says if the country is to make head ways in economic recovery, government should improve its implementation skills.

Mr. Mutati says a few days ago the World Bank announced that it will provide about US$600 million to support the agriculture sector but wonders if this will successfully be implemented because of the history the nation has.

He has encouraged the government to ensure that they break all barriers that prevent it from effectively implement programs that are aimed at transforming the nation

  1. HH has my observation. The UPND will receive a large number of defectors from both the PF and MMD after dissolution of parliament. The biggest fish to be caught in HH’s net will be Nevers Mumba himself!

    • That’s not good news for upnd. Who is interested in bringing back mmd and Pf plunderers. We are talking of progressive politics here not recycled thieves.

    • That will be catastrophe for UPND, all those PF thugs should go to Rainbow party. MMD thieves should regroup with RB.

    • The UPND will lose the August 11 polls to the PF. In a general election, there are many factors at play.

    • HH if these Defectors are only for crowd pulling and votes? never put them in power because we will be back square 1. enough nonsense, we want a true working government that can kill corruption with a vision to move Zambia forward. these MMD and PF thugs should not be allowed to enter UPND.

    • No need to worry. HH will be at the helm and in charge and I can tell you from the onset that it is a no stealing era coming but only efficiency and real development (not the so called unprecedented development which is full of corruption and inefficiencies).

    • Zambia’s problems are problems of poor and therefore corrupt leaders like….. Most politicians are corrupt where the leader is corrupt and the converse is true that most politicians are not corrupt where there is a non corruptible leader.

    • NO SITTING MP FROM PF WILL JOIN HH, MAY BE MMD MPS LIKE MUTATI, CHITUWO, MUSONKTWANE, AND OTHERS WILL JOIN UPND. STILL THEY WILL LOSE THE COMING ELECTIONS.

    • Believe it or not, the true story is weather those MPs treak to the UPND or not, PF is coming back in power with new MPs for Lusaka Central, Chongwe, Mpongwe, Changa, Matero, Kasama, Choma.

Watch the space and you will agree with me.

  2. In your dreams you think that will happen. HH should concentrate on mobilising new members and not banking on recycled political prostitutes who move from one party to the other, otherwise HH will now cry the loudest after his defeat after 11 August.

    • DONT FORGET ITS THE ISSUE OF NUMBERS THE UPND IS LOOKING FOR, MOREOVER HOW DID MWANAWASA MANAGE TO STAMP OUT CORRUPTION. LEADERSHIP MUST INSTILL FEAR IN THESE MPS TO SHUN CORRUPTION. IT DOES NOT MEAN PF AND MMD MPS CANNOT SHUN CORRUPTION, HOWEVER, THIS CURRENT LEADERSHIP IN PF LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED AND ANY MP CAN BECOME CORRUPT.

    • Looks like there is no hope for Zambia if the same corrupt and unprincipled people are allowed to jump from party tom party for their survival. Clearly they are in politics for their own stomachs only. The Zambian political culture of rewarding turncoats with government positions is doing a lot of harm to the country. Most of these people are metally stale. What new ideas can people like Siliya, Chikwanda, Masebo, Munkombwe, Namulambe, Lupando bring to the table? Zero. There is no hope for Zambia if the next government will be made up of recycled career politicians.

  3. GOD HAS WITHDRAWN THE LITTLE WISDOM THAT LUNGU HAS. LUNGU IS DRUNK WITH POWER. LUNGU THINKS USING THE POLICE TO BRUTALIZE THE CITIZENS OF OUR COUNTRY IS A SOLUTION TO SOLVE THE DISCONTENTMENT THAT ZAMBIANS HAVE IN THE WAY PF GOVERNMENT IS MANAGING THE AFFAIRS OF OUR COUNTRY. LUNGU WANTED UNZA AND CBU TO CLOSE BECAUSE HE DELIBERATELY DECIDED NOT TO HONOR HIS OBLIGATION AS STATE PRESIDENT TO PAY ALL THE OUT-STANDING DUES FOR STUDENTS AND LECTURERS IN ORDER TO ENSURE THERE IS PEACE AT THESE STATE INSTITUTIONS, ESPECIALLY SO THAT THIS YEAR IS ELECTION YEAR. ALREADY LUNGU HAS LOST THOUSANDS OF VOTES FROM ZAMBIANS THRU HIS F.0.0.LI.SH ACT OF BRUTALIZING OUR CHILDREN AND CLOSING THE SCHOOLS. ALL WELL MEANING ZAMBIANS SHOULD LEAVE PF AND JOIN UPND SO THAT WE TOGETHER EMANCIPATE OURSELVES FROM…

    • And you call this man presidential material? I don’t know what you people see in HH. Very childish way of doing politics. EL may have made his own mistakes but HH is not the answer for our country. the man does not seem to understand governance,he is only preoccupied with getting to state house. EL is likely to win the forth coming elections not because he is the best, but because UPND does not want to stop selling a wrong product. Do not get me wrong, UPND is a good party with brilliant minds that are willing to make a difference in out country. The only obstacle is HH.

  4. They will equally leave UPND when they are not appointed as ministers like the Sichingas to rejoin their former parties. These are men of no principles with GBM being the only exception because he has his own money.

  5. if i were HH, i would not hunt for anyone but nawakwi. wherever nawakwi will go, thats where the zambians will go. Nevers Mumba is not a big factor as Nawakwi. if HH can have Nawakwi as a running mate and sign an MOU that she will run as president next that will be very cool. i know that EL wants all the MMD members from eastern as a cushion for the uncertainty on CB. he doesnt need Nevers Mumba per se. but the one individual that you need on your team is certainly Nawakwi. she will be the king maker in this election.

    • Don’t underestimate Nevers. Nevers is the party that has disadvantaged him. Otherwise, you cannot compare Nevers to Nawakwi. Nawakwi has not fought any battle that Nevers has fought and survived/won.

    • Even HH will need a vibrant opposition for good governance. Edith will provide that after august. Those who are following her should prepare for being in opposition for the next 10 years.

  6. Then UPND should stop calling other people names. Why then must we vote for UPND if crooks, thieves, and conmen are all landing in their party? will zambia be different by only changing the president and maintain all PF and MMD ministers? I feel ashamed to even have thought that HH was the right man for Zambia. Surely how can one be proud of a PF and MMD rebirth in his so called principled party? Me shocked!

    • @Shooters why then do you want to vote for Lungu and Pf if they are corrupt? They only become corrupt and useless when they join UPND.Many Mps followed Sata in 2011 this was a sign that Sata was winning.IKUSUNGA MBWA MAANO.Lugu is a bad leader that’s why people are leaving him.

    • @ Shimaini you and I remember very well that UPND had what they termed SHADOW CABINET. That gave us a platform to think of an alternative govt in upnd. where is it now? Political parties are formed on idiologies and voters must be convinced on them. Do you think somebody who was in Unip then MMD and PF will bring something new to UPND? NO is the answer. If they followed Sata because he was winning they are foolish and if they are following HH because they think he is winning they are foolish again period.

Most UPND MPs have never been ministers, why cant they be tried as well? Honestly, UPND will miss a chance to bring sanity to governance if they bring back MMD and PF ministers.

Im not a cadre and will never be. I try anlyze things as they ought to be. I did not say i will vote…

  7. The same MMD MPs who spported HH in the last election wil support HH and the results will be same; HH wil come in number 2. EL will take the top step.

  8. Lets face the real facts. HH is not interested on character and welcomes everyone on board. With the new clause, the most important thing is to seek numerical advantage as every vote counts. Managing a first round winning is the key role. Sorting out and screening can follow later after forming the govt, Magufuli style. I therefore wish to differ with anyone concentrating on character because the primary issue in the meantime is to seek the numbers. Lets face this bitter reality.

  9. The problem with ECL is that he does not believe in reconciliation. He has not reconciled with those who campaigned and stood against him. He just says leave the party if you are unhappy. “Sela tubombeko.” Are you going to work with only people who worship you? People like Scott have been sidelined and yet he sacrificed a lot in the PF formative years. The Sampas and Sichingas of this world are not happy when they see new comers come in as full ministers at their expense. In a multi party set up it is a balancing act between the interest of old and new members and you cannot rule your party like a dictator because at the end of the day you will stand against real people in an election and you will need their support and not hyenas or frogs as was the case in a one party system.

    • @Senior Engineer

Sorry but your statement about our man of Peace is untrue. President Lungu did attempt to welcome all those he had trouble with during the famous convention. Some members of the two factions attempted to work together, GBM, Sampa, Mulenga Sata etc. but unfortunately most of them have become Turncoats and after feeding they went off to join other parties when it became clear HE Lungu was not going to be blackmailed into giving them high posts whilst turning a blind eye their corrupt tendencies. This is nonsense, we all were here at the beginning of Lungu’s match to State House.

  10. Better PF than same thieves regrouping in UPND.Nowonder Zambia can’t change coz of same politicians ruling us from one party to another.I hope Lungu will Kolopa them so that all old politicians are retired on nation interest.
Viva PF.We don’t need recycled politicians in Zambia.

    • @Moscow,you are 100% correct. Zambia can not continue to use the same recycled and tired politicians who keep jumping from one political party to another. They think that jumping from one party to another will make them new creatures with new ideas. We know them and let us retire them for good this time around if we are going to move our country forward.

    • Shut up Moscow op if you had the same hate for recycled politicians in 2011 by voting for a former colonial constable, later transformed into a unipist, then mutated into MMD follower and finally grew into a pf leader, you would have saved this country from the mess it in right now, long serving politicians are a normal occurrence is Democratic societies, they can serve under different political administrations and manage to transform, ever heard of Joseph Robinette Biden popularly known as joe biden? Do you know how long he has been senator and how many administrations he has served, in his long political career?

    • @ DIVIDE AND RULE, I don t normally agree with Moscow(OP) contributions on this forum, but this time he is right. And you have just shown how ignorant you are because the so called “Joseph Robinette Biden popularly known as joe biden” has been a Democrat all his political life serving as a Senator. He never was a political prostitute hoping from one party to another.Majority of the Zambia politician are always looking for opportunities to fill their bellies and not doing politics based on personal conviction to help the common man. No wonder they have nothing to offer, they hold masive rallies just to beach about other political parties instead of telling how they want to improve lives of common people.

    • That is the same reason the Grade 12 clause should remain untouched in the amended Constitution. The politicians are ganging up to fight the majority of Zambians to defeat the people’s wish.
Anyone who heard Kambwili’s statement on this matter whilst in Muchinga will agree with me that he was sounding a clarion call to ALL politicians, in government and in the opposition, to come together and act AGAINST the wish of the people of Zambia to amend this clause, for their OWN GOOD!
A real revolution is generations away…

  11. The same people you are calling corrupt will be welcomed into UPND with open and loving arms…and be given jobs in case he wins. no new leaders…same old recycled chaps

  12. Recycled politicians is the new word among PFool cadres, global is slowly fading away, if you had so much hate against long serving politicians, you would have served this country 2011 from the destructive hand of pf, because the Michael sata you voted for was a true definition of a recycled politician in Zambia from a colonial constable working for the colonial masters, to unip, then mmd, later pf… Different administration same politicians it happens in all Democratic societies ask Joseph Robinette Biden aka Joe Biden vice president of USA how long he has been senator and how many administrations he has served under, if this is your new tactic ba pf mwailasha, politics is dynamic, a politician of the seventies won’t be the same in the 21st century.

  13. What Mutati is saying about implementation skills on government loans is actually true. In the 1980’s the major towns in Southern Province suffered from severe water shortages and government got a loan from the AfDB on condition that a Water Engineer was employed in Choma. This loan could not be used for years because a Water Engineer was not employed. The power rehabilitation project funded by the WB took 11 years because of corruption surrounding its execution. On Sunday interview Lubinda revealed that there is money for irrigation schemes which has been lying idle for years. Mutati was in government at least during the P.R. Project. He never revealed these short comings perhaps because of collective responsibility. Now he wants us to believe that this is a new phenomenon associated…

    • @17,Senior Engineer RTD ac . Well put! ZESCO’s World Bank (WB) funded Power Rehabilitation Project (PRP) had to be put on hold particular bcoz of a corruption scandal involving French company,Alstom. The suspension led to delays which have affected power supply and distribution contributing to the current crisis. Mutati was Energy and then Commerce Minister at that time in MMD! He should what they did. Then as you have put it,project implementation is carried out by technocrats NOT politicians. The Civil Mutati left is still there and reforming it will require a national consensus and will take more than 5 years of a party’s tenure in power. What is his message really?

  15. From PF yes you can get such useless MPs like Guy Scot, Namulambe, Simuusa,Miles, Kazabu, GBM, Chenda and Shamenda who can not win you an election but you can never get the back bone of PF thus, Jean Kapata , Kambwili, Kampyongo, Lubinda, Mwenya Musenge, Mwimba Malama, Mukanga Mwata Yamvwa, Musukwa, Mbulu Rayford, Mwansa Kapeya, Christopher Mulenga Chiponde just like PF can never get Nkombo, Muntanga, Mwiimbu, Hamudududududu, Edgar Singombe,Moono Lubezhi, Mweetwa,Livune, and Ambrose Lufumo from upnd. In any case UPND can never form government with southern, western, north western and Nangoma and Itezhi tezhi constituencies.

  16. I don’t see anything wrong with the mps joining upnd . politics is about numbers and if those people will want to come and support upnd they are more than welcome. Why would you want to refuse supporters. They are not coming in to scramble for adoptions but to give solidarity

  17. Comment:
?PND leader does not seize to amaze me. How do you read the mod in the country do you really think people are ready for change of government? what motivation is there to change a captain of a ship when we are about to cross the bridge in conclusion poor analysis and thus the good reason people of can’t make such a mistake. Edgar Lungu will win with a convincingly vote so the doubtful Thomasis are there for a rude shock

  18. keep dreaming HH no pf mp will join upnd when they know that they will still bounce back to power, they are not desperate like miles sampa and gbm, they have failed to follow the LOLO LOLO slogan, bemba’s say umulilo uchingile abakulu taocha

  19. The same recycled politicians…??? So Zambians should expect or anticipate different results with the same failed leaders namely; Felix Mutati, Dr Chituwo, Prof. Lungwangwa, Namulambe, Wilber Simusa; GBM, Dr. Katema, etc in cabinet. Very sad indeed….!

  20. 1) “Mr. Hichilema boasts that a lot of them are just waiting to get their gratuity and that when parliament is dissolved; there is no doubt that they will join him”…….why reveal it this soon if you are sure they will join…why raise alert in rival campaign….clear signs of desperation, sensationalism and immature politics…boasting with no substance

    2) “And Former Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati says Zambia’s economy has continued to limp because of lack of implementation skills on the part of government”…….isn’t government made up of civil servants (technocrats) who do implement these policies and aren’t they the same ones he worked with whilst in government…did he notice this inability then or has seen it now that he is in opposition….Mutati…

  21. Why wait until dissolving of Parliament! If UPND have already been assured of these large numbers joining them, we encourage them to show themselves right now! It’s a throwdown challenge!

  22. Most MP’s have no following so you need to look at the bigger picture. a laugh at politicians like Dr Chituwo who want the party to be what gives them the numbers instead of them (him) giving numbers to the party. Political parties needs members who will add value not those who want the party to add value to them, a party is only worth its membership. if you get those, then you are good to go. This applies to all political parties….

  23. @ Tubombeko, your PF is only insala nsala just go a near compound of Lusaka or Chipata you will see how standard of living has dropped within PF rule of 5 years is unimanigeable to say the least. Basic prices of commodities in rural areas are beyond reach. Only thieving Zambians and those working for elite companies like ZRA, Zesco, and few priveledged civil servants are talking of PF winning 2016 elections

  24. Are you still blind ?at present you have recycled leaders in Pf Govt like Dora Siliya,Kaingu,Kapembwa Simbao, etc if you didn’t know.

  25. @HH,
This political prostitution should be stopped, why bring in the same failures and incompetent fellows who would not bring change within PF or MMD, into UPND? .
This is not a good strategy from HH, UPND will pay dearly for accepting those political prostitutes who are just looking for opportunities to fill their bellies.
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated to any Political Party.

  26. UPND , A PARTY FOR ALL THE PROGRESSIVE ZAMBIANS. KA LUNGU HAS DESTROYED OUR COUNTRY. KA LUNGU IS PRETENDING TO BE HUMBLE, YET HE IS A SERIOUS VIPER. KA LUNGU HAS RAVAGED OUR LIVES AS ZAMBIANS, ESPECIALLY THE LIVES OF OUR FUTURE LEADERS AND FUTURE WORKFORCE, OUR CHILDREN AT THE TWO STATE UNIVERSITIES. ABANDON KA LUNGU WHO SHOULD REMAIN ALONE IN THE DEAD PF. JUMP OUT OF THE SINKING BOAT, AND LET US JOIN HANDS IN UPND AND PUSH ZAMBIA’S AGENDA FORWARD. ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH UPND. ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH HH!

  27. @Patriot Abroad. I have no quarrel with him working behind the scenes. The issue I have with him are his public pronouncements: “Sela tubombeko” “PF is not personal to holder” etc. This not the language of reconciliation but from an embattled leader using provocative language that is bound to divide rather than unite political adversaries. Enjoy your dual citizenship, Patriot Abroad.

  28. The goodness with democracy is that even a d0g is free to dream! HH is still dreaming that he will unseat the PF, just how we all dont know. First, HH must clearly and concisely answer these questions he has been dodging for for long
    1. How will HH and UPND stop loadshedding in Zambia which has been cause by nature (poor rainfall) and WHEN? Let him also categorically point out the things regarding electricity development that he will do which the PF is not already doing.
    2. How will HH dramatically ensure that the Kwacha gains agaist the dollar to K4 to a dollar and what time period?
    3. How will HH force the privately owned mines to reinstate the retrenched miners in the face of global low copper prices and what is his time period?
    4. Let HH state clearly and demonstrate how he will…

  29. contd
    4. Let HH state clearly and demonstrate how he will reduce the price mealie meal. We all know that President Lungu and the PF Government have already started a practical and sustainable program to this effect.
    5. Let HH clearly tell the nation where he will find the money to offer free education from nursery to Colleges and Universities.
    6. HH should without rhetoric tell the nation the quality of jobs he will create for the much talked about youths stating the numbers and when.
last but not the least, let HH tell the nation why big multinational companies like BP, Anglo America are laying off hundreds of thousands of workers in the midst of commodity low prices like oil, gold, copper and other base metals.

If he can answer and demonstrate, NOT PROMISE that he can give these…

  30. We will see who are day dreamers form either UPND or PF,but I’m pretty sure PF will be bruised badly, come Miles Sampa or Kabimba Nawakwi;HH is winning no doubt.Anyway only two months left for dreamers to stop dreaming as some useless MPs have started aligning themselves to the wining team. One thing is very true, these MPs are hearing what’s on the ground, wait & see guys!

  31. Surely, do you expect thieves to be grounded in one place? They are very mobile! They move from one place to another looking for more lucrative oportunities. They will be on the move again because its their season to do so. Servanthood is not in their plans at all. All they want is more money in their pockets to spend and you yourself are busy making noise with your blind support.

  32. I thought this was the same guy who condemned pf for having embraced mmd mps kanshi naena alebafwaya?? Then I don’t see any need for ‘change’

  33. “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
    Albert Einstein
    Physicist

So UPND, stop bringing in the same old failed faces from other parties. You can do it by your selves.

Disclaimer: No political affiliation to any of the Parties.

  34. @31 imwe, PF has never rejected those who want to join it, but for UPND you promised a new style of doing things, a new era of economic management, a complete departure from old ways, smart economic management and no corruption. So it is UPND to explain how their turncoat style of recycling and regrouping thieves will achieve their original ideas. Right now with all those turncoats around HH like cockroaches, we the voters cannot see the difference between UPND and those that uPND previously labelled thieves. Please accept that UPND is now the party of thieves after they run away from Edgar and from MMD. But Edgar has enough clean young men to replace the recycled thieves come 11 August

  35. Don’t cheat people that power rehabilitation project took long because of corruption by Alstom. Alston was never found with a case in Zambia, but yes in other countries. The delay was nothing to do with corruption, ask world bank they are still there to tell you the truth.

    • The undeniable fact is that this project took too long for whatever reason and since you are ZESCO MD we would be grateful if you told us these reasons. This story was carried by the Post and nobody in government or ZESCO came out to deny it.

  36. As I have always said that underfive has a propensity to shoot himself in the foot at critical moments. Talk about the poisoned chalice!

  37. By the way, Terrible is now taking leave to go and prepare for exams. I will be back in time for the elections, hopefully by nominations. Good luck UPND, for you will need it in abundance at the rate you are going!
