Bilton Musonda slams 2016 Charity Shield final timing

Share

Green Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda has criticized FAZ’s decision to host the 2016 Charity Shield final on Wednesday including the timing with Zambia’s training camp.

Buffaloes’ five key players only joined the team on Tuesday evening after two days in Zambia camp before losing 1-0 twenty four hours later to Power Dynamos via a 77th minute Larry Bwalya goal at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Musonda also wondered why the final was not played either last weekend or on Tuesday which was a International Womens Day public holiday instead of Wednesday which was a working day.

“We are very disappointed with the result as a team. I would blame the national team programme because our five national team players traveled on Sunday and came back Tuesday night,” Musonda said.

“You have seen the way they were playing. These are national team players, if they play like that then, where are we going as a nation?

“The blame is with national team, they have to plan well so that even us as clubs are not affected.”

  1. As a Zimbabwean here in Harare, i support your club. One question to you Musonda, how many players do you have in your team? That was the best time to use other players and even juniors so as to give them a chance. Your team or club is not made up of players who were in camp. Thats why teams have 24 or 30 players. You should have rested those players and use those who always sit on the bench, after all it was just a charity match.
THE PLAYERS YOU USED WHO WERE IN CAMP SUFFERED A BURN OUT AND YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE USED THEM.
