The Law Association of Zambia has said that it will refer the case of the two Lusaka Girls, who were painted at Jet Stores after being suspected of Shoplifting, to the Legal Aid Clinic for Women so that a consideration for commencing action to claim for damages is commenced.

In a statement made available to the Media, LAZ also called upon the law enforcement agencies to lay criminal assault charges against the perpetrators.

    • Nice one. LAZ should have just kept quite. As you correctly put it, which one is worse, someone who stole and was painted or someone who is innocent and is stripped naked? Yaba!!!

    • I totally agree with you, I would have expected LAZ to move with the same zeal exhibited to the lady/sister who was stripped naked. What they (LAZ) have done here is to go after the small fish (Jet Stores), as for me there action is not good faith. That is why I cannot trust the legal system in Zambia as both lawyers and judges etc are all corrupt. Ask Musa Mwenye if you are doubting me.

    • damn!,,, this lame LAZ must shut up!! you are failed to defend Musa Mwenye when Lungu is/was abusing him for advising people to do the right thing,,, that UPND girl was stripped by PF you were dead quite,,, even when ex father bwalya was poured shake shake ,,, you were quite,,, now you want to talk about paint!!! Oh please!!!

    • mmm LAZ, what would happen if the shop was to lay charges of shopping lifting? Probably the girls chose to be painted, rather than go to jail…., just thinking loudly

    • @Pretty there is extremely wisdom in your comment, even Ester L can’t think like you. However I find it romantic, if you meet please don’t expect me to paint you.

    • @Nostramadus, my friend, when you see me (forget painting, waste of time) YOU WILL JUST ME TO POUR PAINT ALL OVER ME. LOL.

    • @Nostramadus, you cracked my ribs that I ended up writing wrong English. My friend, when you see me (forget painting, waste of time) YOU WILL JUST WANT TO POUR PAINT ALL OVER ME. LOL.

    • Foolish LAZ, ALL QUIET WHEN YOUNG WOMAN STRIPPED NAKED, UPND CADRES being kicked by police on Video – now here we HAVE SHOPLIFTERS, who have been humiliated with some paint only, THE WHOLE OF LAZY LAZ IS UP IN ARMS, won’t be SURPRISED IF THEY OPT TO TAKE THE CASE TO LONDON!!!!
LAZY LAZ, always on the WRONG FOOTING – supporting SHOPLIFTERS & THIEVES LIKE CHAGWA – why did you reinstate his license when he had NEVER PAID BACK HIS CLIENTS?????
THIEVES SCRATCHING EACH OTHERS BACKS! WHY HAVEN”T YOU COME OUT IN SUPPORT OF MWENYE?? ALL SILENT AGAIN!! As KK would say,”Useful Idi…ts!!”

    • why did they react when the young lady was stripped but quick to defend criminals? very foolish bunch of jokers

    • Thank you very much LAZ. The country appreciates your move. Let the i.diots be taught a lesson. They`ll compensate the two girls, and that shop will close.

  1. LAZ should also be proactive in incidences of police brutality. So many innocent citizens have been assaulted by Zambia Police officers and no action has is taken.

  2. Good super ADVICE!!! This should serve as lesson to all mall owners. Don’t take us for granted because of our weak enforcement of our laws sometimes we bite! Don’t go for the ignorant Zambian worker Go for the manager then justice will be served. Again Kudos to LAZ

  3. If this foolish act was committed by a local store “Indian” LAZ would be very silent. The fruits of Double Standards flourish in Zambia regardless of the season because the ground is extremely fertile and firm accommodating ubupuba. To @Pretty’s point, stripping women in the public, what kind of morals are you planting in children? Ubufontini lisambi.

  4. Nice. This is how you roll dice. Victims of police brutality should also be given such extra support. Niice!

  5. LAZ should also consider reporting the same girls to police for shop lifting. Let’s not be more concerned with reactionary behaviour than the vice that triggers it.

  6. The same HRC and LAZ are quiet when a girl was striped naked at Youth day Celebrations! Hypocrites atase!

    • @Jay Jay did you know SHOPRITE also strip search their employees when they enter the building. I experienced this when I asked to use the rest rooms and they said they wanted to search me before I went into the shanks! I refused and told them to accompany me to and from the toilet! And yet their muzungu managers walk-in and out at will!

    • Unfortunately thick cadres have hijacked the threat as usual with their nonsense…can’t you not see that this case will not only bring out human rights issues of the accused but bring to light labour laws as well- as a shop assistant its not your role to run after thieves and as a store guard you also have limited powers you simply apprehend and refer the matter to Police.

  7. this is nonsense action bcz der r so many pipo in zambia whose rights hv beemn violated much dan dz thieves

  8. If anyone ever doubted, here is more proof that there is selective justice in our Country. A young innocent lady was attacked and stripped naked IN FULL VIEW of the vice President AND the so-called Police on Youth Day. The attackers are know, but up to now NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.
LAZ is quick to come to the rescue of two shoplifters and quote articles in the Laws of Zambia, but when an innocent person is attacked and stripped, these Liars And Zombies (LAZ) quickly look the other way. Their silence on the matter is deafening.

  9. UPND stripped naked a PF supporter in MAZABUKA not mentioning the beating of father Bwalya and Dandy Crazy. What is it that PF has done which UPND has not done? Remember the blood we witnessed in North Western province between UPND and MMD.

    • ASSANGE you are just one indoctrinated bastard who believes everything you hear on deadNBC. Give us pictures and videos of what you talking about, or i you also going to say it was dark like the bweengwa saga.

  10. Here we go again in circles misleading our two hopeless girls to sue so that they can be grilled by defense lawyers, similarly to the case of Mukamuluti Mwila of Game Stores Zambia vs Maduramuthoo Mare Palan. Do both, the two girls and our Legal Aid have what it takes to face the likely foreseable defence lawyers like Eric Silwamba? No hope? Mukamuluti Mwila was inspired by political heavyweights including the then Ministers you call of Labour, Genger, Chiefs Affairs, whatever you call Mother and Child, to whose outcome I do not know for the poor girl. It is now time for the Ministers of Labour and Home Affairs to Act, by revoking their work and residence permits for people who instructed the excited poor staff to paint the poor girls, too. Do their work permits include dispensing…

    • Do their work permits include dispensing justice in Zambia, have they been hired by the Zambian Courts, are they legal institutions or shops? When are the politicians going to work for people who vote them into office, like during election years like this year 2016. They sign statutory instruments and amended constitutions but can not sign deportation orders, why? Is it lack of signing pens or powers. Draftsmen, please draft one for our hardworking president to sign, if the ministers can do so although this is a small job for the president when there are so many lieutenants.

  11. To protect other people’s properties, shariah has prescribed the cutting of hands to the thieves…he sentence should be more of a deterant than a punishment… LAZ and HRM should open shops where shoplifters will be left unscratched.

  12. The reaction by bloggers here is shocking. A wrong is a wrong and must be condemned as such. Just because LAZ hasn’t condemned on other vices does not mean they should continue being mute when they see a wrong being perpetrated against innocent people. I acknowledge their hypocrisy and it is good to call them out on it but they shouldn’t be vilified for attempting to do the right thing. Who knows maybe they are redeeming themselves, but we should also know that they are stretched and only have limited amount of resources, with few full time employees. No I’m trying to defend them but I refuse to condemn them for this case.

What we need in Zambia is to have lawyers who would volunteer occassionally to help victims such as these and provide free services but majority of them are…

    • I feel sorry for the ladies, i cannot blame them for what they did this is coz of pf govt poor economic performance. A lot of ministers are stealing and no action is being taken at all. Please do not arrest these girls, im glad these chaps have been fired by management, who painted them.employ qualified personnel with public relation.

  13. So, you mean that these nefarious nincompoop girls are immune to prosecution? The girls stole clothes and they were punished. The punishment was lenient.
Just becoz they are girls you are protecting them. If its the case, why not let girls and women get into each and every JET stores and take whatever they want without paying? This is what the Zambian law want.

  14. Good move LAZ but what about standing out to PF for the lady who was stripped naked. How about standing up for the victims of PF police brutality? How about standing out against PF’s treatment against opposition leaders? Are you afraid of losing your jobs?

  15. LAZ, you have definitely lost it on this one. Why defend thieves and close your eyes on the UPND young lady who was stripped naked on youth day by PF cadres. Which case is more serious? Sara Longwe, which side are on? Women Lobbyists, why are quiet on this one? Shame on you!

  16. Facts, these girls were suspects and therefore, innocent until proven guilty by the courts of law. Jet stores punished innocent girls. The girls did not exit the doors when they were apprehended meaning shoplifting did not occur in this case. The girls simply moved the items from one shelf to the other within jet stores.instant justice is a crime against humanity. Suspects have to be tried and proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt.

    • You are a lawyer is it so small wonder lawyers argue other the same law one for the other against trust them at your own peril.

  17. So far I have not heard any of the “suspected shoplifters” say anything or complain. The woman who was stripped naked has complained. LAZ and the so called “some of us” have remained mute. Hypocrites of the highest order.

  18. Awe sure , back LAZ why all of a sudden an over zeal to call for legal action over thieves, we know it’s wrong to take the law into your own hands, but here is a case which a girl was stripped naked in full view of police officers and Lady Vice president, she has even lodge an official complaint, but nothing has been done, what is your take? Te Equity mulandapo mu Law?

  19. As usual, LAZ buries its incompetence in merely making a statement. You bet there will be no action. Referring the case to NLAC for Women is baffling. It’s is just an escape for LAZ. These ladies were abused, not as women but as human beings and as Citizens with constitutional rights for dignity and protection. LAZ should act accordingly without hiding behind NLAC.

Secondly, the Law and LAZ need to pounce on Jets store. The employees acted in the name of the store. Even the paint was supplied through the authority and mandate of the store. There is no way Jets could run away from this failure. Jets should bear responsibility. Jets should be prosecuted!
