United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has given the ruling Patriotic Front Government a one month ultimatum to reintroduce the meal allowances at the two affected highest learning institutions, Report Pan African Radio Journalist Hermit Hachilonde.
Mr. Hichilema said the decision to withdraw the student meal allowance was a miscalculation by the PF Government that consider education as a privilege and a cost and not an investment and a right of every zambian citizen.
He added that Governing PF should remodel the way they view education and realise that it is not a favour to the zambian citizens but an investment to the country.
Mr. Hichilema pledged that if the PF Government remains adamant and does not reinstate the students’ meal allowances forthwith, he will reintroduce the them and even adjust them upwards immediately post the August 2016 elections .
“I have given lungu month ultimatum, failure to which I will do it myself after 11th August, 2016” Hakainde Hichilema said
Meanwhile Mr. Hichilema maintained that he will not apologize for his statement on the alleged maize shortage that has hit the country because he speaks from an informed position.
“No need of arguing with Lubinda and Edgar lungu because I know what am talking about” Hakainde Hichilea said
And Mr Hichilema bragged about building a modern Hospital in Bwengwa contrary to assertions that he has never ploughed back into his home village.
Mr. Hichilema also enthused about the many philanthropic activities he and his family engage in to cushion the suffering of the underprivileged in a small way commensurate with their capacity to extend a helping hand.
“He intelligence should have told him that this person you are insulting has built a modern hospital nearby” said Hakainde Hichilema

PF Cant manage to remove these allowances.If they do, we wiil not worry much because we already have a savior who will not only give us the allowances that we deserve but increase them also. PF is busy removing allowances. Ask civill servants. They will tell you that some allowances have been scrapped off. EG retention allowance for those who acquire degrees and settling in allowance which is nolonger given to teachers even when they still exist on paper.

The cutting of meal allowances in itself is not a wrong move. It should have been cut a long time ago and replaced with an effective loan scheme. Advantages of a loan scheme over the current bc plan expands the number of people that can have access to sponsorship and will result in an even greater number of individuals being educated. The wrong in the cut will be to abruptly stop giving an allowance to those that are in their last year, second last or even 2nd year of study who entered the universities with a notion that they will be paid by government throughout. The only change that can and should be made is the reinstating of meal allowances to those who have been getting them. The stopping of the meal payments can start with the new students entering these universities this year.
On the modern hospital and his former school, its disappointing to hear our leader say I BUILT A MODERN HOSPITAL and ignored admission to that fact that something could be done for the school too. The truth is the school was not important and that’s why many other charity works were done but the school was neglected.
Students ask uth nurses they were fooled by this man saying he will give them lawyers,they were fired this man went underground and its individuals who were crying others were innocent others were paid to do this it was not group work but one boll,

But if you will reintroduce meal allowances if you came to power what is the ultimatum all about?

Whatever orders he has issued have fallen in his camp! Students at the two universities should not take things for granted especially meal allowance that is not a right and for that matter it can be scraped off! They should remember that there are many more high learning institutions in Zambia that are Public where students may need the same meal allowance. Never be misled by politicians like Hakainde who think they can instruct even the Republican President without weighing the genesis of the issue. The way Hakainde comes out issuing instruction on any move government takes is the way we expect him to do if at all he was elected president…

The nation is wasting precious time debating issues that come from the stuipid uncouth uncultured behaviour of people like you instead of tackling important things that will drive the nation forward. The painful thing is that just a handful of idiiots like you has caused anguish to thousands of serious and genuine students including my hardworking daughter.
