The Anti-Corruption Commission is today set to state its position on the impeding probe of former Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili for corruption.
ACC Spokesman Timothy Moono said in an interview that the Commission will state its position today on whether it will proceed with investigating Dr Kambwili or not.
Last week, a highly placed source at the ACC revealed that the Commission was set to start probing Dr Kambwili’s accumulation of vast wealth after serving in government for five years.
The source also revealed that State House has also given a go ahead to the Commission to investigate Dr Kambwili.
But Mr Moono said the Commission’s official position on the matter will be known today.
“I know that there is general interest in this matter but all I can say to you now is that on Monday, we will tell the public the official position regarding that matter,” Mr Moono said.
Images have emerged on social media showing Dr Kambwili’s plush villas in Luanshya and another set of 500 flats in Mitengo area on Ndola-Kitwe road and details of his contracts under Mwamona Investments, a firm in which he is Director which has obtained several huge public and private contracts.
There is a very serious problem right there!!! Why does the President have to give a go ahead in order for ACC to investigate somebody?? Zambia will for a long time to come remain in the dark ages – with soo much power vested in one many!!!!

And herein lies the problem …..the ACC just wants to expose the fact that ECL was lying when he says that ACC is at liberty to investigate any of his Ministers without getting his permission ….why accuse them of incompetence when even the late Sata blasted the ACC that they had investigated his Minister (Wynter) without seeking permission first …why should this be an issue of what each President that comes in thinks should be the case instead of this being shrouded in Institutional governance? This is a big problem in our country and these institutions will never be independent so long the President continues to appoint and disappoint Institutional heads 🙁

This case is going nowhere…………..I am sure he’ll account for the money that he has especially that he’s been a business man before he even joined politics. Taking on this case will just be a waste of tax payers money.
He must then show us how much tax he paid ZRA for him to accumulate such wealth within a short period when actually the economy was not dong well. Such tax must include PAYE, WHT if any, INCOME TAX and any tax related to his business together with the total number of employees he has employed over the period. If he has terminated services of such employees he must show us the total terminal benefits paid by his company and which bank through which bank they got their terminal benefits and any related taxes paid to the Zambia Revenue Authority. Dozens of thieves mentioned in the audit report are waiting to be arrested but so far nothing is happening. To single out Kambwili alone for investigations out of all the corrupt ministers smacks of personal vendetta by Lungu. We all know the whole system is rotten.

500 Flats? R these figures correct? If so, that is a massive development & running into millions of Dollars. What is the average of cost of buying a medium modern Flat in Ndola? Do your maths.
