Nkana feel the pressure as Zesco topple them from 2nd place

Sports Nkana feel the pressure as Zesco topple them from 2nd place

Zesco United added more pressure on Nkana’s hopes of a second place finish on the FAZ Super Division log after they demolished demoted Nakambala Leopards 4-0 away on Wednesday in Mazabuka.

The outgoing champions exchange places with Nkana in second and third place respectively as the battle for the number two spot heads for a photo-finish this Saturday.

Defender David Owino converted a 33rd minute penalty to score his sixth goal of the season for Zesco.

Winger Kasashi Lupiya netted his debut Zesco goal in the 43rd minute to see the visitors take a 2-0 halftime lead.

Striker Idris Mbombo added the third goal in the 47th minute to take his league tally to 10 goals before midfielder Cletus Chama completed the rout ten minutes later.

Zesco rise to 69 points, two ahead of Nkana heading into Saturday’s final matches for the two sides that will decide who represents Zambia in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

Zesco will face Lumwana Radiants away on December 10 while Nkana make the short trip to Ndola to face Forest Rangers on the same date.

  1. Congrants to Zesco just a draw will do in lumwana and that will be it. We dont want these noisy makers to cause havoc on the streets of Kitwe on Saturday and we believe you are better re presenters than these thugs from wusakile.

  2. We are going to beat Lumwana in their back yard so that we consolidate the second place with no calculators whatsoever. Zega Mambo all the way to another continental.

  3. Zesco utd will 100% finish above Nkana FC on saturday no doubt about it as they only need a draw in a game with Lumwana!!let Nkana try in 2017 season.

  4. Wait you MAN U supporters, until the final whistle. Remember LUMWANA are trying to beat up relegation. A lose for ZESCO means they will be third if KALAMPA defeats FOREST. Actually PATRIC PHIRI can do as a favor

  5. Shame to Zesco the match fixers, this is a team that had 12 games in hand (36 points) they failed to win the first 7 games all over a sudden in the last remaining 4 games they became the mighty Zesco after it was known that they only needed 12 points to surpass the legendary team kalampa Nkana fc, clearly we can all see that MONEY came into play here. HANDS UP TO THE HONEST AND HARD WORKING TEAM KALAMPA NKANA FC THE 12 TIMES ZAMBIAN CHAMPIONS

    • Why dint u put fate in your hands instead of crying over spilt milk, in Football u win your games not waiting for another team to win for you; Look at Zanaco They won it Before ZESCO could catch up with them, they knew that ZEGA mambo could over take them if they had not gotten reasonable points out of the games they where playing…….More over ZESCO will be a better representative at CAF considering their good Run in Champions League,,,,,,, Just wait for 2018,,,,Zambia will automatically have 3Slots in African competition because of ZEGA’s Performance, I hope Nkana will maintain the Top 3 Slots coz Power 90 also will come hard next season to try and play continental football
