Power send Zanaco to second loss of the season, Nkana end Warriors home run

Share

Power Dynamos did second placed Nkana a big favour on Saturday after beating Zanaco 2-1 to see The Bankers lead cut from eleven to eight points on the FAZ Super Division table.

The result at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe also handed Zanaco its second league defeat of the season and ended their 8-game unbeaten run.

Power played about their best football this season in a match new coach Dan Kabwe demonstrated his tactical nous playing the tried and tested players who had stuttered early this season under the fired Tennant Chilumba.

Kabwe is now unbeaten in five games in charge with one draw and four straight league wins.

Fwayo Tembo put Power 1-0 into the break in the 12th minute and turned provider in the 59th minute for Patson Daka’s second goal.

Zanaco scored the equalizer in-between through Fashion Sakala after he raced past Govender Simwala and Billy Mutale in the 47th minute before beating his former club-mate Allan Chibwe.

But Power also had defender Francis Kasinde to thank after he cleared his ex-Arthur Davies team mate Isaac Chansa’s header off the line in the 15th minute and Sakala’s attempt in the 32nd minute.

Meanwhile in Kabwe, Nkana ended Kabwe Warriors unbeaten home run this season thanks to a 1-0 away win at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium.

Just like in the first leg at Nkana Stadium in April, midfielder Jacob Ngulube returned to punish Warriors with a 22nd minute winner.

Zanaco stay put on 49 points while Power also maintain third spot rising to 37 points and still four points behind second placed Nkana.
