Chief Kasoma Lunga of the Ushi speaking people of Lunga district of Luapula Province has praised President Edgar Lungu for the on-going developmental projects in the district.
Chief Kasoma Lunga says President Lungu has demonstrated a great humanitarian zeal of ensuring that Lunga attains its full district status after being declared a district by late President, Micheal Sata, few years ago.
The traditional leader said the on-going construction of social infrastructures, such as schools, hospital, health posts and houses shows government’s commitment of improving the welfare of the people of Lunga.
Chief Kasoma Lunga said this at his palace when Rural Electrification Authority (REA) Chief Executive Officer, Geoffrey Musonda, paid a courtesy call on him.
The traditional leader also praised government through REA for choosing Lunga district as the area to implement the K3.3 Million Sola Mini Grid Project.
He said once completed the project will be of great economic value not only to the people of Lunga but the surrounding areas.
And REA Chief Executive Officer, Geoffrey Musonda, said the authority is committed to ensuring that people in Lunga district have access to electricity.
Mr Musonda said improving people’s access to electricity will help to accelerate other social needs of the communities, such as health and education among others.
Meanwhile, Chief Kasoma Lunga said he is ready to offer land for the construction of facilities aimed at improving the lives of the people of Lunga district.
The Ushi chief said he has already demonstrated this by offering land for the construction of the new district administration block and the Solar Mini Grid project among others.
