UPND Chairperson for labour Percy Chanda wondered how the PF government would create the promised jobs when youths are still waiting for the 500 000 jobs they were promised by the same government.

Below is the statement as issued by the UPND

Sometimes one is at a loss of either to laugh or cry when Edgar Lungu goes to Parliament and give false hope to the suffering masses that 1million jobs will be created in the next five years. In Bemba they say “:TAKALABWA MWEBWA KALABA UWAKASOSELE” meaning its very simple for one to forget his promises than the one being promised.

Let me remind President Lungu that he made a similar promise to the jobless youths that he will create 500 000 jobs. This was before elections and now after elections he comes up with another joke that 1million jobs will be created. Sir, stop mocking the Zambian people. If at all you are sincere with yourself give the youths first the 500 000 jobs you promised them otherwise no one will ever take you serious with your so called job creation.

Look around yourself and see how people are suffering and you will appreciate what I am talking about. You call yourself a Christian, it’s unchristian to cheat and therefore stop telling lies to the needy.

I feel pity when you talk about mining, the mining sector in this country needs people with a vision to put things right in this sector. Otherwise let’s forget about mining and remain exploited the way things are now.

Yes, with serious, selfless and visionary leadership the mining sector can be a spring board for job and wealth creation. Not what I have seen in you Sir you will just continue inflicting pain and misery on poor Zambians. You have taken a path of destroying whatever good that you found. The pits belong to us but what comes out of these pits does not belong to us. Our minerals, is it a blessing or curse?

You were borrowing with your eyes and ears closed but please, this time around open your eyes and ears to see and hear how Zambians will be suffering. Six months from now play your DUNUNA REVERSE and see how many people will respond.

By closing all Media outlets you just want to hear from your own voice only, this is extremely dangerous. This is what is called in Bemba as Mano kuikwatila and also Amano uliweka tayashinguluka ikoshi.

    • Now Upnd mps resorts to offering checks and balances on online media. Kikiki. Kindly note that you were voted to represent your people in parley where your voice can be heard rather than on this useless media. Leave these online medium to finished politicians like Godfrey miyanda who is not ashamed to be insulted by bloggers.

    • If you wanted REAL SOLUTIONS you should not have helped LUNGU rig and steal the election. And YOU should have come out and demonstrated at the circus of bribery and corruption LUNGU made at the Con Court!

Why ask someone who is the victim of FRAUD and STEALING to now come and help the thief steal EVEN MORE?

You want solutions now? Kick this fake fraud “president” OUT and then maybe the solutions will come.

    • zambians mock themselves with their third world perspectives. These are people who cant even figure out how to get somewhere on time! try it, arrange to start a meeting with a Zambian at 14:00 hrs and see if they will be there on time. Worse still they wont even call to let you know that they are running late or wont show up. When you call them to find out where they are, their phone is off.

So stop blaming each and every president that comes in power and change your mindsets to be worthy citizens! Bye.

    • I think Zambians enjoy exaggerated figures, ever since they started thinking in English. I wish they could think in vernacular like Percy. If you understand those bemba proverbs, then you will stop praising crooked Edgar.

    • SERIOUSLY, ANSATU, IS ONE MILLION JOBS A BIG DEAL AND IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE? IN
FACT ZAMBIA WITH PROPER PLANNING AND INPUTS CAN ACHIEVE TO CREATE MORE THAN 3 MILLION JOBS WITHIN PF’s 5 YEAR TERM OF OFFICE.

    • It’s not Lungu to create Jobs. The private sector is supposed to do that, which means you & I.

Govt creates an enabling environment through policy (fiscal & monetary) direction, regulations, tax incentives, peace & security, etc…

ECL has called on every citizen to engage in farming, do you know how many would be employed if everyone did that? I’ll tell you.

If the formal sector employees 750,000 people, & each of those employed 5 people on their smallholding (5 acre farm), 3,750,000 jobs would have been created dah…!

Don’t just criticize. Instead, demand that govt makes the land available & accessible to you so you can do your part.

    • Get rid of all those Chinese and foreigners doing jobs which Zambians can can do especially at Mines and infrastructure development.

  1. So you chaps were listening??? Hehehehe. Your MP’s missed parley meanwhile there was no “chigayo” and you guys were listening….lol

  2. Percy Chanda, that is very easy to answer. If UPND gets out of its stupid campaign mood, stops boycotting this and that, gets down to work like the rest of us, does its job in parliament and supports the elected government (kikikikiki), by guidance and even constructive criticism, we can create even.more than 1,000,000 jobs.

  3. Lungu is a mad president. He thinks creating new ministry is job creation. Lungu is the dumbest president in history. I pity this generation

    • You NEZ or should I say Larry you are a bigot who looks at issues through the biased lense of tribalism…machende yako musa

    • I bet you’re terribly missing ZWD where Hakashide was adored 24/7.
It’s been Liquidated and Privatised by you president to raise legal fees.

    • NEZ, LOOOOOOL, ati shani abena “watch-poppy”…humbled ka? Give me some news. I used to visit the mad site once in a while just to check how much insane you guys had become. What has happened to your mouth-piece?

  4. Look at the story on yesterday’s ZNBC, villagers in Kalomo are facing a critical shortage of water due to drying up of rivers, and are sharing shallow wells with their animals. Meantime as UPND MPs are boycotting parliament, they cannot represent those poor villagers who gave them their votes. This country would be paradise if UPND either did their job or disappeared from the political scene. Imagine MPs receiving allowances for doing nothing and we have people like NEZ complaining about a bloated cabinet, what is the difference? What is better, to steal tax payers money by not working or paying 30 cabinet ministers who are working for the country?

    • And you are another dull chimbwi because any sane man will realise that allowances are only paid for those that attend parliament. The upnd people have integrity and would rather go without mere allowance in order to bring about change which will benefit their people in the long term. What gas a cabinet minister ever done for me or my poor Zambian family. Silly maggot

    • Find out the responsibilities of MPs and you will stop ranting! This why many of you are lost because you think MP are there to bring development! Wake up my friend!

    • Terrible, you are obviously too stup!d to know the difference between the Legislative branch and the Executive branch of Government.

      Parliament MAKES LAWS

      Presidents and Cabinet IMPLEMENT POLICY

If villagers in Kalomo are facing a critical shortage of water due to drying up of rivers, IT IS LUNGU and his GOVERNMENT that is supposed to fix the problem, not Parliament.

      DULL CHAP!!

  5. Zambians are gullible and they do not really care if the PF led govt creates the said jobs for as long as during the elections, they can entertain the masses. Politicians should be tamed and help accountable for the promises they make, but that is not the case and they can do as they please unfortunately. Fellows just work hard for yourself and find means of doing it and do not wait for the government, you will be very disappointed.

  6. NEZ, its good to hear from you that your MPs will not accept allowances for boycotting parluament. Now since the reason for the boycott was non recognition of President Lungu, please advise them to boycott parliament forever. And now make sure they don’t claim a single allowance from parley. They cannot have their cake and eat it.

    • Terrible: you raised a very progressive comment about Kalomo. Can we have a response from the Kalomo MP on why those people are facing such conditions. Their area MP should be answerable period. These people are voted for to represent the common mass in their constituencies. Failure to provide the services in these communities falls on the MPs head. Only wicked and bitter people will not understand and acknowledge this position.

  7. And the visionary leadership Percy you are talking about cannot certainly come from UPND leadership far from it! What was the cost of privatization and what were the benefits?

  8. Bitter cretins, Satamic minions without anything to offer. You just keep praying to your Supreme Satamic god from Bwengwa and leave us in peace to develop the country.

  9. But some upnd ..kuwaya wayafye…i don’t know if these people can read… OK he asks i f pf the 500,000 job eployment… More than 180,000 new nurses,150,000+ new teachers… That alone brings us to 330,000 minus 500,000 equal to 170,000 still pending..now if we had to share that 170,000 amongst new zaf, zns,zp,military don’t u think that number is too small…let’s also look at indirect employment of road and infrastructure workers… I was told those people were only allowed to hire locals and boy oh boy did they employ..I’m Breaker a transcendent and NEZ I approve this message

  10. Serious political parties have manifestos where they outline their plans in developing the country and not ten point plans and if they fail to live up to their manifesto you vote them out at the next election. KK promised Zambians an egg per day but this goal seems elusive even after 52 years of independence. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are promising of creating jobs if elected to office. That is what politicians do. If the PF does not create a million jobs it is your democratic right not to vote for it.

  11. HH was promising 2million jobs so how was he going to create them. Just wait and see because Edgar is not campaigning but giving his vision.

  12. Zambia is in for a roller coaster ride the next five years if Lungu will be in charge of the economy. He has admitted he is clueless and has no vision for the country and this depressing reality is already very much evident by the way he has began operating. A poverty stricken and financially crippled economy is going to be further more burdened by creating more ministries whose main function will be to employ cadres in appreciation for helping him become president. A serious and sober minded president would have began life as CEO of the republic by looking critically at where they could cut costs and invest money productively. You could tell that these lunatic decisions are made after long bouts of heavy drinking.

  13. Wantanshi listening to u is boring..but from ur talk I can clearly say I know which part of Zambia u come from…look guy majority of Zambians did not vote for HH,if you are to blame anyone fr future mistakes blame us because we are the course of your five years of bitterness but if we had to follow ur ways o thinking we might end up Eaton chibwantu for breakfast, lunch and supper..how does drinking come into this topic? Can’t u see if Edgar was a mistake then I created a mistake I would learn from than I learning from your mistakes of voting HH,just know if edgar performs according to my expectations I’ll give him another five, pliz dont let your chibwantu affect us way of thinking. Breaker

    • @Jo Breaker

You assume I am from Southern and UPND. You are mistaken. I am from Milima, Kasama. I am for whats best for our country. The current crop in power do not inspire me and you can easily tell which direction Zambia is headed. Do not be over-sensitive when your leader is criticized. We all have vested interest in the country and should only employ quality leadership which Lungu isn’t.

  14. Walasa wantanshi. This PF fools think whoever criticizes Lungu is UPND No, we are all shareholders in this nation and I don’t have to belong to a particular party to criticize lungu. It’s enough to be a citizen

  15. Which sound economy? Research and you’ll know the truth. If you can’t revert to me and I will give you stats

  16. The problem we have with HH is that he is infact the biggest liability and liar.
Let me show you how PF Government can easily achieve the 1 million job market in five years
1 Lusaka can easily create 300,000 formal and informal informal jobs
2 Copperbelt can create 150, 0000 new jobs by new projects and mining and Agriculture
    3. North Western Province can create about 100, 000 new jobs cause of new mines, agricultural and tourism
    4. The remaining 7 Provinces can easily each create 60, 000 by seriously heeding the President’s call of making agriculture the main stay of our economy.
This however requires that each one stops expecting anything on silver plate but apply oneself. When we make the elected representatives at all levels accountable, including mayors and councillors, this…

  17. Dear Bloggers, If it was an exam, most you guys would fail. Where does HH come in this article? You abstain to dialogue with fellow bloggers on issues raised your focus or mind is twisted to HH.

Its bizare to ask the author of the article to provide a solution when your ECL claimed he has a solution, more so there was nothing to fix? so what is fixing?

If you are in a race, you can not ask another persons car and use it for your race its not only bizarre but stupidity
@ Danger you are the most stupid of all on this blog. You see a problem where he has not made any comment…just get some life.

  18. Trouble with UPND fellows is that they criticise anything done or said by PF. Leave them alone. If Lungu manages to do half of what he read, 1 million jobs can be created. Of course that is not Lungu alone, but all of us. I am to create 5 more jobs by end of this year. So far I have managed to put 10 people in permanent employment. How many employees do you have you fellows complaining here?

  19. You have given yourselves another five years ba pf. The first five you completely failed. The economy which Levi worked hard for you have destroyed. I wander the type of people you are supporting this failure we are all seen. This is the most incompetent government this country has ever seen. The worst is yet to come. PF is the party for Saturn worshippers.

  20. The 1,000,000,000 job creation is achievable through new ideas and working together with the government. The new jobs will come from 1. Construction of roads and houses. 2. Agriculture thus crops and livestock farming. 3. Tourism. 4. Energy and 5. Mining as the last option. Levi Mwanawasa had no magic for the economy he just came at the right time during the boom when the price of metals was at peak. PF came when the world economy was facing the V effect of American economy and the lowest metal prices.

  21. The only problem with upnd sympathizers is dat they wat to rule. Whether they have a vision or not all they wat is a name tag dat they ruled. Life is not like dat guys, cool down and sober up. U can also give the Zambian pipo employment even in ur opposition state. Stop claiming victory which u didn’t get.. U had a lot of votes but they just didn’t reach 50+1.. Jealous and pride will kill most of u upnd supporters

    • It’s not Lungu to create Jobs. The private sector is supposed to do that, which means you & I.

Govt creates an enabling environment through policy (fiscal & monetary) direction, regulations, tax incentives, peace & security, etc…

  22. Five years into 1m is very easy to achieve until now i didnt quiet realise how bitter upnd was over the last loss anyway sometimes better the devil you know we are ready to work hard and unlike some people we dont need GRZ led solutions

  23. Percy Hachanda you losing the even before the ball is kicked. Your aim is to ensure PF fails, but remember it’s the zambians who’ll suffer if PF failed. So don’t try to destabilize the environment in order to scare away would be investors. We know it’s one of your master plans.

  24. One million jobs my foot!!They never even talked about the 500,000 jobs they earlier promised.I told you the only pronouncement that will be achieved from that Parliamentary speech is the creation of more Ministries.

  25. ZAMBIA NEEDS AN INDEGENOUS PRESIDENT TO RUN THE AFFAIRS OF THIS COUNTRY WELL, KNOWING THEY ARE DOING IT FOR MOTHER ZAMBIA, WHICH IS WHY WE OFFERED ZAMBIA HH TO LEAD US, AND THANK YOU BECAUSE MOST OF YOU VOTED FOR HIM, BUT FOREIGNERS IN LUNGU’S CAMP INTERCEPTED US AND STOLE OUR VOTE. AS LONG AS FOREIGNERS LIKE LUNGU REMAIN PRESIDENTS OF OUR LAND, THEN ZAMBIA IS GOING NOWHERE. OUR PROBLEM IS HAVING MANY FOREIGNERS POSING AS ZAMBIANS BECAUSE THEY WERE GIVEN NRCs AND ARE NOW FUNCTION AS GOVERNMENT LEADERS, POLICY MAKERS. SHAME. ZAMBIA NEEDS COMPLETE OVERHAULING BY AN INDEGENOUS ZAMBIAN PRESIDENT, THE LIKES OF HH.
