Opposition MMD leader Nevers Mumba this afternoon stayed away from the much publicised reconciliatory meeting with former President Rupiah Banda.
The meeting which proceeded without Dr Mumba was chaired by Northmead Assemblies of God Presiding Bishop Joshua Banda and was held at Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia offices on Kamloops road in Lusaka.
Mr Banda, suspended MMD Spokesman Rapheal Nakacinda and suspended MMD National Secretary Mwansa Mbulakulima including other senior party officials attended the meeting.
Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza also attended the meeting.
And addressing Journalists after the closed door meeting which lasted for an hour, Northmead Assemblies of God Presiding Bishop Joshua Banda said it is a pity that Dr Mumba did not attend the first meeting especially that he is key to the reconciliation.
Dr Banda said reconciliation is inevitable if the MMD is to survive.
“We are seeking to bring reconciliation so we began the process and we will take time to talk to everyone who is important in this process and we are now identifying all the parties in this process,” Dr Banda said.
He added,” We believe that the MMD as a former ruling party has an important role to play and what goes on with them is important for the country.”
