President Edgar Lungu has arrived in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah.
The Presidential Challenger plane carrying President Lungu landed at the King Abdullaziz International Airport at 18:45hrs local time.
He was received at the airport by the Governor of Mecca Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba, Energy Minister Dora Siliya, Zambia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Mumba and other senior government officials.
ZNBC’s Paul Shalala reports that the President later proceeded to the Jeddah Conference Palace where he is lodging.

Yes we need cheap oil,but cheap is not always cheap! Saudi Arabia has been getting huge portions of land in poor countries in Africa to produce cheap food for its growing population. Do not forget that before Rupiah Banda left office there was a deal to give huge tracts of land to a Saudi family to produce fruits especially pineapples. While there is nothing wrong with that,it may could have come with its price- conditions that could have even led to spread of mosques and islamic fundamentalism and its principals. I have read in the Daily Mail that Zambia can benefit from Saudi’s fruit and vegetable market especially through Mangoes,Avocadoes and Pineapple exports.
