Security wings in Shangombo District of Western Province have intercepted 370 suspected Angolan refugees who were being ferried by a named UPND official to help them obtain National Registration Cards.
ZNBC reports that the move was allegedly meant to enable the Angolan refugees register as voters and participate in the forth coming August 11th General Elections.
And NRC registrar at Shangombo District council has been suspended to assist with investigations into the matter.
Western province minister Poniso Njeulu who confirmed the development to ZNBC news said the refugees are from Kashisha Kalenuka refugee settlement camp.
Mr Njeulu said the suspended official is said to have received an inducement of K8,000 and 5 animals to facilitate the issuance NRCs to the refugees.
He said the provincial administration office has also demanded that the issuance of NRCs at the district council be suspended pending an independent investigation.
The Minister said the said security wings have also impounded a truck and a Noah mini bus which was being used to transport the refugees.

Is it a wonder then that in January 2015 Presidential bye-elections, “voter turn out” was over 100%? My advise to PF is that election malpractices as shown by UPND in January 2015 should not be allowed now and in the future! PF is in Government and they should deal with these criminals ruthlessly and without mercy.
