Nchanga Rangers FCNchanga Rangers will appeal their demotion to Division One meted out on the club by the FAZ Disciplinary Committee over bribery allegations.

Nchanga chairman Yorum Kapai described the demotion of the 1998 Super Division champions as unconstitutional.

“We are appealing. By tomorrow we should lodge in the appeal,” Kapai said via phone on Tuesday.

“That ruling is against the FAZ Constitution,” he argued.

The unnamed referee reported an offer, promise and grant of cash to unjustifiably advantage Nchanga Rangers in a game against Nkwazi Football Club.

The whole conversation was recorded and played in the disciplinary committee meeting.

The committee also slapped life bans on the four officials mentioned by name in the recording namely Elijah Mugala,
Matyola Haanyama, Patrick Nkhata (team manager) and Shadrick Chalenga.

Mugala, Haannyama, Nkhata and Chalenga failed to appear before the disciplinary Committee despite being summone

  1. There is need to have commission of inquiry into the referees. The officiating of some of these referees leaves much to be desired.

    • Appealing will just be an academic exercise. If at all the club was not guilty, why didnt the accused persons appear before the disciplinary committee. Moreover, FAZ is not an isolated entity they follow FIFA rules and regulations and the precedence was set by the likes of Juve and Lazio. Match fixing is a very serious offence bwana malenger chair
