President LunguPresident Edgar Lungu has arrived in Eastern Province on a three-day working visit that will take him to Mfuwe, Chama, Lundazi, Vubwi, Chadiza Katete and Chipata.
At Mfuwe the President told a cheering crowd that the PF is enjoying nationwide support and therefore they party cadres must step up its mobilization to sustain the ruling party edge of the opposition.
At Chama the President has met with chiefs and party officials and inspected a number of projects.
The Head of State is encouraged by the massive response from the grassroots and urged party leaders to prepare for adoption of candidates at all levels of the forthcoming general elections.
In Lundazi the President will among other things commission the newly built Indo Zambia Bank building and urge the financial services sector to do more to spread banking service to rural areas.
In prepared remarks the President will say the launch of the branch represents the PF’s transformative agenda that has in the shortest possible time rolled out massive infrastructure developments across the country.
State House Spokesperson Amos Chanda in a statement says among the unprecedented projects taking place on Lundazi include the modern hospital, a Dam, Chased boarding school, Lundazi trades training school, Lundazi Chama Road, a new airstrip, 150 houses and new district council head office.
President Lungu is also expected to hold a special meeting on Saturday with Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni speaking people at Laweni palace before gracing the Nc’wala ceremony.

@Engineer; So you want president Lungu to just sit at state house and only start visiting other parts of the country when it’s officially campaign season? What kind of thinking is that. Mr Lungu is the president of Zambia and he has every right to visit any body any where at any time. If you want your preferred candidate to do that, then he has to win elections first. In the mean time your preferred candidate should wait his turn. It’s just as simple as that.
EL will win this hands down. The opposition still underestimate him.
Easterners you need to apply the nega nega formula. After all ECL is one of your own. And your numbers are much greater than southern province. Eastern and copperbelt province will decide who becomes president

Real desperation. A president commissioning a small branch of a bank in a rural setting? Where is the provincial Minister? And why should the president who is inspecting projects start talking about party matters and elections? The usage of the word ‘unprecedented’ is really unprecedented!
Last November, 2015, he addressed the nation and informed us that the Government would reduce of traveling and expenditure…. In January, we were in Roma, went to Bweenga, Itezhi Tezhi, Mwinilunga and now the whole of Eastern Province before the campaigns even begin. Oh, did Government just move a motion to increase the debt ceiling this Thursday for the 3rd time(if am not mistaken) in the last 3 years of successive budgets. Yes they did. Shamelessly so.. If this president had airforce 1, i would have said he is surely working even when up in the air, but having taken a look in the inside of that blue plane he was using during the bweengwa and solwezi trips, i only saw a chair, a table and him reading a newspaper, alot of man hours are being lost, the only thing he has achieved is that he has beaten most Zambian pilots on flight time, he surely makes some pilot’s CVs look so amateurish and babish.
HE chagwa lungu should be allowed to visit his own relatives the way HH visit Southern and invite diplomats who are not in anyway related to him. The president should physicaly visit projects to avoid being duped. HE give pipo the MPs they want. The better the candidate the more votes you will have.
Lungu would have easily defeated the opposition had he followed HH’s lectures on how to manage the economy.Instead of benefiting from free offered knowledge,he concentrated on recruiting PF thugs,promoting violence,developing poverty,disobeying the rule of law,encouraging massive corruption and manipulating the constitution making process.These are the factors which will engineer edgar lungu’s defeat in the August 2016 polls.The country wide early campaigns he is carrying out will not change anything.The moment campaigns commence,thats when lungu will feel his defeat from the collossal opposotion support.Time has come for UPND to govern through incoming republic president his excellency Hakainde Hichilema.God bless the peaciful party(UPND).
Prof GS; HH the lecturer has lost elections countless times. So why should ECL follow his advice? HH can give as many lectures as he wants but the truth is the man is not likable. People vote with their hearts and nothing else. HH may have sound ideas and may surround himself with so called intellectuals but it still won’t change the fact that people don’t like the man. He lacks personality and unfortunately that will always be his a Achilles heel.

@Spaka like lilo; my point is he has no gravitas. He has a ‘cold’ and unwelcoming personality that’s my point. It has nothing to do with his principles. You can’t compare him to a Sata or Chiluba or RB for that matter. Sata and Chiluba had a certain charm which HH immensely lacks.

When does Lungu actually sit down at his desk and assess what is happening socially and economically in the country – and what needs to be done, in conjunction with his ministers? All he is interested in is to stay in power at whatever cost – and he thinks he will do this through these populist illegal campaign tours. Opening or commissioning any little conceivable building or small scale project. Meanwhile inflation has risen to 22.5%. He has chosen political survival as opposed to stemming the road to national economic bankruptcy.
Zambians so obsessed with political parties that form govt rather than put the governance into check by rallying behind the opposition which creates checks and balances as opposed to blind loyalty even when govt is not living to the promises and people’s expectations. The other observation is opposition is so fragmented that they fail to come together to agree on national issues as against own individual policy and political agendas.Example even with the political the violence if only the opposition could come together.
