People’s Party President Mike Mulongoti has reminded the Constitutional Court to realize that time is running out for them to resolve the pending Constitutional matters brought out by various stakeholders.

Mr. Mulongoti cites the issue of the Grade 12 school certificate requirement for elective office as one such thorny issue the court must address with the urgency it deserves.

He says there are a number of issues which have been raised by the people especially those pertaining to the electoral process which require interpretation by the court.

Mr. Mulongoti says there is need for constitutional court to ensure people are not disadvantaged in the forthcoming elections by beginning to interpret constitutional issues which require clarification.

  1. Face it Mulongoti, we have flushed out illiterate MPs and Local government officials. There will be only a new, educated breed beyond August this year. No wonder previous governments have been afraid to pass a people driven constitution. People like you are scum

    • WHY HAS THAT CLAUSE BROT ALL THIS NOISE. G12 SURE? ITS JUST GRADE 12 GENTLEMEN, BUSY FIGHTING G12 CLAUSE. WHICH INFACT SHOULD BE SUPPORTED THAN FOUGHT AGAINST

  2. Mulongoti ati urgently,,,, haha haha Grade 12 certificates are not urgent,,, ubunga shortage is an urgent issue,,, grade 12 can be obtained ku night school

  3. Let the clause alone please. We know you wish it will be reversed. The constitutional court’s mandate is to interpret and not to change anything. So the G12 clause stands. Even Rural areas need people that can read and write. How are they going to interpret the law to their citizens if they cannot read? This is not medieval time!

  4. Mike whats the fuss about? The constitution says grade 12 or its equivalent. Now the grades started in 1976 or 1977 before that we had forms. So when it says and its equivalent it is referring to form 5. So those without grade 12 should not worry as long as they have form 5 certificate. Form 6 is an added advantage. So what is there to clarify Mike? Ndiwe lawyer wakuti iwe?

  5. Grade 12 clause doesn’t need any clarification Mr Mulongoti. It’s just that plain and clear. It’s not complicated as u seem to make it.

  6. All Pf mps without g12 are going to upnd. Their headboy GBM is busy welcoming them.
Upnd a party with a leader who was not elected or voted for but was ushered in by a clause of only a Tonga has been in leadership for more than ten years.
It’s a shame that the stupid white man can tell Mugabe that he is still a president when lost elections 8years ago and he aligns himself with leader who has never passed through an election process.

  7. G 12 clause very good but only for councilors let them revise to G 9 to accommodate those in typical villages like shangombo. Only for councilors guys.

  8. Scott has become irrelevant. How does he support a leader put there on tribal grounds. The rightful leader of UPND was supposed to be Sakwiba Sikota.Sata if he was still alive was going to tell off this old man who is following money and positions at the expense of his own party which has done exceptionally well.

  9. Grade 12 or Form V means just that. No further interpretation is required. A degree is not grade 12 or it’s equivalent although it is higher than grade 12. For example in Canada the first degree in engineering is the qualification used in assessing and admitting or rejecting or assigning more courses if a degree lacks certain courses or depth of courses to be admitted to engineer-in-training for a minimum of 4 years before you qualify as a professional engineer (junior engineer). A higher degree or Doctorate is never used in ssessing anybody to engineer-in-training. There are some people with masters or doctorate without proper first degree or no first degree in engineering and cannot practice engineering nor called an engineer in Canada. Dr. Kaingu being a doctor understands that. It…

  11. Iwe it’s having obtained, as a minimum academic qualification, a grade twelve certificate or its equivalent; and not school certificate which is passed with a credit(s).

  12. Mulongoti is right u pipo. No one has a problem with a just G12, the problem is grading it such as one should has 2 credits or better brabraaaaa. All what we nid is a grade 12 without strings attached
