Move on to serious national issues now your petition is thrown out, MMD tells UPND

The MMD National Youth Chairperson Mr Dauzen Tembo has charged that since  the  Presidential Election Petition in the Constitution Court has been thrown out, the UPND must now move on to serious national issues as opposed to playing to the gallery.

Mr Tembo called on the UPND leadership to “use their limited time in the opposition” to concentrate on contributing to the national debate agenda and to protecting the lives of the young ones in their party from being used in political mudslinging.

“We are happy to hear the UPND MPs on Parliament radio debating freely because we think they have realised that the petitions were frivolous, ill intended and meant to only serve the interests of two individuals that is Goefrey Mwamba  and Hakainde Hichilema.

“Honestly, it was going to be folly and naive for 58 MPs who are mature and fully grown up men and women to be used to advance a baseless agenda of not recognising a democratically and legitimately elected President just to appease two

people who were white washed by a strong and organised force of the PF-MMD alliance,” he said.

He said his party has been vindicated after strongly campaigning for the PF President Edgar Lungu and that the UPND should now consider going to a convention to seek a new mandate from their membership.

“Surely, for us as MMD we have been vindicated because we put up a strong campaign. We can only but encourage and advise them to go to a convention before they fall into the Nevers Mumba trap of abrogating their party constitution.

“We want to remind them that as a party we went to a convention despite the then incumbent party president Nevers Mumba’s refusal to hold a convention as per our party constitution. Otherwise they will also be caught unaware by their membership. They must be weary of their newly found friend Nevers Mumba who will land them in a similar situation like his,” he said

  1. Our outgoing and losing Presidential Candidate HH has conceded that he needs to call a convention he will be addressing the nation not from the party secretariat but as usual from his house. GBM will also hold a press conference at his home in roan road. We are ready for change 221 Zambia Forward new Look UPND is coming like fire….

    • Why doesn’t MMD sort out who is its president between Mumba and Mutati instead of lecturing to UPND? How does MMD profit from using their meagre brain resources against UPND? How many MPs do these scarecrows from yesteryear have in Parliament anyway?

  2. LOL. The writer of this fake article forgot to fabricate one more lie to explain why it is MMD’s business to lecture UPND what to do next, or not do, about the petition.

  3. MMD party is dead and whatever the they can say will never change the fact that UPND won and some selfish useless people overturned the decision of the majority for their own personal benefit at the expense of the poor Zambian people. it so sad that people can speak publicly against the right people and promote useless people. we all have eyes and we can tell the difference between white and black… if don’t have anything good to say just shut up ….

  4. TEMBO FROM EASTERN PROVINCE, ANOTHER WAKO-NI WAKO. WHAT COUNCELLING CAN YOU GIVE US IN UPND? IF A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITION IS NOT A NATIONAL ISSUE, THEN WHAT WILL BE MORE OF A NATIONAL ISSUE THAN THIS ONE? PRESIDENT LUNGU STOLE POWER FROM PRESIDENT HH, PERIOD. AND WHAT CONVENTION ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? YOU ARE NOT EVEN A UPND MEMBER, SO WHY ARE YOU MAKING PROPOSALS ON OUR BEHALF? WE HAVE A UPND MANIFESTO WHICH GUIDES US. TEMBO JUST GO WINE AND DINE AT STATE HOUSE WITH LUNGU. BUT REMEMBER THAT IT IS OUR MONEY WHICH YOU ARE ABUSING.

    • Sounds so silly to be saying wako ni wako at this time – when it is only your region that was tribal. Inonge is not an Easterner.

    • @Truth, you seem to be bitter, so bitter. It is time you accepted that HE Edgar is the Republican president. See the Concourt has finally thrown own your petition. Whether Tembo goes to dine with Lungu or not, that is none of your business. Emigrate to Angola if you feel Edgar is not the president of this nation. We are not interested to hear about “petition” anymore. Next items please.

    • These wakos are very keen to protect their govt. We all know that Inonge Wina is a stooge who could not even save her nephew’s (Mmembe’s PFost) business against Lungu’s wrath.

  5. Kikikikiki another throw out. When are these retards going to accept that they lost. Honestly one petition been ejected the same number as he has been losing elections. Kikiki indeed it’s laughable. How do you petition without evidence? The only evidence he has is that he lost and Ecl won and those are the grounds he is standing on to win the court case.

  6. THIS TEMBO DUDE SHOULD JUST KEEP QUIET!!!!! THIS IS HOW DULL SOME PEOPLE CAN BE. THE ISSUE OF THE PETITION HAS NOT BEEN HEADLINES FOR WEEKS THEN THIS DULL CHAP BRINGS IT UP. IF YOU WANT LUNGU RECOGNIZED THEN DO IT IN A SUBTLE WAY DON’T BRING UP THE QUESTIONS OF THE PETITION HENCE GIVING HH AND GBM A PLATFORM. YOU ARE NOT HELPING LUNGU BUT HURTING HIM BY BRINGING THIS UP. BE QUIET!!!!

  7. Lack of reading is a serious disease most of us suffer from. The ConCourt threw out the petition on the legality of swearing President ECL. This has nothing to do with the Presidential election petition with the High Court which is to be heard later this month. Mr Tembo, as an aspiring future leader, should read and understand issues before going public

    • and Mr Kgosi, you expect a different outcome from the highcourt?wake up and smell the coffee my friend.ECL is the president and the whole world has recognised him as Zambia’s president…..so the best is for UPND to mobilise themselves and carry the momentum they had in the just ended elections to 2021.Otherwise the momentum will die and UPND might even become extinct by 2021 if not careful. They can petition all they like but nothing will change, not even the ICC can change the results which were announced by ECZ.So if indeed there slogan is forward, then let them just add on to what they already have and 2021 should be a landslide/whitwash!

    • Correction: it is the Supreme Court, not the Kangaroo Court that gave a ruling on the swearing in and even then the Pathetic Justice Mutuna claimed that he could not determine it on his own and required the whole Supreme Court bench, which begged the question why he started the hearing alone when he did not have the mandate to determine the case alone.

  8. Mr Tembo is a lost fellow. You are just dancing to the tune of PF being their cadre now. Your Lungu was not democratically and legitimately elected but democratically and legitimately lost. Who swore him as president? Who is supposed to swear in the president elect? Your Lungu is just forcing himself on the citizens as a leader using state machinery kwata. And you will soon know what will be the outcome of this action. And you should know by now what the behaviour of our courts has become… in this country especially under Lungu as leader.

  9. Maphia cut your family not Zambia. Zambians are not divided but very few individuals. We mixed and invested in all parts of the country as a one nation. If you’ve nothing to contribute please shut your peak and site your ass down.

  10. I am not in support of the article but will offer advise Upnd. They should go for a proper convention which will freely elect leaders from across Zambia not hand picking ruffians like GBM for the sake of tribe placating. I can assure everyone Upnd will win the next election.

  11. If upnd go into 2021 with hh on its top, then never expect different results.it will be copy and paste in favour of PF!!!expect PF to win in 6 and half provinces while upnd too shall win in 3 and half provinces!!!upnd say 2016 elections were manupulated by ECZ in favour of PF.but what will change in 2021?nothing as the same ECZ officials whom hh and his team insult will be referees!!!how can a football team win a game which before they play, coaches and players insult a referee badly?hh is indeed an under 5 politician!!!

  12. it is so disheartening to hear right minded pipo still supporting the most corruptly stinking government. look at what is happening in the country, hunger is looming from most of the very areas where staunch PF supporters are based yet they can’t see the signs. How many tonnes of maize has FRA managed to buy from farmers in eastern province? why do u think farmers didn’t want to supply FRA with maize this year?coz they know understand how corrupt the current government is and it won’t help the nation in any way.a healthy nation is a happy nation…. is it possible without maize to sustain Zambia’s food cycle? Never…..so for u who are calling for a convention for UPND, try to clean ur house before u clean UPND’s house.Mumba is the MMD President as it was ruled out by the court. How can…

  13. People that can not see the harm Dictatorship does to a Nation are short sighted and actually have very short memories of What Kaunda and His Vigilantes did to this great Nation being Dununa Reversed!
For sure they have declared with their tongues that they will reverse the progressive Strides Zambia made during the sane leadership of the greatest leader Zambia has ever had in the late Levy Patrick Mwanawasa.
Forget the personal gains and look at the future of the majority Zambians.
Mr. Tembo you would do well to fight for ex- Zambia Airways Employees’ Benefits if you really care. You were there and you know that without your political connections you would be in the same boat. Please help to change things.

  14. an advise from dauzen tembo a serious beneficiary of the pf party which is now mmd/pf under easterner knows very well that the going of lungu is the their end . like others be concerned with your mmd party and forget about others there is too much work waiting to be done in pf we want results meal meal going at k150 to k200 prizes in rural areas where many people live give your advise to lungu , rb dora to improve the economy
