Govt. fostering gender equality-Kalima

 Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering gender equality and economic empowerment through innovation and entrepreneurship so as to improve the livelihood of citizens.
Minister of Gender Victoria Kalima says women have a key role to play in bettering the welfare of citizens.
Ms. Kalima said government recognizes that the private sector is an integral part of the economy and needs to involve women from different educational backgrounds to significantly contribute development.
She said this in a speech read on her behalf by Ministry of Gender Director Martha Mwitumwa during a graduation ceremony of some women entrepreneurs whose theme was ‘Third Flight Start Up Academy’ which was organized by the ‘We-create’ project,

She said government has provided an enabling environment for women inclusion and promotion in commerce, trade and industry so as to create wealth and uplift living standards of people in the country.
And ‘We- Create’ Zambia Executive Director, Nambula Kachumi said the programme is tailored to capture and support women entrepreneurs to maximize their potential by providing them with access to various resources, training and other business growth programmes.
Ms. Kachumi said We Create Zambia believes that women owned and operated businesses can have the capacity to stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities.
