Hundreds of PF cadres and some bus drivers this morning besieged Lusaka Civics Centre and staged a protest after reports that the PF government is in the process of privatising Kulima Tower Bus station.

Reports have emerged that the Government through the Lusaka City Council are in the process of privatising Kulima Tower bus station to an investor from South Africa.

The drivers at Kulima Tower fear that the development would increase their parking fees and cut into their daily cashing especially that fuel prices were recently hiked.

The drivers and hundreds of PF cadres descended on the Civics Centre around 09 Hours and forced the security personnel to close off all entry points to the premises.

Only Council employees with IDs were allowed entry into the Civics Centre. The cadres and drivers were demanding to be addressed by Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba.

Later, group representatives were allowed to go inside the Civics Centre to meet council officials.

    • I have said it before, These same PF thugs who put EL into power are the ones who will bring him down and not HH, Those who rise by the sword will fall by the same, EL in his little brain thought using uneducated Kaponyas to vote him into power will do him good but he made the greatest mistake of his life for these guys care less about anything and their thinking capacity is like that of a 5 year old child.

    • PF is a govt of foools, chosen by foools for foools. I don’t give a monkeys if Kulima Tower is sold off to investors or closed altogether. Anybody who thought Lungu and PF are pro-poor is like those braindead rednecks in America who voted for Donald Trump. Lungu and his tandem of thieves only care for their pockets and families.

    • Uko!
Its feasting time for dununa regret! Mwapya, this is just the introduction to the PF visionless moments. Uko!

    • The idi000tis are protesting, not because they fear fees will go up…nar..nar..nar. These hardcore pf criminals who have taken over these bus station as personal to holder source of income. Right now councils do not get anything from these bus stations because these are base grounds for the PF hardcore criminals, their bread and butter source and hence forth they can ever comity murder over this matter-it all goes down to PF’s criminality and thungishness torelance. This nonsense never used to be witnesses under KK or Chiluba…the country has simply gone to the dogs under PF.

So stop the pretense-its all about akalilo, these protests are being organized by the PF criminals who have been milking the council and they know that once under private hands their criminality will be…

    • be cartelled.

Please, let the idi00ts hang, privatize all the damned station and bring back order to our stations and let the council gain some meaningful income from this sector.

    • Good. Let these thugs be displaced and let professional policing be put in place instead of them intimadting other political members

    • This has nothing to do with the poor Zambians, money from these stations goes to cadres pockets the Council and ZRA/GRZ get nothing. That is why there is noise

    • This is healthy. Such are the rights of people and should be encouraged. On the other leaders should learn to consult all stakeholders in development not making policies that have no national appeal. It’s a lesson well taught to this educated people who don’t know how to work with stakeholders. They knew that the station has existing structures but they went ahead to do deals without consulting and getting their input and concerns into consideration

    • They’ll tell pea brains that tongas are bad people when in actual fact these thieves fear a Levy Mwanawasa style of kicking them out of their cash cows.
Levy with Sylvia “Belinda” Masebo had controlled this nonsense.

  1. Nothing wrong to allow private entities to run some of these facilities to bring in BETTER ACCOUNTABILITY! HOWEVER THE MANNER in which they want to do is WRONG!! There is NO STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT hence the PROTESTS and there NO TRANSPARENCY!! IF it is true they want to do that, WHEN WAS THE TENDER ADVERTISED? WHY CAN’T WE RUN A COMPETITIVE BID and ALLOW ZAMBIANS TO PARTICIPATE SO THAT WE CAN START CREATING OUR OWN MILLIONAIRES AND OUR OWN ECONOMY? WHY EVERYTHING LUCRATIVE HAS TO GO TO FOREIGNERS BEFORE WE ASK SOME WILLING and INNOVATIVE ZAMBIANS TO DO IT?This sounds like PURE CORRUPTION and PROTESTS ARE JUSTIFIED!!

    • Well said @bwafyaa. Why does everything have to go to foreigners???? There are capable Zambians that can run Kulima Tower.

    • Most Zambians just know how to eat. If this facility is given to a political cadre to run nothing will come out of it and disorderliness will continue but meanwhile the cadre running will have become very rich but without benefit to the masses.

  2. Yes bakaponya, this is what you should be doing. Close down more places!!!!!
Also demand the release of your Kulima Tower bus conductor chairman Mwaliteta.

  3. President Edgar Lungu must start working for the poor who voted for him.life is too hard for many Zambians today.so let wrong moves by Govnt stop.nobody will control protests if all PF cadres protest in urban areas.BUT PLEASE UPND DONT CHEAT YOURSELVES THAT OUR PROTEST IS TO SHOW THAT WE HATE PF,BIG NO.ALL WE WANT IS FOR PF TO BE DOING RIGHT THINGS!!

    • PF will only do right things for their own pockets, not bakaponya. Wake up you maggots. You were tricked by these thieves.

    • @Njimbu! we are waiting to see if tribe is going to put food on your table you tribalist. i’m sure you must be a Grade 9 failure c!kala.

    • That’s true, what has happened to their “sonta slogan?” and the famous “dununa reverse” song? Let them know that “bola naikosa”

  4. Who gave these I.d.I.o.ts police permit? whoever will arrest HH for illegal assembly without police permit ninshi mwana wambwa! don’t tell me we have now first and second class citizens

    • @topcat unfortunately we do have first and second class citizens. Why is Mwaliteta still in prison? He committed no crime. PF is sussed out now…

  5. ironically, there is guy wearing a dununa reverse t-shirt protesting!!! Lets Go ECL- show them what Dununa Reverse means!!!

  6. @ Njimbu. Do not change the narrative UPND is not the subject here. Be rational, PF cadres and bus drivers have a point that needs addressing.
This is ‘DUNUNA LIVESI’ that PF govt should handle and manage without disturbalising our peace and normal life in the nation.
Do not digrace and name other political parties in this beginning of the end of PF regime.

  7. Lungu’s downfall fast approaching, he must ask Kaunda. When hungry and struggling people take to the streets and cause disruptions you must wake up.

  8. These protests have been organised by the BIG PF cadres that cash-in about K 12 000 everyday. These are the main beneficiaries of the lawlessness in Lusaka and Zambia.

    • This is the only sane comment. The real protesters are not even at the Civic Center. They are the one who will be affected by this move because they cash in real big. No wonder the PF Govt is going the private way to avoid this day light robbery.

  9. When was the Permit issued??
Some are more equal than others.
Anyway Zambians love suffering & poverty drama, so enjoy P.F Cadres.

  10. Had it been UPND cadres this time they could have been locked up in cells. We warned you Zambians to vote wisely. It is even very surprising that PF cadres have risen against their own government. And this is just the beginning. We are yet to see more protests because things are not getting any better in this country. Meanwhile their PF President will be flying out today to enjoy the comfort of a South African hotel. You reap what you sow!

  11. POLITICS AND ECONOMICS NONE OF THEM WANT TO DIE. NONE OF THEM SHOULD DIE OR NEGLECTED BECAUSE THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS.

  12. False news. LCC being a public entity is supposed to advertise the facility in the local press. I have not seen such an advert unless they are the process of doing so.

  13. PLEASE PRIVATISE THIS PLACE AND MAYBE IT WILL BE CLEANER AND MORE EFFICIENT. WE NEED BETTER AND MORE SANITARY RESTROOMS TOO. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE YEARS AGO. A PERCENTAGE OF THE FARES FOR PASSENGERS THAT BORED AND DISEMBARK AT THIS BUS STOP WILL BE PAID AS COMMISSION TO THE COMPANY AND IN TURN THE COMPANY WILL PROVIDE SECURITY, SANITARY ENVIRONMENT AND RESTROOMS AND MORE ORGANIZED OPERATION WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. PEOPLE SHOULD FEEL SAFE AT THE BUS STOP NOT INTIMIDATED. NEXT SHOULD BE ALL MAJOR CITY STATIONS INCLUDING INTERCITY AND KMB. PRIVATISE ALL OF THEM.

  14. Did I hear well that Kulima T is privatized? Is it HH they will accuse again? I’m not a fan of HH but it is the ordinary man’s level of analysis which is shocking. We were adequately warned but we ignored. Let us enjoy our miserable harvest! Ebo twikwite …

  15. Njimbu the president is already working for the poor thru the first lady mother of the nation….. Am sure the K1.5m will go a long way

  16. Distinguished ladies en gentlemen… Can someone make me understand the benefit we shall realise from privatising Kulima tower if it were true?

  17. One LCC will make alot of money Two,to help service delivery and to bring sanity to the station Three, we need to develop as a country Four, ECL has a mandate to develop Zambia in the next 5 years five, pliz dont be used by this cadres go ahead and privatize it.

  18. This is the way forward…get rid of these ruling party cadres who put money in their pockets; this has to end if we want clean well run stations!!

    • But it should not be done in secret! That’s the problem here. People heard rumors, why not engage them and lay out the plan so that everyone is in the know?? You must remember reported speech is exaggerated always hence the need for the people involved to face the public and explain the way forward.

    • @FDD for 2021 –
“why not engage them and lay out the plan so that everyone is in the know??”

Because Lungu and his PF have CLOSED DOWN THE POST NEWSPAPER and all we have is Government papers and DEAD ZNBC! So they can do ANYTHING in secret if they want.

Now Zambians must PAY for allowing Lungu to STEAL THE ELECTION – And the COUNTRY!

    • How can you engage with people who are not stakeholders…its likened to you negotiating with Squatters on your property; to add insult to injury they are also subletting…what would you do?

  19. LCC should not be intimidated by these kaponya to them Kulima Tower is there cash crop. The council is losing a lot of money through these kaponyas.

  20. POLITICS CAN BE INTERESTING. THE SAME UPND THUGS COMPLAIN THAT BUS STATIONS HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER BY PF CADRES. BUT WHEN THE CITY COUNCIL WANTS TO BRING SANITY AT INTERCITY BUS TERMINUS BY PRIVATISING IT AGAIN THE SAME UPND RUNS TO SUPPORT THE PF CADRES WHO ARE PROTESTING.

  21. All PF cadres at all levels want to eat illegally. Senior cadres have fraudulently awarded a contract whilst chibuku cadres want to continue illegally collecting revenue from a public place. With this attitude even a hundred million years from now Zambians will still be using oit latrines

  22. did they have a permit to demonstrate? How come there are no police to chase them? Funny the way affairs are managed in this country. Some animals are more equal than others

  23. Shoot these *****s and close the chapter. That is why travelers are scared and not free to get transport to their destinations. These are breeding grounds for criminals. Go to Park Station/TransZambezi station in Johannesburg
you will see some order. Alternatively, sell the property to a private developer and cordon off the facility with highly charged, trigger happy para-para.

  24. Ati “we warned you vote wisely, see now”. No but they voted wisely only Prescillar and Chulu REVERSED. Even failed to total up properly and generated 10,000 more votes in Lundazi. Of course made 200,000 more fake votes from Lusaka. It’s now time for pf to dununa REVERSE. Watch this space.

  25. Political will is required. To hell with utumavotes clean up the country. Chisokone market can’t be modernized because some cadres will lose their “income “. They have influenced marketeers not to move to Chimwemwe Nakadoli market. The opposition will try to exploit the situation even though they know that the country needs sanity. Force them to move “UWA KWENSHA UBUSHIKU BAMUTASHA LILYA BWACHA.

  26. But this is to indicate that councils are inefficient and or incompetent – failing to run a bus station. Can they manage a town then… Privatise the Intercity and even just the whole Lusaka City Council. IMAGINE, Councils are not benefiting from these stations, only cadres, WHY.

  27. Vitsilu imwe…. Who told you that if we voted for HH & UPND all our challenges were going to end. Comment objectively. Even plastics all over was going to disappear we rush to comment before we have all the details. The head of state may not be aware.

    • @Katema I’m shocked that you are still in denial that things are not going right under PF. I mean just look at the price of mealie meal and loadshedding….this is not HH’s problem but Lungu’s he is the incumbent. If HH had been rightfully declared President none of this kaponya type of hooliganism would have been allowed to fester. Privatize the station and make it world class to attract tourists because of safety concerns. I agree with a Mr. somebody here who said these stations are breeding grounds for criminality. We should stop this nonsense.

  28. There is no Ministry of Local Govt in the country. Lusaka City Council officials have employed their own collectors in the whole city including private car parks e.g. shoprite, NATSAVE, Post Office, Kamwala, etc, who harass motorists clamping their vehicles every minute but the council itself doesn’t receive any Ngwee. If the Lusaka City Council can’t make their own collectors accountable, how are they going to manage illusive South African Investors. Already they are crying with mining investors who report higher purchase figures of one bulldozer purchased from outside the country less than the total cost of all copper or minerals produced, in their accounting books. Its the same thing with Zambia Sugar. Please, sell it serious locals not cadres.

  29. Did they had a permit? Because if these thugs were upnd, fdd,or any other political party especially those that does not support the pf idea’s of stealing from poor zambian, ***** s in police uniforms could have been fighting running battles with the innocent now look these thugs despite them being dangerous from their tooth to the nail, ***** in police uniforms were made to smile carelessly with ther mouths widely open allowing frys fill them to capacity. What a shame missarable police officers

  30. The only people with rights to demostrate without a police permit are PF cadres. if it were other groups, one could have been killed.

  31. Imwe akushaneni DUNUNA REVERSE mwalaba shani: You are now reaping what you sowed. Policemen cant be there why? when they are all CADRES:::: and why police permit, when they are ruling.

  32. Imwe akushaneni DUNUNA REVERSE mwalaba shani: You are now reaping what you sowed. Policemen cant be there why? when they are all CADRES:::: and why police permit, when they are a ruling Party. Let them dance DUNUNA REVERSE IT SUITS THEM:

  33. INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COURT ARE MOVING TO HIGH COURT BUILDINGS WITHOUT CONSIDERING THE WELL FARE OF THE CLIENTS. DO THEY CARE ABOUT LOCATION AND MOVEMENT OF CLIENTS TREKKING TO AND FROM THE LABOR OFFICES? I THOUGHT IT WAS CONDUCIVE BEING NEAR THE LABOR OFFICE AND ALL. THESE JUDGES ARE SELF THINKING. DR KAUNDA DEDICATED THAT BUILDING FOR LABOR MATTERS TO BE HELD CENTRALLY, NOW WHY THE PLANS TO MOVE IT? WHAT IS THE LABOR MINISTER THINKING?

  34. ba pf bafikala muleilangafye ubutuutu. How many months have passed from the time you voted lungu into office and you are already suffering beyond measure, mwanya twalemyeba elo tamulati mwalanya amenshi mu January na mu February. Get civilised m****** mwe.

  35. THESE ARE THE SAME CHAPS WHO WERE BEATING UP PEOPLE BELONGING TO THE OPPOSITION, NOW THEY ARE REAPING THE SWEAT OF THEIR DEEDS. THEY THOUGHT THEIRS IS A DIFFERENT ZAMBIA THEY SHOULD BRAVE FOR HARD TIMES AHEAD.
