Makwaza slams spark-less Nkana-Power derby

Share

Linos Makwaza has described Saturday’s Kitwe local derby between Nkana and Power Dynamos played in Wusakile as spark-less.

Nkana fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Power in the low key Week 10 match of the FAZ Super Division played at Nkana Stadium.

Makwaza, a Power legend and ex-midfielder, said this year’s derby was less entertaining compared to previous matches between the two sides.

“I have played the derbies before but I think the derby has lost some ingredients associated with entertaining football,” the ex-Nkana coach said.

Power stole the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break via a Kennedy Mudenda goal before Nkana came back in the last half in which Jacob Ngulube levelled the scores.

“The game lacked sparks and the tempo has gone down,” Makwaza said.

League leaders Nkana were favourites over Power coming into this game watched by a huge crowd.
