THE support for President Edgar Lungu should not be misconstrued as tribal because his endorsement is based the belief that the Head of State should be given his own mandate to complete his developmental agenda, Paramoubnt Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has said.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni and Chief Chanje of the Chewa-speaking people in Chipata have clarified that the endorsement of President Lungu and the Patriotic Front (PF) should not be mistaken to be tribal.

The two traditional leaders said the endorsing of President Lungu was purely based on their strong belief that the ruling party should be given another mandate to continue its developmental agenda.

Speaking when Eastern Province PF campaign committee member, Mr Lameck Mangani paid a courtesy call on him at his palace, Chief Mpezeni said that President Lungu was like a new vehicle which does not require servicing a few days after it is bought.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni said President Lungu needed to be given more time to continue

with his developmental programmes he had embarked on and warned that a change of the country’s leadership would see some of the developmental projects abandoned.

The Paramount Chief Mpezeni said he was able to see developmental activities across his chiefdom and other parts of the country and that there was no need to start changing government leadership just for the sake of it.

The traditional leader said there was need for Zambians to give the PF and President Lungu more time to develop this country because the Head of State had demonstrated a true desire and dedication to improve the lives of citizens.

“President Lungu is like a brand new motor vehicle and no one buys a new car and immediately begins servicing it. Our endorsing of President Lungu is not based on the miscued notion of tribe but purely on the basis that there is need for continuity. We cannot be changing the country’s leadership for the sake of it.

We have developmental programmes that are being implemented and if there was change of leadership, there is a danger that some projects could be abandoned,” Paramount Chief Mpezeni said.

He said everybody should rally behind the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and President Edgar Lungu because of the massive development that had been undertaken in the last five year.

And Chief Chanje assured Mr. Mangani of President Lungu’s victory and urged the ruling party not to get worried because people in Chipangali constituency were behind the ruling party.

Chief Chanje also told Mr. Mangani during a courtesy call paid on him that the message on the referendum was well received and people were ready to vote ‘YES’.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mangani appealed to the two traditional leaders to help disseminate information to their subjects about the importance of voting in an election.

  1. Ati can’t change for the sake of it……

    Inflation @ 22% from 7%
    Meali meal @ zmk 90 from 35
Lungus bank balance @ $2.3 million from 0 last year.
    Jobs @ -30 000 after lungu promised 500,000
Political violence and intimidation and harassment of citizens by PF thugs in markets and bus stations as never seen before…..

    • It is interesting that Mpezeni issued this statement with a junior chief Chanje and not Gawa. For a very good reason chiefs like pastors must stay clear of political endorsements.
Why should you keep a new car when it seems to be consuming more fuel than it should? After all even a new car can be defective and recalled.
Can you imagine the resentment among the many UPND supporters in the chiefdom?

    • JUST KEEP YOUR SMELLING MOUTH CLOSED. DON’T TAKE US FOR F00LS BWANA CHIEF. WE ARE MORE ENLIGHTENED THAN YOU AND LUNGU. YOU ARE JUST AN EMBARRASSMENT. WHAT PROJECTS HAS YOUR LUNGU EMBARKED ON? READ THE 2030 VISION OF THE VISIONARY LEADER PRESIDENT MWANAWASA, YOU WILL FIND ALL THE PROGRAMMES BEING IMPLEMETED THERE. EVEN THE NEXT PRESIDENT WILL CONTINUE FROM WHERE LUNGU WILL END. ONE IMPORTANT POINT THAT SHOULD BE APPRECIATED IS THAT AT ANY GIVEN TIME THERE WILL ALWAYS BE WORK IN PROGRESS. EVEN IN 2021 THERE WILL STILL BE UNFINISHED BUSINESS. NATIONAL LEADERSHIP IS LIKE RELAY MARATHON. BA LUNGU KUYA BEBELE UNO MWAKA. 11/8 LUNGU ZWAAAA…..

    • I started reading this & I was trying my best to remain interested. Then I stopped and asked myself, when did my life become so miserable that I have to waste it reading this known sense? Forget it, is this the paramount chief? Compare this with the material that paramount chitimukulu puts out, the intellectual depth, the bread of understanding, knowledge and the analytical skills employed! Nobody could possibly be expected to be wasting their life, however sad & miserable, reading this sort of tosh. Forget it.

    • “Paramount Chief Mpezeni said President Lungu needed to be given more time…
…and warned that a change of the country’s leadership would see some of the developmental projects abandoned.”
THIS IS VERY TRUE, IF GIVEN CHANCE TO A NEW SET OF LEADERSHIP, THE NEW GOVERNMENT WILL OBVIOUSLY COME TO ABANDON ALL THE DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS GOING ON NOW. THAT’S HOW AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS WORK AND THAT’S WHY AFRICA NEVER RECORDS ANY MEANINGFUL DEVELOPMENT. IN ZAMBIA IT IS ONLY PF WHICH HAS SHOWN THAT DIFFERENCE. THEY EVEN CONTINUED WHAT MMD STARTED OR NEVER STARTED ON TOP OF THEIR OWN PROJECTS.

    • Hehehehe if it’s not tribal then it’s financial bwana Chief who ever you are are so delusional from the amount of ARVs you take that you have even in the slightest forgotten even the teargassing you were subjected to your abuse of little girls and women in your chiefdom indeed makes you the best Chief to endorse Lungu

    • THIS CHIEF IS A CRAZY CHIEF. WEE ARE FULLY AWARE THAT YOU RECEIVED KICK-BACKS BABA. YOU ALONE WANT LUNGU TO CONTINUE WITH PLUNDER. YOU WANT LUNGU TO CONTINUE ENRICHING HIMSELF AND HIS MINIONS AROUND HIM. WHERE DID LUNGU GET THE 23 MILLION IN JUST ONE YEAR? WHY ARE WE SO BLIND AS ZAMBIANS? WHY SHOULD WE CHEER FOR SOMEONE WHO IS EATING ALONE WHILE WE WATCH ON EMPTY STOMACHS? ALL ZAMBIANS SHOULD UNITE OUR VOTES AND VOTE FOR CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT. VOTE FOR HH AND THE UPND TEAM.

  2. This chief has no shame whatsoever issuing such political statements…so what happens when Lungu loses? You wonder why ethic wars are created; you will never see the Lozi King or Bemba Paramount Chief embarrassing their tribe in this manner.
Mpezeni just shut up enjoy your Powers gin and Teenage girls!!

    • Working doing what? Borrowing money at high interest rates for overpriced projects so they can get kickbacks, any **** can do that….development is more than just construction; its about Good Governance, exercising prudence in Public spending etc.
There are no tangible policies or road map its merely reckless spending with this Lazy Bum Edgar…most Zambians do not understand how the Global credit works ask your mothers and fathers about IMF’s SAP…

  3. We know tribalism only exists in Kalusa’s voters. Even a dog wearing UPND attire they will vote. Wait till we pay you back Nega-Nega style you Under 5 cretins.

Kaponya (HH) will die from shock on August 12th.

    • ….At long last, you have now got the message from Chawama in that sh.it skull head that PF are going and you are now panicking, packing and insulting! Mother fu.ckers!!

    • You remind me of were blacks believe they can never be racists…… in Zambia the Bembas believe the same Sata had a horde of his tribe mates in Government but for some reason was never branded a tribalist… He was top most in government during privatisation of state companies but for some screwed up reasons he is squeaky clean in all accusations

  4. What Chief Mpezeni seems to miss, is that we need someone who need to bring to a stop the deteriorating living standards. Chief Mpezeni seems to be blindfolded with those infrastructure projects, without understanding at what cost. We need a REVIEW and REFOCUS on what project are critical, but at this point, all I hear is continuation of those projects without refocus. A few individual are benefiting massively from those projects, while masses including Chief Mpezeni`s followers have 1 meal per day and they don`t drink clean water. That is the type of thing we are talking about.
Can Mr. ECL do the review and refocus? Nope, he said he wants to continue with Mr. Sata `s vision. Economically, Mr. Sata vision is no longer viable, hence the call for new leadership. SIMPLE

    • @ general Kanene IT IS THE ZAMBIAN VOTERS WHO WILL SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES WHAT THEY WANT. YES WE MAY BE SUFFERING NOW. BUT WHAT WE ARE SAYING IS THAT HH IS NOT THE PERSON WE WANT TO COME AND SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS BECAUSE WE DO’NT SEE IN HIM ANY SUCH CALIBER, APART FROM PRIDE AND ARROGANCE. LUNGU IS MORE POISED TO ADDRESS OUR PROBLEMS THAN HH. WE DONT HATE HH. WE DONT JUST THINK HE IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB. WE WILL SAY THIS MUCH MORE LOUDLY ON 11/08/2016.

    • Chisenga
Ati “WE” are you sure speak for yourself.I do not like these degenerates who have nothing to offer.Even their campaign messages are a shame. How do you ask HH to “sonta”.What did chakolwa have to sonta before he became president? His tavern and car park in Chawama?Even what he is sontaling at are the reasons why we are suffering.Unplanned and unbudgeted for developments which are also overpriced?Everything being equal chakolwa should just go back to Chawama.

  5. Yeah! the young man has performed exceptionally well amid unprecedented unfavourable international economical indicators dictated by the furious tumbling of commodity economies world over. The incoming new deal PF government will implement holistically studied measures analysed to usher in a diversified supported economy aimed at transforming Zambia into a near Japan economy. Viva ECL! Mwana mubotu!

  6. A mfumu ungoni muleke…. why cant you be like Gawa Undi. Some of your subjects are PF others are UPND,FDD and so on. Why cant you keep your support to your self?

  7. As vulgar as the ZWD and its disciples are, so is their demi god Kalusa- the man cant even afford a smile- he is a hot aired goon, arrogant, pompous, self centered, inadvisable fela, know it all character bent on becoming Zambia”s own dictator! Alas, he”s now panting a distant out from the touch line, his eyes growing like red coals and furious at his eminent loss, throwing tantrums at anyone and gnashing his teeth for the losses incured, his mind going beserk as he imagines how the people he is owing will harangue him for raising false hopes, oh and The Past news paper”ll not be able to cover his hefty fall, despite pouring in millions!Farewell Kalusa, for thy time has come for thee to retire!

    • The agony of being PF is….

You see HH in everything you read or do, even when you look at your wife all you see is HH……

    • Even when they speak or write well PF 1diots are shallow.Just go through Huck Finns spost again and you will see that the 1diot s messahage is nonsense.Bwana Huck Finn just prepare yourself for reality.Edgar has nothing to offer. He has even failed to sell himself.Pipo are attending his rallies for free vitenges and T shirts, when they go back home they face reality. If RB who performed better than him could lose to an illiterate dictator what of Lungu who has destroyed the economy and faces a more formidable opponent. He is not called Chagwa for nothing.

  8. Why should people vote for continued suffering? Lungu has admitted he is visionless so what will do without a vision? Over the last 18 months Lungu has proved to be a failure and apart from making himself USD2.3 million rich thru stealing money from govt, Zambians are worse off now than they were in 2015. Besides Lungu has introduced violence in what was a peaceful Zambia. If “Wako niwako” and “Kumodzi kumaawa” are not tribal then what are they. It is economic suicide to vote for the thieving, violent, divisive and hypocritical Lungu. Those who eating with him will vote for their stomachs and the majority will vote for change and that change is HH & UPND.

  9. ECL’s votes across Zambia are secured already. With or without Mpenzeni’s remarks, we are determined to Dununa HH reverse. Sontapo iwe! We shall retire low energy HH for good, mark my words. Mark ’em well, well ooh! Viva ECL!

  10. Its not TRIBAL. Mpezeni is a Ngoni. EL is from the Nsengas of Petauke. Not the same tribe. We must move away from the belief that the entire eastern province is 1 tribe. There r mo 7 or 8 tribes in the Eastern province. Emwe!!!

  11. If it is not tribal then why even talk about it Mpezeni? Chiefs please just watch and not comment on political issues. It is a pity that we now look at the chiefs in such a low regard due to their involvement in politics through unwarranted comments. What would Mpezeni do or say in an event that another party won the election? I hope that other chiefs will not be taking Mpezeni’s route! But again he is just expressing his freedom and right!

  12. Who do you think you are cheating. Even when the sitting President has failed you still endorse him just because he has to have his own term of governance? That is the most stupid thought I’ve ever heard of your royal highness. Your disclaimer is simply *****ic Chief Mpezeni.

  13. Mpezeni has been a PF cadre chief for ages and what do you expect from him? for development, there’s nothing in my home town.so what development is he talking about?

  14. ECL is like a man appointed leader of a reasonably functioning co-operative. He takes over after death of a beloved chairman. He then throws caution to the wind and goes on a borrowing and looting spree. He becomes overly rich in one year. He burdens co-op members with debilitating local and foreign debt for multiple generations of future co-op members to come.

Then come election time. This same man who has destroyed the co-op stands up and shouts Sontapo epo wabomba. He shamelessly struts around pointing at the defective projects “he” achieved but withholds critical data that: every Sontapo is from borrowed funds and that epoabombelapo is the theft of co-op cash. And so is the evil of the Chawama lutuku presido.

  15. u are a human and your vote counts too mpezezezuzu, its surprising how people can complain of high food prices like mealiemeal,as much as we are all feeling the pinch u,need to succumb to the knowledge that though we are a land locked country we aren’t locked to economy or climate changes, what we are experiencing in zambia is probably 10 times better than our nieghbors because we aren’t trading but exporting maize to botwana, angola, mozambique, tanzania,Zimbabwe, congo ,malawi,we are feeding them all so if its affecting us,imagine how they are feeling. for example botwana boarder(BOARDER) they are buying @ 150-180 a 25kg bag, what more if it enters botwana, what more the people buying inside, whatever affected all these nieghbors affected us too, edgar quickly realised that this dark…

  16. continent was about to go darker and he called for national prayer, we might argue that our bumper harvest during a poor rain season continental was a flook, well I guess the beauty of it is that we all think different

  17. It is wishful thinking how do you trust a thief to be your saviour , see how he has made people suffer through privatisation, he made himself rich .
Satan doesn’t care about any one except what he wants .
Mark my words the mistake you make will make you cry .
Who told you this guy will control the world for you, no not at all, no individual has power to control world economy.

  18. Let easterners learn to vote as southerners do, big lesson to do as your neighbours do .
Easterners ca do what southerners do.

  19. Let me step on the people from Southern province who love to start a fight at the end they are beaten….Do remember when the chiefs in southern province said and support kalusa hh….which was not a issue according to them. Look at the results in 2015 come from Southern….Honestly how do you vote 14000 to 0. So please get ready to have a test of your own medicine.
Chief bravo and spot on, this time around we are voting like naga naga formula please no complaints you started the all thing.

  20. Some people have no sense of shame. Just look at Mpezeni. This is the same Chief who tried to convince Zambians to stick to KK and UNIP even as the two entities were being politically deleted by the majority of Zambians. If an intelligent, educated, principled and exposed Chief like Paramount Chief Chitimukulu makes a statement people are more likely to take it seriously- not a well known cadre Chief.

  21. @ AK look at this. Southern Province is the most cosmopolitan province after Lusaka and the Copperbelt meaning there are people from all over the country. In the particular area you are referring to, there is a Fishing Camp whose ethnic composition is 90% from another province. Despite this they decided to give zero to your party, why?. The reason is simple, they are suffering the marginalization, neglect and poverty that the rest of the province has been experiencing. They use the same potholed roads that everyone there uses. Please go to the poverty index map of Zambia for 2016 and see where Southern province is. As long is you continue your marginalization agenda, you will continue getting those zeros which you fear so much.

  22. Because he has chosen to support PF you talk bad things to him, what if he chose to support UPND you would say good things about him. Useless people! He has the right to support who ever he wants.grow up. Just vote wisely. I thank you.

  23. Chitimukulu’s young brother is on the compaign team for pf what does that mean to u?

  24. No my chief, on this I cannot shout with pride ‘bayete inkosi’. You represent an extremely noble lineage. Our King Shaka never subjected himself to the white settlers. We cannot remove you or say too many things here but several of us are voting for HH and UPND based on principle and not patronage. I feel a sense of shame as a ngoni today.

  25. The brand new motor vehicle he’s talking about is the one Lungu has promised him. He’s an embarrassment of a chief.
The Good thing is that Eastern don’t take him seriously. He’s a chief who would park his vehicle at Chipata Girls to propose small pupils & most would reject him.
He once went into an Indian’ s shop in Chipata & started spraying himself with perfume. The Indian shopkeeper asked “nanga ni imbwa bwanji yamene izola perfume nu shop yanga”. The list of embarrassments is so long.

  26. LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. WHEN DID ALL THE CHIEFS IN ZAMBIA BECAME POLITICIANS? WE KNOW OUR PARAMOUNT CHIEF MPEZENI FOR OUR FRIENDS IN THAT REGION HAS BEEN EVER A PF CADRE AND THE TRIBE HAS BEEN QUIET NOT CAUTIONING THIS SHAMEFUL CHIEF. NDIPO MWASEBANYA BANTU BAKUMAWA AMFUMU. THERE ARE SO MANY CHIEFS BUT ONLY MPEZENI SPEAKS EVEN PETTY ISSUE WHAT WILL YOUR JUNIORS SAY. NO WONDER YOU BAKUGWILA MUMUTU KWATI NI MUNTU WAMBA, SINFUMU IYI MWANDI

  27. This country is divided and is not even fit to be called Christian. This chief is clearly divisive snd shallow minded judt like Edgar himself .

    • The chief is making sure ku mawa votes in a tongaish way..nothing wrong.bola yakosa…a cool 700k votes will match the 700k from tongas for tongas….ya balansa

  28. Unlike the Easterners, the Tonga’s voted for FTJ in 1991. In 2001 the Easterners voted for Christon Tembo, and in 2011 the Easterners voted for RB. In 2015 the Easterners voted for Edgar Lungu . who is tribal? Easterners always vote for their kind.

  29. While i agree with the sentiments made by His Royal Highness, However, it is important to mention that as a Paramount Chief, you are the father of all people not only in Eastern province but all of us. therefore aligning yourself and supporting a particular Presidential candidate is not the right thing to do. As a chief, just be neutral. just keep quiet. it will serve you alot of trouble. Naambamotu, mukanwa mukikopo.

  30. Chief Mpezeni is known for his greed, a drunkard, a poacher who used to hang around with a begging bowl at Plot 1 under the reign of Sata. By endorsing visionless Lungu expects similar monetary returns. A total opposite of Paramount Chief Gawa Undi, so principled, indeed a fitting leader of his people.

  31. So what if it is Tribalism ? You think we dont remember how Southern Province voted in the last election. Ni ‘ Wako ni wako’ this year !
