Roan United and Kitwe United on Sunday made impressive starts to the 2016 FAZ Division 1 Zone 2 campaign after securing fantastic wins in their respective opening fixtures.
Roan thumped ZNS Lwamfumu 2-0 at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya thanks to goals registered by striker Lyson Sikaonga and Jeff Sikapite.
This was also the first game in charge for Roan coach Paul Mulenga whom the club re-engaged after firing John Lungu at the start of the year.
At Garden Park Stadium, Kitwe United overcame favourites Konkola Blades 2-0 to excite home supporters.
New Buchi Boys Emmanuel Chabula and midfielder Holy Songwe scored first half goals in the 7th and 45th minutes respectively.
Konkola were only demoted from the Super Division last season.
There were also wins for promoted Bresmar United, Zesco Solwezi, Chingola Police and Copperbelt Buffaloes as the Division 1 Zone 2 season started with Week 2 games.
Coach Fred “Schemer” Siame started his reign as Indeni coach with a shocking 1-0 loss at Zesco Solwezi while Kalulushi Modern Stars were stunned 1-0 by Copperbelt Buffaloes in Ndola.
The Ndola derby between Ndola United and Gomes Wanderers finished 1-1.
