Zambia make roaring start at Cosafa U17 Cup

Zambia Under-17 have made a roaring start to their Cosafa U17 Cup title defence in Mauritius following a an opening day win over Kenya.

Zambia beat Kenya 4-0 to go top of Group B in Port Louis on Friday.

A brace from Zesco Victoria Falls FC striker Nicholas Mulilo in the first half handed Zambia their resounding victory.

Mulilo found the target in the opening quarter in the 4th and 13th minutes and could have added a third in the 30th minute but Kenya goalkeeper George Ouma reacted quickly to deny him a hat-trick.

The Young Zanaco duo of striker Damiano Kola and midfielder Kunda Nkandu completed the rout in the 37th and 42nd minutes respectively.

Zambia face second placed Malawi on July 24 in their penultimate Group B match.

Ten-man Malawi rallied to beat Madagascar 2-1 in the second Group B match on the same date when Henry Chiwaya was sent off in the 67th minute with the sides locked at 1-1 before Frank Chizuze stoppage time winner handed them the three points.
