Mbita Chitala endorses President Lungu, says changing Presidents this year will destabilise Zambia

Headlines Mbita Chitala endorses President Lungu, says changing Presidents this year will destabilise...

Veteran politician Mbita Chitala says removing President Edgar Lungu from office in the August elections will destabilise the nation.
Dr Chitala said President Lungu’s performance as Head of State has been excellent.

In a statement, Dr Chitala who is credited to have been one of the founder members of the MMD said the performance of the government of President Lungu cannot be faulted having been in office for only twelve months.

“My considered view is that, the way things stand, regardless of the outcome of the elections, the challenges to defeat poverty, backwardness, inequality and social injustice will still be there in our country calling for more dedication to the struggle of our people against these vices,” Dr Chitala said.

Dr Chitala charged that Zambia is now more united under the leadership of President Lungu.

“They have delivered a new constitution as promised. There is equitable development everywhere. This is in spite of the challenges occasioned by the global economic crisis which has seen us get reduced earnings from our copper. This is why, it is advisable we continue for the next five years with this political formation,” he said.

He added, “Many observers agree that electing the Lungu/Wina ticket will unite our country and continue a process of economic growth of our country. Any attempt to change now will destabilize our nation.”

Below is Dr Chitala’s full statement

IN SUPPORT OF CANDIDATURE OF EDGAH CHAGWA LUNGU FOR PRESIDENT

By: Dr. Mbita Chitala

In endorsing and supporting the candidature of the ticket of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu/Mrs. Inonge Mutukwa Wina and the PF party to win the Presidential and General elections slated for August 11, 2016, it is important to appreciate that our country still has many challenges in advancing our democracy to deal with problems of national unity, the struggle against poverty, underdevelopment and inequality.

Our country is currently heaving with uncertainty and anxiety.

The streets of Lusaka and the Copperbelt towns for instance are now theatres of needless political violence and terror among our citizens which all meaning citizens have condemned.

The opposition UPND and FDD parties have been quarrelling with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) claiming that the ECZ have at the instigation of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) registered foreign nationals to vote, that the ECZ have connived with the PF to rig the elections by printing ballot papers in Dubai.

Such claims by the opposition parties which are unsubstantiated, have been aimed to preparing the ground to not only discredit the ECZ but also to prepare ground to refute the results of the elections.

This blatant insincerity is unacceptable political conduct. Social media is awash with hateful messaging that is aimed at breaking our nation. Hawkish politicians from mainly the opposition parties are spreading incendiary rhetoric aimed at radicalizing their supporters and priming them for confrontation. This is bad politics.

Hawkish politicians from mainly the opposition parties are spreading incendiary rhetoric aimed at radicalizing their supporters and priming them for confrontation. This is bad politics.

All this has been happening ahead of the Presidential and General elections set for August 11, 2016 which will, all things being equal, be a battle between President Lungu with his running mate Mrs. Inonge Mutukwa Wina with their allies the MMD and over twelve other political parties who will be pitted against Mr. Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Mr. Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba (if it is confirmed he qualifies to stand as a running mate) together with a few nondescript entities who will be gunning to be President of Zambia for the fifth time – and some say- last time.

The two Presidential candidates Lungu and Hichilema are clearly the two front runners.

They are both graduates from the University of Zambia. President Lungu is a Lawyer who has lived in Chawama compound among the people from where he practiced his law and began a political career that saw him rise from being a Member of Parliament for Chawama constituency to being a Deputy Minister and was later promoted by the Late President Sata to become a Minister of Home Affairs and later Minister of Defence.

He was also appointed Secretary General of the PF after President Sata dismissed the arrogant and rude Winter Kabimba.

Lungu soldiered on to be elected as President of the PF in spite of opposition from such colleagues as the then Acting President Dr. Guy Scott and his bunch of trouble makers who attempted to subvert the election of Lungu.

At great odds, Lungu went on to be elected as President of the Republic in which capacity he has served for about year with great patriotism and excellence.

In the Presidential elections, President Lungu’s principal challenger will be President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND who has lost four elections already and who some people consider the richest man in Zambia having amassed enormous wealth after working as a consultant and liquidator of privatized state companies such as the Luanshya Mine which he assisted sale to some failed Indian entity called Binani and other companies such as Inter-Continental Hotel in Livingstone which he ended up being a shareholder and chairman.

Mr. Hichilema carries himself as a smart businessman and hopes to bring this expertise to the governance of Zambia.

And in this, he is supported by a political formation that Mr. V.J. Mwaanga once described as tribally based that draws much support from the Bantu Botatwe tribal grouping in Zambia.

He has attempted but failed to build a national coalition by collecting a few nondescript characters from other regions albeit in a marginal way.

Such is the case when he imposed discredited persons in his campaign team which saw the resignation of many of his original members from his party including his Vice President to join the PF party.

My considered view is that, the way things stand, regardless of the outcome of the elections, the challenges to defeat poverty, backwardness, inequality and social injustice will still be there in our country calling for more dedication to the struggle of our people against these vices.

The performance of the government of President Lungu cannot be faulted having been in office for only twelve months. Its performance so far has in practice been excellent. Our country is now more united.

They have delivered a new constitution as promised. There is equitable development everywhere. This is in spite of the challenges occasioned by the global economic crisis which has seen us get reduced earnings from our copper.

This is why, it is advisable we continue for the next five years with this political formation.

Many observers agree that electing the Lungu/Wina ticket will unite our country and continue a process of economic growth of our country.

Any attempt to change now will destabilize our nation.

Of course in the long term, we need to change our politics.

We must break the cartels that have captured our state. We must reduce mass poverty and deep inequalities among our people. We must reject the neo-liberal capitalist policies that tend to suffocate our people.

We must have zero tolerance policies against corruption. We must reject tribalism, provincialism and all manners of sectarianism.

We should ensure that the next elections bring about popular change which Zambians have begun to experience as evidenced by the unity of our nation and the massive investments in our road network, power generation, communications, agriculture, manufacturing, mines, tourism and the social sector.

We must break the cartels that have captured our state. We must reduce mass poverty and deep inequalities among our people.

We have so far had multi-party elections in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006,2008, 2011 and 2014. These coming elections on August 11,2016 will be our eighth Presidential elections.

All the past elections were characterized by persistent concerns about fairness and credibility of the outcomes.

Most of the political parties aspired to build a capitalist formation in Zambia. Their only differences were expressed in their ethnic bases, personalities and never on ideology.

That is why their leaders easily entered into alliances with each other without any attempt to consult their members.

And this was usually after money changed hands or the promise of lucrative government jobs. It did not matter who came to power.
Politicians pursued power and not a national vision. This has been our poor heritage which our new political leaders must address and change so that politics is anchored on integrity and respect.

It is important we transform elections so that they become a catalyst for bringing about popular change. Elections should not be commercialized or transactional.

The current unregulated campaigns mean that whoever has money will win through massive bribery and vote buying.

This must change. Currently, monies from all sorts of sources find their way in the election campaigns.

Drug money, proceeds from criminal conduct, from poaching, from advance bribes from businessmen expecting to be rewarded government contracts, funds diverted from projects, money looted from public coffers and so on must never be allowed to make dirty our electoral process.

What is even more disheartening is that because of mass poverty, illiteracy, ignorance, unemployment and general hopelessness of many of our people, many of our citizens have no interest in politics, they are apathetic and do not critically examine the manifestos of political parties.

Many of our people would rather receive bribes in form of T-shirts, Chitenge material or money to vote for certain candidates or join gangs to disrupt the campaigns of the opponents of their candidates.

The MMD vision in 1991 was the desire to claim rights to adequate food, shelter, water, land, education, health care and the rights to freedom of association, freedom of speech, movement, freedom from harassment and so on.

After 52 years of our independence and 24 years of multi-partism, millions of Zambians still go to bed hungry and sickly children still learn under trees as we politicians still pursue power for personal glory.

There is need that we address our politics and drive to change the status quo.

The challenge for politicians is to bring food to the table.

It is gratifying that in the one year that President Lungu has been at the helm of the leadership of our country, some noticeable progress towards achieving self-sufficiency in human needs have begun to be addressed.

Many citizens are happy that President Lungu and the PF government have addressed the Mung’omba draft constitution and on 11 August, we will be voting in a people’s referendum to enhance our Bill of Rights.

This enhanced Bill of Rights is quite revolutionary and all well-meaning Zambians should vote affirmatively.

It is also gratifying that President Lungu and his government has embarked on extensive public works program which has seen the construction of massive infrastructure in the whole country.

This enhanced Bill of Rights is quite revolutionary and all well-meaning Zambians should vote affirmatively.

It is also hoped that in the next government, President Lungu and his government will review and implement a taxation policy and system that will provide for price participation in mineral sales, reduce PAYE, abolish nuisance taxes, reduce production taxes – put money in people’s pockets; re-dedicate the government and the people to zero tolerance against corruption and re-enact abuse of office as a corrupt offence under the ACC Act; institute indigenous empowerment measures; create a sovereign fund from excess earnings from minerals and support the creation of Zambian middle class; zero rate agriculture; continue investing in education, health and housing; implement a program to create a million jobs annually by implementing a state driven public works program to construct 2 million houses, road construction and other infrastructure; implement equitable and efficient implementation of government programs emphasising “One Zambia One Nation” motto and doctrine that is against tribalism, nepotism, provincialism, sexism, racism and such a policy that appreciates excellence, performance, skills and fair play.

Such a minimum program in our view will provide a basis for national unity and make the next PF government provide useful public service.

In the current political and economic atmosphere, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and the Patriotic Front party provide the best political formation and should be endorsed and supported to win the August, 11 Presidential and General Elections.

  1. Oh no, not this finished guy!

Maintaining PF would be very disastrous as seen by the corruption and mismanagement right now!

    • No comment , will just Quote this from the article, Ouuchii, I must say

In the Presidential elections, President Lungu’s principal challenger will be President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND who has lost four elections already and who some people consider the richest man in Zambia having amassed enormous wealth after working as a consultant and liquidator of privatized state companies such as the Luanshya Mine which he assisted sale to some failed Indian entity called Binani and other companies such as Inter-Continental Hotel in Livingstone which he ended up being a shareholder and chairman.

This will never go away , will it?

    • This Bitter Chikkala must have low standards and weak reasoning. What is his PhD in – selling salaula?

    • Shouldnt matter,

If HH invited him for dinner last week, he would have endorsed HH

Explains the credence of this endorsement. This is water under a bridge. Largely because of the reason he has given.
I dont like HH, but Mbita is as relevant as his PhD he acquired after being 60.

      Thanks

    • The Derick chitala people knew those days was intelligent and rich but the name change from Derick to mbita destabilised this person,,, mbita is now a begger

    • Not out of hate or envy, my young brother Hichilema has a non realizable battle to scratch the eminent victory of Lungu. Before many ethical Zambians he is a callous with a lot of work to explain his unethical practices and spiritual covenant with the dark world. This is why this election is a referendum of grassroot leaders vs.plutocracy, spiritial darkness vs. Christian light, national interest vs. Imperial agenda. These are fundamentals hard to wash away.

    • The ***** killed Dean Mungomba and he thinks we have forgotten his evil act. Bring him to me for castration.

    • @MMD Chief Bootlicker, that quote will never go away because HH betrayed the trust of the Zambians together with some other unmentioned rich guys not in politics…Henceforth, HH will always find it difficult to win the Presidency as that’s the punishment he will live with for the rest of his life as long as he does not repent..UPND die – hards, your insults will never re-write that fact of history about your Semi god HH…

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks!” You can take a horse to water, BUT you can’t force it to drink!” etc etc

Sometimes, I think you have to give the man credit – as he was there during the inception of MMD – BUT THAT IS WHERE THE DOUBTS BEGIN BOGGLING ONES MIND – was this man REALLY ONE OF THE THINK TANKS – or WAS HE MERELY A “WALKING STICK??????” i.e. to mean, the man just came along for the ride, THERE WAS REALLY NOTHING THERE or WAS SIMPLY A YES MAN & A…

For those that have met him & who know him, his pet thing, is to be the center of attention, he always takes over a conversation because he knows it all!! His opinions have no bounds, because ifwe bena CHITALA tuli ba FITALA!!!

The problem with “Fitala”, the world has changed so much right before his eyes – A true MARXIST, for whom CAPITALISM was ANATHEMA, however when MMD took over & he started enjoying the fruits of power, & THE MONEY THAT CAME WITH IT, he became drunk or confused with it – to make matters worse, he became sidelined by his own party (more like his baby)…

    • …(more like his baby) – I guess he wondered why! He then went on, as we all know, to discard his Christian name – this all after MMD declared the country a Christian country!! This is akin to “Muhammad Ali” changing his name, MHSRIP, Ali had a very good reason – it was a protest against how one race treated his race, BUT for FITALA – we are left to wonder – The man adorns SUITS with BOWTIES, SHARP TOED SHOES – dare I say BLING, I probably have to look closer, BUT SO TIGHT-FISTED FOR A MARXIST who REALLY WANTS TO LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD!! In Psychiatry, there is a term which comes to mind: “DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR”

    • I HAVE GOT NO WORDS. HOWEVER, THIS IS EXCELLENT OBSERVATION BY MBITA CHITALA. TRUE TO THE POINT WITHOUT LEAVING ANY STONE UN TURNED. IGNORE HIS ADVICE TO YOUR OWN PERIL. JUST IMAGINE, HOW CAN PEOPLE WITH THEIR BRAINS IN THE SKULL VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO MANIPULATED THE LIQUIDATION OF PUBLIC COMPANIES FOR HIS POCKETS. AND FURTHER, (BY DEFAULT), ELECT HIS DEPUTY WHO IS SO POPULAR WITH BRUTALLY BEATING UP HIS OWN WIFE HE SLEEPS WITH, HIS WORKERS AND (AS IF THAT’S NOT ENOUGH) SLAPPING A POOR AND HUMBLE MARKETEER. ZAMBIANS, PLEASE, THINK. IT IS NOT VERY DIFFICULT TO THINK AND VOTE WISELY TODAY. IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT WHEN THOSE TWO BULLIES, HH AND GBM START WEEPING YOU HANDS-DOWN IN THE NEW TWIST OF DICTATORSHIP.

    • WE SHALL FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS IN THESE ELECTIONS UNTIL OUR OWN, THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE HH GETS TO STATE HOUSE. VIVA HH VIVA! VIVA UPND VIVA!

    • maintaining PF is maintaining and sustaining inflationary pressure to the levels of failed Zim.

    • When you get involved in lies that lead to other peoples deaths or near death you get confused. Mbita lied about his then friend Dean and got him imprisoned. His gun was used to shoot Rose Mung’omba. He may have been acquitted as he is fond of saying, but people are not fools. Do the math. No one can trust Mbita Chitala.

    • The delivering of the Constitution by PF administration was not a FAVOR done to the Zambian people, as though we expected them to declare a non-constitutional government, or country. It was their DUTY to deliver it, not a favor to us. And you talk about “Global Economic Crisis”…Right now in 2016? Not that we’re aware of. The prices of copper may have slumped, but there’s no Global Economic Crisis today(2016), maybe in the future. You say, “Any attempt to change [government administration] now will destabilize our nation.” This is nothing but fear mongering. There are fights and riots during political rallies in Zambia, mainly because the political leaders are not coming out strongly to condemn violence, the president himself included. You say,” We must have zero tolerance…

    • (Continued) …policies against corruption.” Fine. ECL declared 10.9 million Kwacha worth of assets in 2015. He recently declared 23.7million Kwacha worth of assets, an increase of about 13million Kwacha, in just 15 months. Have you bothered to find out where he got the 13million Kwacha worth of assets from? You credit ECL for the great investments coming to Zambia…in mines. Have you ever heard of Vendata KCM and the damage they’ve caused to the Zambian environment, the Kafue river, and Mushishima stream, etc? Watch the videos on YouTube. And the sad thing is, no one in this administration is trying to hold them accountable. You say,”The current unregulated campaigns mean that whoever has money will win through massive bribery and vote buying.” Since you make a sweeping statement,…

    • (Continued)…and make no exceptions, it means you include PF too. Maybe this is the fight you need to focus on. Fight against bribery and vote buying. You make some very interesting points, some of which sound valuable. But to tie all these to the reason why you are endorsing ECL undermines your whole presentation. Why ? Because there’s no concrete evidence that ECL is working hard to tackle all these issues you raised, for instance fighting corruption. So the endorsement sounds like boot-licking, or flattery at best. And remember, not everyone who’s critical of ECL and his government is automatically supporting HH. HH has to prove himself worth of support too. So don’t just dismiss us as UNDP supporters. We’re independent thinkers.

    • Mbita betrayed his best friend Dean Mungomba (MHSRIP). You now want to betray the Zambian people also? PF is a failed project. We need people with a vision. Viva HH!

    • Mbita alias Derrick is a great disappointment for one that followed his versatility from university (UNZA) politics through formation of MMD and labelled ‘young turks’ and the various portfolios he has held! Mbita has reduced to a shadow of what was to non inspiring. I would rather he left sleeping dogs to lie and on reflection gather his versatile brilliant self to induct young upstarts in politics!

  2. “Veteran politician Mbita Chitala says removing President Edgar Lungu from office in the August elections will destabilise the nation”. Really? What does this guy do for a living? Because I don`t see how a serious company can employ such crap.

    • Derrick chitala wworks for unza as a lecturer, academician. He changed his name probably after he realised the f00lishness that is associated with africans carrying european names such as derrick. so after his enlightenment, he decided to give himself a name resonant with his people. hence mbita. However, the reasons given here as to why we should not change presidents lack credibility. i would expect an academician to give evidence to support his claims i.e countries in africa or corporations similar to the way zambia is run which have become unstable by changing presidents. There is no truth to what he is saying. atleast give us points that are relevant.

  3. zambians should ignore such mindset, lungu has maintained nearly all ministers /deputies who served under sata ,in my opinion its not about LUNGU but the pf policies are taking zambia backwards, embassies are being closed, and poverty level has worsened .

  4. Is this a Dr’s reasoning? In Zambia do people read books upside-down or upright – with such sinking!

  5. Kano nga ni mwebo nga chainama was used to hold a presser to celebrate the very finished fellow.
Everyone is factor for as long as they able to vote.

  6. My opinion is that Dr Chitala has never been useful in the politics of Zambia. Hope many people would recall when he used to be called by the other name. When he saw it was soiled he changed.
Groups such as that of Mr MMD chief bootlicker, Dr Chitala, Mr Kabwili, and alike, can say ouch, this will never go away! Because they think it is politically beneficial for them by praying on the lack of knowledge of the masses concerning privatization. If at all HH needs to be sanctioned, it hasn’t come forth yet, tells propriety.

  7. DR CHITALA YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE DELUSIONAL. WHAT GOOD HAS LUNGU AND PF DONE? ABSOLUTELY NONSENSE. UNO MWAKA NI VOTE WISE!!!!

    • The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, studied Chemical engineering at Beijing’s prestigious Tsinghua University. Yu Zhengsheng, the chairman of the Communist Party graduated from Harbin’s Military Engineering Institute specializing in the design of Automated Missiles. The Premier, Li Keqiang has a PhD in Economics , and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi, is a military and civil construction Engineer. Now ask yourself, what qualification does the potential Vice President GBM have?

    • @ Kolopa again.com
And with all this knowledge, Chinese dictatorship has been responsible for worst violations of human rights resulting in at least 40 million dead!!!
Do we wont thousands of dead to preserve well being of our “educated” (LOL) rulers?

    • When you get involved in lies that lead to other peoples deaths or near death you get confused. Mbita lied about his then friend Dean and got him imprisoned. 8. It is simple, if Dr Chitala is taking about economic destabilization, its already happened because of the late President Micheal Sata’s administration policies, MHSRIP, perceived to be exacerbated by President Lungu’s administration. For instance, current country’s debt is almost like the one under 27 years of Dr Kaunda’s administration. Obviously next generation will pay the debt created within a short period of the PF government. We all know once you a servicing such a huge debt you can growth the economy. Zambian should examine and vote for people who can grow the economy relying on less or no huge loans at all.

  10. Reasonable and mature assessment. The bitter herb present in UPND and its supporters are vomiting insults. Very immature way of approaching issues. Come August, you will “fish dry ones!”

  11. Who is this Doctor, PF is destablizing Zambia, the rule of law has been lost under Chagwa, I don’t know what this guy is smoking. I don’t care which party wins but not murderers PF who are supposed to face crimes related to murders. Wake up Chitala, you must be a disgrace you old man. can’t you see blood flooding the country from innocent Zambians?

  12. This is very true Dr.Mbita Chitala!!!we are together in supporting PF!!SURELY HOW CAN ONE THINK OF REMOVING A WORKING GOVNT LIKE PF FROM POWER?NEVER!!!PF HAA DONE WONDERS SINCE 2011!!!BITTER UPND CADRES CAN CONTINUE CRYING FOR TRIBAL CHANGE.WE CARELESS!!LET THEM VOTE HH TO RULE TONGALAND AND NIT ZAMBIA!!”UMUNTU NI LUNGU-2016!!GO PF GO!!

  13. Look at his lips ? you can see that Hiv Aids is now taking charge of his brain enhance endorsing Edgar chakolwa Hangover Kaloba Wrungu.

  14. So all those Dan pule, sakala, cosmo etal parties are not nondescript in chitala’s reasoning! This chap is really lost

  15. hmmmm,,,is ths guy a Dr sure or its Politics of berry perhaps. How in earth can he praise a failed PF government.

Sori Doct , u can’t convince me, try others.

  16. “Lungu has done an EXCELLENT JOB”???

That just shows this clown has no idea about what he is talking about.

If he thinks this situation PF has created in Zambia is “EXCELLENT” he is overdue for psychiatric evaluation!

    • Think before you talk! Dr. Chitala is just giving his view. Do not insult him because tomorrow you will remember his words. His PhD is not honourary, he read the books..Not like Mwaanga and others who are advising HH.

      Concerned Zambian Abroad

  17. Who is this Chitala? Why does he think right thinking Zambians would listen to his hogwash? Lungu and PF have ruined and destabilized Zambia. Under his misrule and mismanagement of the Zambian economy inflation is 21% p.a, unemployment very, violence has increased, thuggery on the increase, poor governance etc. Lungu and his visionless and clueless PF govt must be voted out.

  18. Iwe’ Mbita, Yaku nyonkhola njala zo- ona!!
Has Chagwa given you ka 20 pin to spew this garbage?
All the resources you plundered during your M.M.D, days of the Zamtrop scandal has surely evaporated.
Mbita! Mbita iwe’ ka belly spokesman, just go & die. Zambians are feeling the pinch, while your Chagwa gets richer than he ever imagined, & you are @ the bottom of his table, mouth wide open, hoping for crumbs.
Even better, why don’t you just marry The Godfather of Chawama, & get a bigger percentage of the crumbs, Kokoliko iwe’!!

  19. CHITALA IS A TRIBALIST, WE KNOW HIM VERY WELL. HE NEVER LOOKS AT POLICIES THAT A PARTY IS OFFERING AND THE CALIBRE OF THE PERSON ASPIRING TO BE THE PRESIDENT BUT ALL THE TIME IS ANTI UPND. HE IS SYNONYMOUS WITH THE BEHAVIOUR OF AKASHAMBATWA, VERY SOON HE WILL OPEN HIS MOUTH. WE KNOW THEM VERY WELL.

  20. Dr Mbita is absolutely correct. Only hopeless people really think a change will bring good tidings to Zambia. President Lungu’s return is a done deal.

  21. Viva Dr Chitala. Some of these so called die hards of the opposition seem to use their misula to reason and not the reality of majority zambians aspirations. They will collapse on 15 august

  22. Mbita Judas Chitala – this is the most discredited; unstable and dull ar.rse of a politician Zambia has ever produced!! Broke, with no meaningful or useful job to eke a living, he goes onto produce pure faeces in public like this.
This is the chap who betrayed and sold his best friend, Dean Mungomba, to Chiluba. Dean suffered immensely and died prematurely because this ar.se called Chitolwa.
Mbita has no brains and should be left where he best belongs – the archives!

  23. He might as have simply said we should not have election because EL has only been there for 12 months. What a waste of time writing a letter of endorsement. Anyway he is entitled to his opinions. I see it fit to change govt especially when they do not perform according to the expectations or the promises they make. PF has not done or performed well altogether apart from enriching themselves and their families. Chitala should be helping to revive MMD instead making trivial statements!

  24. Forget your fears of distabilization Bwana Chitala. In order to forge ahead Zambians need shock therapy and radical surgery to shake us off our comfort zone and our badly set ways of always “seaking the path of least resistance”.

Nothing good come easily -even diamonds have to undergo massive heating and enormous pressures to be the valuable stones that they are.

  25. Well put mr chitala. We actually dont need to experiment with pipo who ve never been in govt and thse who have been but abused their authority such as having a military escort when its not a preserve of a cabinet minister. I shudder to think how abused the power will be since you cant fire a vice president. My vote is definitely not with such a team

  26. This criminal Derrick Chitala killed Dean Mungomba and Paul Tembo. He thinks we have forgotten by his name change. He has no character at all and got bride money from late Tyrant Muammer Kadaffi to campaign for him as first President of United States of Africa. He was consequently dismissed from diplomatic service by a real President LPM.

  28. This guy stole our money thru pay tv and we r stuck with his decoders.can m’membe pls release the dossier about this guy Public n private life so that pipo can judge him

  29. What he forgot to mention is that he was part and parcel of the executives that sold those mines. And a contract to liquidate them was simply hired by them. He now comes and tells Zambians that there will be an opportune time to change leadership, where on earth did he become a Dr? This is the same argument Dora used to get her ministerial job, my guess is this guy too is hungry and desperately needs a job!

  30. What is wrong with just answering to the points that the man has raised instead of resorting to insults, rumour, innuendo and unprintables?
Debate his views and not his person. This insulting is what inflames passions that leads to violence because if you were in the same place and your identities were not hidden, it would not surprise me if you resorted to blows. Meanwhile, we blame illiteracy of the cadres, when even we are exhibiting the same sense of dullness.

Dr Chitala, you are also wrong in casting aspersions on HH’s source of wealth. GRZ paid him for consultancy and if GRZ did not think that he was worth it, it would have found someone else. There are lawyers who also become rich by taking up cases, or stealing clients’ money.

  31. During Edgar Lungu’s time:
    1. Inflation moved from 7% to 22%;
    2. Exchange rate moved from K6.5/US$ to K11/US$;
    3. GDP declined from 6.5% to 3.4%;
    4. Debt has increased from US$3.5bn to US$9.75bn;
    5. Deficit increased by 135%
An this guy is saying Lungu’s performance has been excellent? What does Chitala smoke? Chitala must be ignored completely! He is not normal!

    • Well said K Bwalya. me too I rate E Lungu and his PF on economic performance and there I find them seriously wanting.

    • All the development projects needed money. If PF had not borrowed, they would not have done what they did. No country can develop without borrowing. The man in the street does not eat a tarred road but he also does not care about deficits and national debt. Most Zambians do not even know what GDP is. All they care about is ‘take home pay.’ On 11 August 2016, they will vote on that.

  32. These PhD holders in zambia awe mwandini. Lungu gave us a flawed constitution that has left everyone confused including himself and Mbita is impressed. Anyway he’s seeking a job from an outgoing president thats my only comfort.

  33. He is saying the call to stop printing in Dubai is unsubstantiated ;what about the accusations about HH and privatisation, are they substantiated?Lets argue as well informed people.Let us endorse with convincing arguments and not slander.

    • “…Let us endorse with convincing arguments and not slander…”

      1. Was ECL found guilty by the High Court of Zambia on the charges of embezzlement? Yes or No?
      2. Was HH ever charged of any offence in relation to privatization? Yes or No?

  34. I feel so sorry for HH and GBM for the fact that they have lost the election before we even cast the vote.EL all the way…

  35. Mbita Chitala is a king maker, hence most of us are faking our way through life we pick only those battles we are sure to win only those adventures we are sure to handle. The Lungu/Winna team will unite our country than HH/GBM team with a lot of skeletons as HH has failed to provide answers from looting privatized state companies such as Luanshya copper mine and Inter-continental hotel in Livingstone. HH insulted Bowman Lusambo when he challenged him to tell the nation on his part of looting state companies.

    • @pio:
I totally agree with you that Mbita Judas Chitala is a King Maker for known criminals and thieves including Edgar Lungu! Mbita is a criminal and so is Lungu – the 2 go together!

  36. This Chitala fool has campaigned for PF two past elections when Sata won and died in the hope of getting a job but was only insulted and embarrassed together with his friend Mike Mulongoti these two have no shame and self pride at their age don’t they learn from past mistakes?

  37. I thought the man better understands what happened during privatisation for he was a deputy minister of finance. He grew up in the family of late Dr. Chuulu Kalima.

  38. I am a Muslim, Derrick mbita Chitala is like a piper, he pays the piper dictates the the song. Ba mbita Chitala was recalled by from Libya as zambia ‘s ambassador there when he started singing muamar khaddafi’ s imperialist, Arab Muslim imperialist song of the United States of Africa. As a scholar he never for once sat down to analyze the late Libyan leader’s agenda.
To me he is like a tree, when the wind blows South, North, East or west he will follow, the best for him to do is keep quiet. He has no constituent. What is his ideology? I close my case thanks

  39. Nobody is listening to you Mr finished turn coat, ba Bitter Chintala, ikaleni fye, you lack wisdom, character, facial appearance, I am sure your wife gets scared sometimes when she wakes up at night and asks: Nichi chani ici?

  40. People like Mbita despite their legacy contribution to multi party politics have lost! ECL since ascending to the Presidency has been Presidential. He has been a cadre (vigilante ) President always complaining and threatening his perceived adversaries. He has not provided leadership on critical policy issues of the economy and cadre violence. On the economy he is Chikwanda ‘s puppy…..just look where we are Mbita do you really want more of the same for five years?

  41. Derrick Chitala stood against the late Sata in kabwata during UNIP Era and lost. He worked under the corrupt Chiluba regime as deputy of Finance Minister and he was part of the regime which brought privatisation into Zambia. He cannot point fingers at others now. Why did he omit stating that Edgar and Inonge were once UPND members and are not original PF? Further we all saw the so called election of Edgar as PF candidate. It was by show of hands were even non PF members then like Frank Bwalya, George Chulumanda and others raised their hands to vote which is against the PF constitution which demands for a secret ballot. I would not ever send my child to be taught by such a Lecturer like Chitala. The PF constitution demands for one to be a member of the Central Committtee he/she should have…

  42. Ah, so this dick head thinks he’s still relevant. The most useless politician, bar Kambwili to have come from Zambia

  43. With friends like Derrick Bitter Chitala, who needs enemies? This is a chap who was Dean Mung’omba’s right hand man when thieves broke into Dean’s house and disembowelled his wife with a shot gun. When the police arrested the thieves and retrieved the firearm, it was all of a sudden discovered that the gun was registered under the name of no other than a fellow Mbala Mafia, Derrick Bitter Chitala. Levy appointed him as ambassador to Libya and instead of campaigning for Inonge to the the AU chief, the chap goes on a rampage insulting South Africa and Nigeria who promptly withdraw their support for Inonge’s candidature. Levy, that no nonsence son of the soil and MHSRIP, instantly fired the Bitter one! Si all those who has time to listen to this piece of garbage, go ahead, me I’m done…

  44. Lungu’s short presidncy hasben nothng short of a catastrophy! Now, Derrick Chitala is a rotten opportunist, if he was an animal he would be the ultimate hyena! Stupid is not one of his character traits. This support for Chagwa Aga ni mofunila nchito, the chap njala yamu nyokola! Some of you know the hunger ARVs spark n the stomach.
