United Party for National Development (UPND) has continued to blame failed leadership for the poverty experienced in North Western Province. In a statement released to the media, the UPND leader said that North Western is a major contributor to our economy and rich in mineral wealth and yet the majority of its people remain in poverty.
The UPND leader said that his party’s 10 Point Plan will harness the vast natural resources and empower local people and businesses to grow into thriving and prosperous communities in which every Zambian gets a fair slice of the national cake.

Today we concluded our tour of North Western Province with rallies in Solwezi West, Solwezi East and Solwezi Central.
North Western is a major contributor to our economy and rich in mineral wealth. Yet the majority of its people remain in poverty. This story of a rich country but poor people is sadly written all over our nation.
The UPND believes the reason Zambians have failed to benefit properly from the vast natural wealth with which we have been blessed comes down to failed leadership.
Under Lungu and the PF we have a government that helps itself to healthcare while our people are lying sick on the floor, a government that helps itself to salary increases while thousands are made jobless, and a government that leaves our students without meal allowances while ministers dine out during extravagant trips overseas.
As UPND we are offering voters the chance for change on 11th August 2016. We are offering voters a chance for a government that does not shirk its responsibilities or seek to hide behind excuses.
Our 10 Point Plan will harness our vast natural resources and empower local people and businesses to grow into thriving and prosperous communities in which every Zambian gets a fair slice of the national cake.
By investing in education for all and the teaching of practical skills on the one hand, and supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs on the other, we will deliver growth that is inclusive for a united, prosperous and equitable Zambia.

@18.1 Wiseone,PF is connecting all district in NW to the national grid at a cost of US$163milion. Veterinary labs have been built in some districts. Road development has continued… The only problem is that PF under Sata had focused too much on Southern Province where they can never vote for any one apart from HH. If some of those resources were directed to NW PF could have had even more voters to count on this time! However it is never late the next 5 years Edgar will have a full mandate to do more for NW!

For this province to change for the better, People of North western province should change their work culture and the way they think. even if UPND came to power, nothing is going to change for better if the working culture and attitude towards work remains as it is. You may not agree with me NWP has not just become poor overnight. Take as an example the Mutanda Chavuma Road : this has been a contentious issue. It couldn’t be upgraded because it had no economical value so they said forgetting that people needed good roads for moving from place to place.
