CHIPATA Central Hospital in Eastern Province has received 24 intern
doctors in an effort to continue provide proper health care to the
people who were seeking medical attention.
Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya said when he toured the
institution over the weekend that he was happy that the hospital was
striving in providing services to people.
Dr Chilufya said it was the duty of the Government to ensure that
people were given the best health care in all the health institutions
in the country.
“These (intern) doctors who are here have clocked about two weeks now
and shall be helping in giving out the best level to the patients,” he
said.
Dr Chilufya said the construction of an eye clinic at Chipata Central
Hospital would lessen long distances people in Chipata used to cover
to go to Mwami Adventist Hospital.
He said the construction of the eye clinic would be completed in
February next year.
Dr Chilufya also said Government wants to put up an oxygen plant at
Chipata Central Hospital to be supplying to all hospitals in the
province.
Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu said the Government was expected
to open the newly constructed Namuseche Zonal health centre by
December this year.

Good move, the next 24 docs will be sent to Kasama next year and then in 2018 mansa will receive 24 intens, 12 inten docs will be sent to Kabwe in 2019. 36 will send to kopala in 2020(vision) and 36 med graduates from Micheal sata University will be sent to Lusaka.
ALL THESE INTERNS ARE EITHER CHINESE TRAINED OR RUSSIAN TRAINED VERY USELESS , JUST KILLING PEOPLE THEY KNOW NOTHING APART FROM BEER DRINKING AND BONKING

Matokwani, nothing tribal here. Not every hospital in Zambia can get interns, only 6 hospitals in Zambia (uth, Levy Mwanawasa, Livingstone central, Kitwe central, Ndola central and chipata central)are internship sites. This is because they have the sufficient numbers of consultants to pass on the skills to the newly qualified doctors who can then move on to work independently and then be posted to the other hospitals.
