President Edgar Lungu has challenged Alliance Motors Zambia, the official dealers of Land rover, Discovery, Range Rover and Jaguar brands in Zambia to consider establishing an assembly plant in Zambia.

President Lungu said Alliance Motors Zambia should consider setting up an assembly plant for their high end brand of vehicles in Zambia in the near future to target an existing market in the country.

President Lungu was speaking last evening when he officiated at the commissioning of an all new US$3.5 million Alliance Motors Zambia showroom along Great East Road.

At the new showroom, Alliance Motors will now be able to offer Zambians latest Jaguar motor vehicles such as the all-new jaguar f-paced.

“What we are witnessing today is a confirmation of what i believe that zambia is on its trajectory of rebounding economically. We are humbled by Tata Africa and indeed Jaguar Land rover for your confidence in our economy and for agreeing with us that Zambia is the best investment destination, as the current economic challenges will soon be a thing of the past,” President Lungu said.

He said the investment in the Zambian economy just confirms that there is a brighter future for zambia as the best destination for investment despite crusades orchestrated by some sections of the community and media aimed at discouraging foreign investment.

“My passionate appeal is to all investors who are still skeptical to emulate the partnership between globally renowned Tata group and jaguar land rover to come on board and join us. your delayed investment is denied profitability.

President Lungu said this timely investment includes a new building and commitment to quality job creation, as well as world-class skills development and training opportunities in the United Kingdom and South Africa, as Alliance Motors expands its business in the country.

President Lungu commended Tata Africa and Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa for investing in zambia and positively contribute to economic development and job creation for our people.

He said the private sector is the engine of economic growth adding that his government is doing everything possible is to create an environment that supports growth.

“In order for us to build a strong economy, diversification is key. this begins with identifying key productive sectors that can contribute to economic growth. We all know that currently the mining sector is the core sector of our economy and contributes significantly to government revenue and to the country’s foreign exchange earnings. Viability of this sector is dependent on external factors with global demand being the key factor,” President Lungu said.

President Lungu said currently commodity prices on the international market are depressed which has impacted negatively on revenue inflows and forex earnings.

He said mining is a diminishing activity and, therefore, cannot last forever saying his government’s role is to ensure that Zambia diversifies way from mining and develop other key sectors.

“I am delighted that what we are witnessing today integrates well with my government’s policies of economic diversification. Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, as I mentioned earlier, my government considers the private sector as an engine for economic growth and development. it is in this regard, that we are committed to providing a conducive environment for business to grow and prosper.”
He said to that effect, the PF government has embarked on programmes aimed at reducing the cost of doing business through the implementation of various business reforms.

President Lungu cited the industrialisation and job creation strategy which aims at transforming the industrial sector by creating more than one million formal jobs in five years.

In Zambia, Pilatus which owned the Land rover franchise when BMW owned Land rover lost the franchise Alliance Moors when Tata of India bought Jaguar Land rover UK and the patent company.

    • This is degrading …a whole president opening a car show room! Only in Zambia with a visionless leader like Edgar Lungu..Such activities are at best for the Mayor. And you wonder why we are poor

    • He really has become rich and thinks everybody is rich. Ndiye lack of vision really iyi. Start with tractors for production of food and then cars that every Jim and Jake can afford. next he will say Lamborghini and rolls royce plant.

    • If Mr Lungu was prime minister of Australia, he would get tired of commissioning car yards because there are many car yards. Imagin just the city i live there are more than 1000 car yards. Our office of the presidency has sink too low honestly. Opening a car yard sure????

    • It is a good idea though, but why not start with something affordable. something that zambians and our neighbours in sadc can buy. You assemble the cars and then have to export them to far off places because the sales are low in the region is a bad business investment. i dont think they would even consider it. But its worth a try. we need tractor and industrial machinery assembly plants instead. Good try bo Lungu though.

    • After all is said and done, which Zambian can affored a brand new Range Rover, other than the PF thugs and drunks who deep their hands in the state cofers. And this is exactly the reason they are clinging to power. And the whole head of state, opening a show room for a company…My Foot!!!!!!!…nangu twalicula sana awe mwe, the who president rubbing shoulders with a mere CEO???????????!!!!!!!!! Mukose pa Zed

    • Pa friday ndeisa mukunya in a flashable toilet. I have a white skin and i will bring washing soap made in england. Mr. President you are invited to come and officiate kaili tamwakwata ifyakuchita.

    • The level of Lungu`s clueless is embarrassing. How does he ask an auto dealer to open an auto assembly plant as if he is the manufacturer? Sad.

    • Chimbala your points are too high end, for PF who only think in quantum or blocks as they cannot connect the dots.

    • Chakolwa Chagwa does not realize that the only people driving Range Rovers and Jaguars are his fellow Eurobond looters.

    • WHAT IS DEGRADING ABOUT THIS MWENKOKO IMWE. ZAMBIA IS NOT A RICH INDUSTRIALISED COUNTRY. WHAT MAY BE SMALL IN THE U.S. OR SOUTH AFRICA MAY BE BIG IN ZAMBIA. EVERY CONCEPT OR PRODUCT IS RELATIVE TO THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH IT IS RESIDING. HENCE COMMISSIONING SALES GARAGE OF JAGUAR AND LAND ROVER MOTORS IS RELATIVELY A BIG THING IN ZAMBIA WHICH MAY EVEN ATTRACT THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT. SOME OF YOU JUST BARK FROM OUTSIDE. WHY NOT GO TO ZAMBIA AND MAKE THINGS BETTER? MWILABOSA BOSA FYE KUNSE YACALO MWEMBUTUSHI. LET THE ZAMBIANS IN ZAMBIA COMMENT ON SUCH DEVELOPMENTS.

  1. Am still half and half on this one. Question is if they opened plants in Zambia, have they done all the studies on where to export all these high end or expensive vehicles to. We all know that 90% of our people can’t afford to buy these vehicles if they can’t even put 3 meals on the table

    • This is where Lungu business imusoba. This is just a dealership. Dealership do not manufacture/Assemble vehicles. Should not compare with Toyota; it is not a dealership. Rather, it is a manufacturer with an outlet in Zambia.

On a serious note, people who are big on transforming the economy must be thinking about setting up manufacturing plants for capital equipment. Simple economics: Production possibilities frontier

  2. Looks like the Brits are coming back once again. Indeed a Tractor Plant and/or some machinery that are relevant to mining activities, Electricity generating Equipment like Solar powered panels are a better option that those expensive Jaguars that will only be bought and driven by the corrupt elite hiding in Politics. What’s happened to our so-called Engineers who should be in the fore-front advising leaders in Government mwebantu? Can you imagine a latest Jaguar on those Kanyama/George Compound roads?

    • SORRY Nkope, you seem to be living in some time -warp — The British, have NOTHING TO DO WITH JLR, apart from it being an Engish name!!!

That is the problem with chakolwa & his former ministers, they wake up one day, dream JLR should come & set up a plant, he thinks they are as IRRESPONSIBLE as he is & will jump at such a crazy idea, ehhhh!!
The ONLY REASON THEY ARE HERE IS TO KOLOPA THE MONEY THAT HE & HIS GANG OF THIEVES HAVE STOLEN!!!

Vote WISELY 11/8/2016!! Vote ZAMBIA FORWARD!! VOTE FOR A PARTY WITH A VISION!! VOTE UPND!!

      #chagwamustfall!! #PamaFikuyabebele!!

      I thank you!!

    • Land Rover and Jaguar are not owned by any British company..TATA bought it off from FORD so nothing whatsoever to do with the Brits

    • @UNPD cadres,

The President did not invite himself for the commissioning. He was invited and took up the invitation. So, please spare us your pettiness of always looking for something negative to say about our President.

    • @ zedoc

Please enlighten us on ONE POSITIVE action (not electioneering blabbing) done by our “anointed”, “humble” and “vise” President?

Just ONE POSITIVE action done by him?

    • HH has really infected his cadres with the disease of pettiness. I did not realize it could be as contagious among UPND cadres as denkete.

  3. Only someone with 23 billion no rebased can buy these cars..! Why don’t we lure Japanese tractor manufacturers…even Toyota! Jaguar baba ni patali!

  4. Uku nduye ku pusa ngako mwana wa kwitu! These cars are some of the most expensive cars in the world and the worst in fuel consumption, how would an economy so small and characterized by hyper galloping inflation and high levels of unemployment be able to sustain the plant if it were se up here in Zambia? You can really see from what he says that the man has no clue about investment ventures that can grow the economy. The next thing you will hear is that he wants Jameson Irish Whiskey to set up a plant in Chawama.

  5. Pa Zed Zoona i remember laughing my ass off in 2004 when the entire president of Zambia levy mwanawasa opened the first bowling alley at acades, i was so embarrassed while I was abroad ,now at it again, entire president Lungu opening a car show room of a private company. This is below the president, soon he will be opening the newly toilets at some private company

  6. Haters and nay sayers. We used to have a Land Rover assembly plant a few decades back. You aim low, that’s the problem. We in PF are ambitious. Aim high and you will succeed like us in the PF

    • 1MBECILE, you are aiming high?
      Good.
Does High Court cause for looting Treasury suffice for you? Or High Court guilty verdict for EMBEZZLEMENT of client money?

    • #Kudos. You are very correct on the need to be ambitious. And I also agree with ECL’s desire to have serious investments in Zambia.

    • There are a lot of them on Zambian roads – you think these businessmen did not do their research like you?

  7. Under 5s just ask Kaponya (HH) to explain to your UPND stakeholders why:

    1. You’ve never held a democratic internal election in UPND since 2006
    2. You appointed Gender Based Molester as your Running mate using tribal reasoning
    3. You claim to be rich yet you have embarrassed your 2nd in Command Canicius Banda by eviction from PHI
    4. You campaign on sanctified days instead of resting
    5. You can’t pronounce our local staple food in vernacular
    6. You want to continue being UPND President after your 20 years in opposition since 1997
    7. You have allowed the Cartel to impose itself on UPND
    8. You have embraced Mmembe who called you a Bantu stan
    9. You belittle the Republican President we Zambians democratically elected
    10. You have an unsaleable 10-point plan

    Sonta po!

    • To say “you hate HH with a passion” would be a gross understatement. It’s such a pity because you are expending so much of your valuable energy in hate. For your own sake, you may need to moderate your passion.

  8. Really laughable…this Lazy Bum is truly drunk he visits a showroom he thinks the brits will close factories in England and lose blue collar £30k jobs to open factory in Zambia for Zambians!!

    • The company IS NOT BRITISH!!! IT IS AN INDIAN OWNED COMPANY!! YES JAGUAR LAND ROVER IS INDIAN!!!

Vote WISELY 11/8/2016!! Vote ZAMBIA FORWARD!! Abantu baya!!

      #Chagwamustfall!! #PamaFikuyabebele!!

      I thank you!!

    • I know its owned by Tata but its factories are in England where everything is manufactured and to maintain its brand. I have a friend who works there and these are the most sort after blue collar jobs. Its simply not cost effective to set up a plant inland in Zambia

  9. With all the challenges the country is facing, EL is pondering driving Jaguars and Land Rovers really! Where are the priorities in this country? How many people will even afford those cars when they are languishing in abject poverty. We should instead looking for investors in education and healthcare sectors. As a country we should be looking at primary things that would improve the lives of the majority sufferers!

    • That how thieves who have never worked for their think…you would see Bill Gates or Dangota wasting time with such liabilities.

    • *That is how thieves who have never worked for their money think…you would not see Bill Gates or Dangota wasting time with such liabilities.

  10. We may wonder why the whole lot of a President could go and commission a show room! But again we should also look at the message he has delivered. He is looking at bigger things… an assembly plant but such things may start with smaller efforts like a show room. However,it may take time especially if there is a production base in South Africa, may prefer to bring already assembled cars for sale.We should remember that we are now entering the tripartite free trade area (COMESA,EAC & SADC )so markets are growing!!Parts may be produced in S.Africa, assembled in Zambia or vice versa an then sold to other countries! Tractor assembly plant? Yes it may come,it is private capital,it has its way of looking where to make a return,at some point EIZ submitted such proposals to Lungu when he just…

  11. I think our president should be advised on how to prioritize issues. How can the entire head of state officiate at the commissioning of such expensive vehicles in the country when the majority of its population are wallowing in Poverty. A Minister or someone else should have been assigned to do the job.

  12. Nothing wrong in the president opening this showroom and for those of you suggesting that the president should have called for setting up of a tractor plant, you are right except the president was not officiating at a tractor showroom nor was this a John Dealer function. As for the argument that not many people can afford these cars, that too is true but Zambia produces copper and how much of it is consumed locally? I bet less that 5%. Let us not judge everything by the person saying it or through personal political spectrum but let’s add some objectivity to it without partisan interests. Somebody suggested that some polish company should/will set up an aircraft assembly/manufacturing plant, did anybody say but who will buy the planes? Any plant in this country creates employment,…

    • @19,Pakudya..My thoughts too! We should start looking at things a bit differently? Who knows? Some rich from within Zambia and neighboring countries may just come choose to buy these cars from Lusaka than have them shipped all the way from wherever they are made! Development is incremental,Lungu has already told them what his wish is..an Assembly plant which is a bigger thing. When there is a business case, they may even set up a plant to manufacture some components in Zambia. Others may come and set up Tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturing plants – it may take time but all we need is to work towards becoming a preferred investment destination. When Parmalat took over DPB,they started only by selling fresh milk, a bit of Ice cream and yoghurt but a few ago, they added a powdered…

    • Production costs drive enterprise. If you are going to import parts to assemble cars in Zambia, then a GBP 60,000 Range Rover will cost a lot more. Zambia doesn’t have a steel plant, so you are looking about importing everything that is required to build these cars. The logic in that really escapes me. As for the argument of copper, really??? are you going to compare a raw material extracted locally to a finished product that requires us to import everything to build?

    • A normal thinking patriot of africa will not even think of buying these vehicles no matter how rich they are. Power is in the money. if you want black power to emerge, you need to keep your money in local circulation. A revolutionary and progressive leader should be able to see this. So these rich people in zambia, mostly thieves from govt steal from the poor zambian tax payer and then taken that little money and put it in the hands of a white man. what kind of thinkin is this? when in fact they should be investing in buying machinery to start a guava juice and jam processing plant. But because of the damage done to you, you always heed the masters call to take the little you have to the white man. kwena we are damaged. its the same as marrying a white after being educated by the zambian…

  13. Any plant in this country creates employment, increases GRZ revenue base through tax and broadens local engineer’s knowledge base…nothing to do with who will buy. How many cars are in Zambia today and how many of those were manufactured locally? Don’t argue that there is no market, who told you? This is a private company who will do their due diligence and the fact that the majority cannot afford does not mean no one can afford and to add to it Zambia is a landlinked country surrounded by potential market. This kind of reasoning is what has left Africa poor because we condemn everything without thinking based on who is saying it and when government changes the new guys won’t carry on with the good they condemned for fear of being themselves condemned for having condemned the ideas in the…

  14. This kind of reasoning is what has left Africa poor because we condemn everything without thinking based on who is saying it and when government changes the new guys won’t carry on with the good they condemned for fear of being themselves condemned for having condemned the ideas in the first place and it is a cycle. This is terrible or maybe it’s just the quality of bloggers.

  15. NICE TO SEE MR LUNGU SEEMS TO BE RECOVERING. GOOD FOR YOU MR LUNGU. REST IS A GOOD THING. LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR’S ADVICE. ONCE AGAIN LUNGU HAS TIME TO VISIT OR TOUR AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT MEANS NOTHING TO THE MAJORITY OF ZAMBIAN PEOPLE YET HE WON’T FIND TIME TO VISIT UTH!!! I THINK ALL HEALTH PERSONAL SHOULD SIGN A PETITION AND DELIVER IT TO STATEHOUSE DEMANDING THAT LUNGU SHOULD VISIT UTH AND SEE THE CONDITIONS THEY WORK UNDER.
” LUNGU VISIT UTH PETITION AND MOVEMENT”!!!!!

  16. There used to be a Fiat Plant in Livingstone, Zambia, what happened to it? That Plant made cars for the lower and middle income earners. Lungu with his newly acquired status of a millionaire he now wants Plants for Land Rovers and Jaguar cars. Is there a serious market for such expensive and vintage cars in Zambia?Lungu is not think of assembling tractors, buses and small cars? His priorities are just upside down in an Agricutural country like Zambia. A whole President opening a car showroom? This is devaluing the state Presidency. Lungu should delegate such trading matters to Ministers or officials.

    • @Scotty
In case you have not been following the news of late, Fiat have already expressed interest in coming back to assemble their vehicles again in Zambia. As some reasonable Zambians have said on this site, having motor vehicle assembly plants here creates jobs and a market for these cars not only in Zambia but also in the region. It also does help create competition among suppliers of cars which may help bring down the prices of brand new cars in the long term. For instance, VW has also started supplying brand new vehicles to our market and many other car brands are likely to follow, a sign of growing confidence in our economy which may later see even a tractor franchise being opened up. There are already suppliers of brand new light trucks that have set up base here. But no one is…

  17. ! diots can never say any good things about pf. The good thing is that they are losing again and bitterness will continue for them while tulepota.

    • Surely you think a car assembly is like assembling simple radios…where is the market for such..do you know how many people depend on these jobs in England? Lazy Lungu is dreaming just like he did when he visited France where he was talking about purchasing Airbuses. How can a President be opening a showroom for luxury cars which will be purchased by thieves like himself who are millionaires within 12 month of getting in office.

    • @ # 24

1mbecile, we cannot manufacture toothpicks and you are talking about assembling luxury cars? What is positive in PF? Hunger? Thuggery? Institutionalized corruption? Grand theft?

  18. Looks like chakolwa lungu wants to be buy these expensive cars before his exit after August 11. VIVA HH 2016

  19. Zambia’s Hakainde Hichilema, president of the United Party for National Development (UPND), is a Freemason. Hichilema is a leading member of the Eagle Lodge #7232 part of the District Grand Lodge of Zambia (English Constitution) which is placed under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England

    • i have asked so many time here on this blog. what is a freemason and what is it that they do that you hate? Tell us, so many people join different associations and clubs. kwali kale lyons club, rotary something etc. what is it that you dont like about freemasons. show us also so that we hate it pamo naimwe!!!

  20. This is an excellent idea from the head of state, we as pf we understand that without government firms in the mixed economy capitalists will take advantage to over charge(exploit) our people. It is for this reason the pf under the leadership of his excellence Mr Edger C Lungu we will make sure we start all parastatal companies that we lost during Chiluba’s regim. Thats why u are hearing of solermill plants, national buses to start running, Zambia airways and now he has come up with a brilliant idea for us the people of Z. What an intelligent president he is, may God keep u and give u many years to dress mother zambia. That is the pf way, to create a better Zambia from today until the kingdom come.

    • A car show room ati a ‘ brilliant idea’

As for an assembly plant, that is PF wet dreams. Do you think the south Africans would allow their jobs to come to zambia ?

But these PF kaponyas are indeed hopless dreamers.

  21. More of such brilliant ideas are needed in the country, that is the only time our eagle will fly high. Fly it higher Edie, fly it higher and higher to shame the negativity of your opposers, let everyone shout louder pabwatooooooo naba Edie!

  22. I agree with him but he is challenging the wrong people. He should be challenging his cabinet and Zambia’s engineers to come up with such vehicles. Why do we have universities and governments?

  23. I now understand why someone made an impromptu visit at ZNBC in a Range Rover. Was probably a gift and he needed to test ride it as it is unusual to have such vehicles on the presidential motorcade. coming to think of it, such a building housing the show room can’t cost $3.5m- I suspect there is an over estimate in investment pledges with ZDA so that such firms can get a higher tax rebate once the investment license is issued coz Zambia being the way we are, no correlation follow-up is made between what is pledged and the actual invested.

  24. Good idea EDGAR

We love you. We will not vote for freemansons. Twakana. Zambia is a Christian nation and not a freemanson nation

    • When they slept they see HH , when they eat they see HH, when they read they see HH when they try to write anything they write HH. when they look at their partners they see HH.

    • You`re as clueless as your President Lungu, dealers don`t manufacture cars, they only sell.

  25. is this man joking or is he teaching small boys how to make cars v hade fait what has happen to v had landrover v hav toyota what happen to it all were there noe u have brought these thives to steal more of what is left

  26. its not a matter of you wanting an assembly plant sir, its about you creating the best investment platform to attract such a large scale investment. Inconsistent policies, unstable currency and high cost of doing business is what is prevailing under your administration sir. Hence most of these companies opting for South Africa because it offers all of the aforesaid or a better deal.

  27. The cars will assembled in zambia but exported to DRC other countries without such assembly plants also we want to protect our children from dying in altezzas from japan which are at times not road worthy. As for afforadability we looking to create a middle class lease financing will fill the gap thats how europe works

    • Lease financing with no credit history database…you do not even have contract phones and you talking about prestigious vehicles!!

  28. Laughable for sure. A president opening a car yard show room. we have had new car yard show rooms here and no premier or state governor was invited to open it. these are not projects for the president to open. what Lungu should be telling Zambian unit and engineers is to get Zambian to develop a jam car for the poor and ban the importation of second hand cars in Zambia. the MD is from SA and you think they can have an assembly plant here than SA? keep dreaming.

  29. thats the way to go my presido…viva progressive moves viva!

  30. leadership come from God and whether you like Edgar or not if GOD is declared in Heaven nothing can change. He is the who put up Kings and removes Kings and one should acknowledge that JESUS is Lord. Are you born again by accepting Jesus as your personal saviour. Do you acknowledge within your heart that JESUS is Lord as it is written in Roman 8:16″that the Spirit of GOD testifies with our spirits that we are children of GOD”. Do you have this testimony within yourself.

    • You f00ls with that religion. So when Hitler was the leader of germany, it was God that put him there? Well, it should be since God chooses leaders. what make you think that God has anything to do with KK, Levy <fred, Edgar etc. Take responsiblity and get off your a.s.s and make wise decisions. God has already given you brains to think and make good decisions. You make me sick with such retarded ignorant comments, you just boil the blood under my skin. Busy worshiping Gods brought to you by foreigners and you busy worshiping them on sundays instead of working and worshiping your own gods. All peoples of the planet worship Gods that look like them. Asia, buddha looks like them, krishna like indians, allah and mohamed like the arabs, whites the white jesus.africans?

  31. What’s the market in Zambia for these obscenely expensive luxury vehicles? The president, the entitled elite, and their families? Atase

  32. Z has many brilliant minds kanshi these days. Blogger No. 1, u nailed it – lorries & trucks is what zambians need (if they can afford them). Range rover, jag etc r a sign of achievement, not fo work. So EL, even if i wil vote fo u, this is not a priority fo striving zambians. KK had leyland assembly plants. We need Hino or UD trucks, not efi.

  33. Asking a dealership to set up an assembly plant is like asking a milkman to bottle milk. Dealerships are sales outlets and not in the business of manufacturing and are owned by different people.

  34. The level of Lungu`s clueless is embarrassing. How does he ask an auto dealer to open an auto assembly plant as if he is the manufacturer? Sad.

  35. Zambians mentality of poverty and greedy that’s why simulemeli, always criticizing, manchito ni 12hrs you cant even save for ticket to Zeb amambala gives a break let Lungu do his work

  36. Zambia was topping a list in buying second hand vehicles from Japan because 80% of Zambians cannot afford to buy new cars. These car yards are for a few rich.

  37. @Chimbala said it in the first comment a agree. We have no resources, skilled labour so how are we to facilitate such a plant? President Edgar Changwa Lungu can wish all he can but this is not feasible. Unless he gives up his stolen money, grabs Chishimba Kambwili’s stolen money to RB and his son, Mulenga Sata and all the money stolen by Frederick Chiluba combined then we are capable pf doing it. If they could only stop the corruption and realize the money they are pocketing away is mean for these projects and we can compete on the global market like developed countries.

  38. It is embarrassing to have such a dull president. Doesn’t he know those cars are assembled in South Africa already and have come to get the few dollars remaining in the country? Dealers are just sellers and dont manufacture anything. It is like asking Hazida to start Manufacturing Samsung products in Zambia.

Tata, Rover Zambia and Dunlop are some of the companies that relocated to South Africa or Zimbabwe after failing to get forex for their businesses when Kk introduced weelky foreign exchange auctions. Those that remained including parastatals were allowed to fold up or sold under FTJ.

  39. am very surprised that some foolish thinking people cant appreciate this, when the president commissions a mall u do appreciate because of food which will be sold there, but when he does greater things like this it hurts you, Good move ECL – our brothers will get some jobs there and acquire latest skills…….

  40. And you think you have a brilliant president, one who opens every little private thing. How can a dealership set up an assembly plant in Zambia? Laughable!

  41. An agricultural equipment plant perhaps Mr President…luxury cars are good but only after we have dealt with the widespread poverty!

  42. How many of you have an idea of how much the range rover costs today? I went to the Lusaka motors show at levy mall last month (may) The range rover sport was going at $200,000 and the Jaguar was costing $100,000 at the exchange rate of k11/$ Then yesterday Vehicle Center Ltd unveiled the new ford mustang V8 at $110,000 @11. Can someone honestly tell me how many Zambians can afford such vehicles today apart from politicians and government who buy them without duty. For once think outside your party affiliation and look at the bigger good Zambians.

  43. What about civil servants and pay rise? We want the cost of living to come down – CUT MEALIE MEAL PRICES…! Luxury goods can wait..! To create jobs, Zambia needs manufacturing factories – such as:
    Food processing factories
Medical equipment and surgerical instruments and dental care. Eye clinics and medicines
We need children hospitals in each town – STOP Malnutrition and Poverty and hunger in all Zambia
Build food reserves and shops with cheaper goods
Agricultural sector needs a massive revamp – HELP FARMERS – DIVERSE IN CROP HUSBANDRY AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Build Food canning industries in all towns and cities and village.
Build Food drying industries to preverse food and cut down on waste. Billions of dollars is lost in Zambian farm products which go to waste every year – make…

  44. At least during KK’s administration there was Livingstone motor assembly, blanket factory, bicycle industries to mention but a few. There was quite a number of industries in KK’s time. No wonder a grade 12 school leaver straight from school was able to find a “good job” with just a grade 12 certificate.

  45. Some people in Zambia have worked hard and can afford these cars, if you and your family cant afford sela
    twensheko ama gila aya chikata!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. Yawn!
A year later, I return to this forum and we’re still worshiping poverty.

Do we have roads to drive these cars on?

We can’t even make toothpicks and you want to assemble Jags.
