PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says his party will not sit idle and let UPND President Hakainde Hichilema tarnish the name of the party by propagating lies about the PF government.
Mr Bwalya said members of the PF and those in government will continue responding to Mr Hichilema as long as he continues telling lies about the government.
He accused Mr Hichilema of lying on BBC radio that the Zambian government exported maize at US$200 and is now importing the same maize at $400.
“As long as Mr Hakainde Hichilema continues to say things about PF government which are not true we are going to respond. No one should think that we are panicking over him not at all as long as he says something that we don’t agree with, that we think is misleading we are going to respond.
“For instance his statement on BBC recently that the Zambian government sold maize at $200 per metric ton and is importing the same maize at $400 that was a lie and those in government including some of us in PF can not keep quiet, we need to respond.
“I must be very clear that we will not stop talking about President Hakainde Hichilema, about the things that he says when we don’t agree and in the same way no one should stop him from criticising government decisions or indeed the PF,” he said.
And Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili has appealed to the media to be ethical in their reporting.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Kambwili said government is in receipt of information that some media houses have been paid to give positive coverage to selected political parties while painting others in the negative.
Mr. Kambwili has called on the body mandated to regulate ethics for newspapers to do its job because the government is concerned with the language and tone of some newspapers.
And Mr. Kambwili has called on former Vice President Guy Scott to leave active politics saying he has lost integrity.
Mr. Kambwili disclosed that Dr Scott was twice offered ministerial positions by President Edgar Lungu which he turned down.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili said Democratic Front leader Miles Sampa was misleading the people over reasons why he chose to leave the PF.
Mr. Kambwili said all those that were fighting President Lungu were doing so out of hatred.
