The Supreme court has dismissed an application by UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba in which they sought to halt the inauguration of President Edgar Lungu.
Supreme Court Justice Nigel Mutuna before whom the application was heard this morning at 10:30 Hours read out a ruling in chambers in which he said decisions made by the Constitutional Court cannot be reversed by the Supreme Court.
He also said a single judge of Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to grant an injunction but only the full bench of the court.
Justice Mutuna ruled that the application is misconceived and has since been dismissed.
The petitioners appealed to the Supreme Court on Saturday, 10th September after the ruling of Judge Mwila Chitabo on Friday, 9th September.
They also applied before Justice Mutuna for the renewal of the same injunctive interim reliefs which were before judge Chitabo.
A similar application for interim reliefs before the Constitutional Court which was supposed to come up at 11:30 hours was withdrawn by the petitioners.
As expected… move on and let Lungu destroy the economy. All Zambian judges have been paid handsomely. it is only the poor people who will suffer after IMF demands cuts in fuel, food subsides, and cut in all jobs including civil service.

If Mwanawasa was able to rule with only 29% compared to Mazoka’s 27% of the popular vote why should Lungu fail to rule with over 50%. The framers of the constitution could have made the president require say 80% of the popular vote but this percentage can only be obtained if you are standing against a frog or hyena in a democratic country.

UPND, it would seem, mistook business acumen for political acumen. The two are not synonymous. Mr. Hichilema, a business guru in his own right, may now have to rethink his political career. In my humble opinion, his error was chiefly a failure at political innovation. Considering his level of political investment, he needed more his brains, not his money. It would seem he had it the other way round – throwing money, more money at a dysfunctional political apparatus, in hope it would see it and awake out of slumber. It didn’t. A little bit of political innovation could have saved him a bundle of cash as well as a basket of heartaches. As it is, this one seems to be ending the way many others in his past ended – a spirited goose chase that ends in oblivion.

HH and GBM have a tendency to overate themselves. The do not know the meaning of servant leadership. I have read some blogggers saying the two men were doing Zambia a favour by offering themselves for leadership. That is not true. I believe servant leadership requires one to know their limitations. You don’t proclaim yourself Mr. Know-it-all.
Looks like the Tongas, lenjes, ilas,tokaleyas, kaondes, salas lambas,..and their cousins spoke through the ballot, their leaders fought through courts and all never went well. Let us be quiet and accept what has finally been decided by the Zambian people. We can contribute to the nation in another way. Create wealth for our generations. They can rig the elections but they cannot rig the strong economy from us.

With HH’s contribution, I have learnt a lot my dear! Rigging these election has not been easy. Ask the following; ECL himself, priscila Isaacs, Esau Chulu, Chikwanda (how much public funds was abused), concourt judges etc
If HH was nothing politicaly, these personalities were not going to look stupid in their won professional careers practice!

Mr. President, Congratulations for 5 more years. Sir, I beg you in the name of begging, please make the door open for HH. I think he can make a very good minister. Especially in ministry which has to do with ng’ombe. If invited to work with you, I think he will be willing to do that. Please again, in the name of begging consider him. Thanks.
My suggestion is let HH accept minister of finance position and see if can improve anything. If he does then he will have a chance to be sponsored Pf presidential candidate in 2021 and we will campaign for him simple. That’s how politics is played not the tribal way.
