Police have recorded a warn and caution statement from Kabwata constituency Independent Candidate Clement Tembo for discharging a firearm during the filing of nominations at St Patricks School to scare PF cadres who allegedly wanted to attack him.

Police Spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo revealed that Mr Tembo was warned and cautioned after he was summoned to the police following the incident which happened on Tuesday.

Mrs Katongo said investigations into the matter will continue to ascertain who fired warning shots.
Mr Tembo, who decided to stand as an independent candidate after being left out of the PF adoptions, had to fire several warning shots to keep irate PF cadres at bay.

The cadres got incensed when they saw that some of the vehicles on Mr. Tembo’s entourage were branded in PF colours.

They began to stone the vehicles, forcing Mr. Tembo to fire some warning shots to disperse the cadres.
When he assessed that the situation was not favourable, he drove off and only returned after over an hour to file his nomination.

PF candidate Given Lubinda’s supporters clashed with Mr. Tembo’s supporters who were also using the sontapo PF slogan.

Police had to move in to restore calm to the nomination centre.

  1. Police, be fair. What should he have done to protect his corpus from PF hooligans who you the Police are scared of. We are now in self help society. There is no neutral Police but only PF police aiding ruling party. People, especially opposition are maimed and property damaged and Police will only show up after the fact.
Shame on Lunga and cadre Kanganja.
